Straight bands do almost always break at the pouch too, because it is the weakest spot. The Latex being pressed by the Amber belt, string or whatever is the same as a Rope's weakest spot being the knot
Hi I'm pretty new to the hobby and like most started with stright bands off the shelf but from I started to cut my own bands I have been experimenting with Tapers with great results I don't have a cronie yet but can pretty much tell when a BB is hitting hard. Love your videos keep up the good work
That was a big jump in average speed from straight to the mild taper, but the bump in speed from the bigger taper was rather negligible. My question would be longevity between the two tapered bands. I'm interested in seeing if the 20-15 will last longer.
Thanks for sharing the info been shooting slingshots for awhile and so far never did a real life test on bands I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s not all about the bands used but the whole package in general still a very interesting experiment 👍👍👍

I’m really new to slingshot shooting and looking forward to many adventures!! Been a huge archery guy all my life but recently shot a slingshot and was hooked . I have three now and mainly using the Hornet fromZackery Fowler . My question is what’s the difference in 6mm band , 7 mm , and 8 mm bands? And what do you typically shot if I may ask?
Hey Brother, welcome to the sport. The difference in those bands is the thickness (obviously) but you'll want to choose your bands based on your ammo. I shoot .4, .45 and .5 mostly because I shoot mostly 8mm steel. Those bands would be better suited (in my opinion) for 9.5mm and up.
3/8" steel is a popular hunting sized round for small game. I'm curious about snipersling 0.7, simpleshot nitro, simpleshot general bands as well as 40 latex and 30 latex. Have you tried most of these before?

Thanks for the well presented test results. Counterintuitive, but I'm sure this has been studied... Guessing here- so the increased velocity is due to longer draw length, less mass, and a bit less aerodynamic drag?
I've been shooting slingshos for almost a month and I'm using 1/4 Steel ammo 19-12 taper but I've noticed my band life is quite short, a maximum of 200 shots approx. I don't know if that's normal or I just have to change the taper or cut them straight, perhaps there's too much latex for my ammo, what do you think could be causing the early wearing in my bands?
There's several variables that could affect the band life, but I would start by trying straight bands and adding a little taper until you find the sweet spot for your shooting that gives you the combination of speed, accuracy and band life that works for you. Personally, I would start with a 15×15 and experiment from there.

I’m not just gonna go out I wanna get better with my slingshot and more experienced before I do but I just don’t know much about it yet is all and trying to learn .
