Hi Nick, first off I would like to thank you for all the assistance you have given to both myself and your subscribers. It takes a good amount of creativity to achieve what you have, so from one creator to another thank you. One tip I would like to give you is your audio throughout your tutorials, fluctuates due to the level you place on your export. My advice is to use a brick wall limiter and set it to -3db for a constant gain structure throughout your next video. Happy Creating

This is awesome. I’ve only known how to do the “typical” way you described at the beginning, and kept running into its limitations. This looks SO much better
OMG !! this is gonna be some much useful for character animation ( animating arms and legs) I tried it its not as perfect as the weight tool in Ai but with a little bit of fine tuning you can have excellent result really quick. Do you have any idea of when this update goes live? Great tutorial :)
Hey! thanks for this good video. Just wondering if you text on illustrator, and put it into into after effects and turn ai files into shape layers can save time for this effect?
You could outline the text and add trim paths to that - it would be much easier, but it's going to look like an outline animating, instead of one brush stroke.
Hey, Sexy man! Have you ever had any problems with 23 : 40 or unspecified drawing errors in after effects? Do you happen to know what might be the issue? Cleaning my disk cache doesn't really help lol
Wait! You're actually using the shape/path you created as the font itself instead of revealing the actual font [via Alpha matte] that's above it? I mean, some paths are probably a bit skewed so they can't represent the real font on their own, can they?
it’s not 100% identical to the font, but the advantage is that you are free to animate the path points in dramatic and exciting ways. For example how I slide in the F. You can’t do that if you are using a static Alpha Matte to reveal.
@@motionbynick Totally agreed, man! Most important feeling I am missing from the oldschool write-on method is that you never get the feeling that some force is leading the path, or should I saw- writing the title. It feels like it is literally being revealed and not written. I think, mostly cause there's a lack of texture on the font which could emphasize movement withinn the written lines (similar to AE's UI when you slide a layer's in-out point. There's a grainy texture showing you you're actually slipping & sliding the layer). So, this method really adds to the feeling. The tapered point somewhat hits that force of direction (not texture, but just direction). Thing is...it feels like this would only fit these kind of scribbled fonts. I don't think you can do that fot some straight / slicker font like Helvetica, where the edges are straight. Nothing is tapered. So, you probably can only reveal this kind of font. Not write on top of it like you did here. (Or can you? With a different kind of path edges? Whaddya think and what should be done to pull it off?)
