Hey! I just made this and forgot the bay leaves because it's not in the written recipe! Other people add tomato. Do you leave it out for a reason? If I added in some tomato would it be ok?
Bay leaves is optional, and you do not need tomato in it.However, everyone makes their Sofrito a bit different, feel free to add or subtract ingredients, make it to your liking and have fun with it. Happy Thanksgiving!
@@KelvinsKitchen Thanks for the reply! I think the recipe I'm using used a store bought sofrito. So I'm going to add tomato to a portion and keep the rest as is. I'm Irish so didn't know what sofrito was til yesterday! 🤦♂️ Happy Thanksgiving to you too! We don't have that here in Ireland either!
This looks interesting, my fear would be making a large batch of this and using it often would make my foods all taste the same. It's something I might explore though. I found your video on reddit.
I am glad you mentioned that. It is interesting how us Latinos use Sofrito pretty much in everything. Meats, soups, beans, yellow rice , etc. However, the food never taste the same. Sofrito is just the base, you can add other spices to your meal as well. Every one I know who has used Sofrito has never been disappointed with the enhanced flavor to their meals.
