I was psyched when I first heard of this game, but when it came to playing it, I was pretty disappointed. Glad that we finally have a playthrough here on RU-vid with no commentary added, so thank you for that!
Sorry to hear that. I for think this remake is good. It's rough around a couple edges (I'm looking at you hovercraft controls, and boss rematch race), but I don't think this is a bad way to experience DKR
I love this version. There is a lack in voice acting and some music quality but all the added stuff more than makes up for it. Some different characters, the addition of Vine ruin levels, custom tracks, more music, DS download play, it was all so good for me when I was younger. EDIT: everyone else hates on it though, and you might too.
I remember playing the N64 and DS version as a little girl. It was my childhood game as long as I remember. That’s when Banjo is not very scary bear, but sadly I didn’t choose Conker and I don’t know him until 2011 ):
The gripes I had with this game, as someone who played the N64 until it breaks (well it didn't but I played it a lot) : - Changing the musics on some levels - Everyone has the same color of vehicles, yes that somehow made me irritated. You could have given Dixie a Light Purple as in the N64 sometimes Diddy had this color as a glitch during multiplayer, and Tiny the White color (Wizpig being Black and Taj being Purple). Heck if DK was there, he could have had the brown color. - The touch controls to make a super start, my mic was dead so I couldn't even use it for the overcraft - No more Silver Coin challenge for Story Mode, probably to avoid doing the races 3 times. - The Ballon game was... Not very good - The new tracks not implemented in the Story Mode, felt pointless. Could have been hidden on the map as a secret world with a secret boss like DK for example. The tracks are really good tho. - Dixie and Tiny really doesn't replace Banjo and Conker to be honest. Taj and Wizpig are great additions. Would have loved more racers still as I'm sure a DS game could have had more, like Mario 64 DS had. - I wish we had remake on the Switch, based on the N64 version. Sorta like how Crash Nitro Kart was. Would be amazing to have a Diddy Kong Racing game with twice the tracks, characters from Banjo-Kazooie and the Donkey Kong Country franchise, plus the bosses on the game. Anyhow it is still an okay game, but I think it's not on the same level than the N64 version. I think most of the issues are from lack of joystick on the DS, and that the controls suffered because of it, kinda like Mario 64 DS, I still prefer the N64 version because the controls are really better, despite having less content.
Man, this game is SO good! The music, the characters, the adventure mode, all of it just amazing! I just wish people would appreciate this version more.
It's disappointing not getting to play as Banjo and Conker in this game as much as some of us used to on the N64 version. It's been that way ever since Rare was separated from Nintendo....This is all Microsoft's fault! And even up to this day, they don't even look or sound apologetic about it!
Plot twist: Diddy found out that Banjo was working with Wizpig the whole time. This, in turn, led Diddy to replace him with Dixie. Or was it Tiny Kong that replaced Banjo? Plus, Diddy was so fed up with seeing Banjo be overused in TAS videos of the original Diddy Kong Racing, leading everyone to believe that Banjo was giving Timber's island to Wizpig.
I enjoy playing the Nintendo version when I was a little kid but I never beat the whole game now I'm playing this Diddy Kong racing Nintendo DS game on my cell phone
You Know that the DS Remake has new Mechanics than the Original Game. and Taj who was Supposedly to be Playable in the N64 version of the development then he was made to be Playable in the DS Remake.
Dude your a pro compared to me... I barely get a perfect score with the balloon touch challenges and I always get hit by the ship in the second wizpig boss!!
Bruh, I can’t even make it to the 2nd wizpig fight because I can’t get all the balloons in the balloon touch events! Edit: well dang, nevermind. I thought I had to get gold balloons for every door (which mean getting all 50 balloons in ballon touch which is impossible for me) but it just mean getting silver for every one. I just beat the game now :)
@@ShadyGabe ahh... So it's an additional upgrade, not a necessity. Reminds me of CTR's wumpa fruit powerup, but simultaneously simpler and more complicated.
Funny how Rareware was still making games for Nintendo after the Microsoft buyout but only for their portable systems like the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS
Is that just me or did Diddy just go and declare to everyone that they are some stinky losers while posting his big faces all over the place? Timber must feel really bad since it's his parents' island from the start.
@@FreeAimDog No skip or rush like cutscenes or talk chat some slow like story but action may same like TAS. And never mistake or fail and some glitch or trick.
@@EddieERL i was looking to see if someone did a TAS of all of T.Ts time trials to see how it would compare to him on n64 but i have not found any yet. not even in crash team racing they dont have any videos of racing ghost with TAS. it would be interesting to see how perfect pans out VS hard ghost time trials. or better yet someone racing normally then trying to race their ghost with TAS to see how it compares.
I see but not easy very trick on tas. But I have done T.T for all course have been unlocked on N64 version. Best for speedrun this T.T very high speed but some handling.
Regardless, while yes he is now in SSBU, back when Diddy Kong Racing DS was made, they couldn't use Banjo or Conker cuz of the fact that Rare was bought by Microsoft, and due to this, they couldn't add em in. So, Dixie and Tiny replaced them in this version
