Nice, Elliot! It's good to hear these "live and learn" things. I remember as a young arranger, (writing by hand, with a pen) that some types of ink spread over time, some tape fell apart, some cheap paper deteriorated, etc., and those things can render your music useless. (!)

In the UK, that JLAR one inch wide Clear tape is £28 (about 35USD). That is eye-wateringly expensive. Going to stay with ordinary cellotape. Nice to hear of alternatives though. Thanks.

Hi Elliot, well this is well past your dates but re: taping and that library repair tape. Before you showed that, I remembered an adhesive tape that (used) to be used in the film industry by editors to join cut movie film. During the editing process before making a final version using 'film cement' (a type of polystyrene glue) for quickness editors would use a tape joiner and the tape used was 'special' so it stay clear, not discolor, wouldn't go gooey and sticky and be strong going through the projector and having 10000w of light shone through it. It wasn't cheap. Now with digital I'm guessing there's not much call for that tape. But hey!! now there's this library repair tape. Hmmmm I'll bet money its the same thing!! Love your videos!

Re: tabloid-sized printers: I recently bought an Epson WF-7840 to use for tabloid scores and two-up parts! $300 (list) isn't bad...replacing the ink cartridges will probably cost as much! For an inkjet printer it produces good work. I would prefer laser but I've printed scores and parts with this machine and they look great! I've not used the scanning function much yet but I intend to use it to archive some older 9" X 12" music, which doesn't fit on a "normal" scanner.

I have an HP inkjet printer. Works great. The days of needing laser for was reliable printing are long gone. 20 years ago, laser printers were so much better than ink.

@@PandemoniumBigBand But is the inkjet ink fast ( I mean will it smudge when beer gets spilt on it) Laser toner is robust. In the UK (Europe) we have A sizes, A4 is 21x29.7 cm. A3 is twice that, A5 half it and so on. So are US printers made to different sizes?

@@lyntedrockley7295 yes, US paper is different sizes, probably because we use imperial rather than metric. Ink Jet printers are much, much less expensive when you start looking at large format printing.

@@PandemoniumBigBand true if refillable ink tanks from bottles are used iinstead of print cartridges and those inks seem permanent enough. Maybe 2023 will be the year of the tablet (dual screen and cheap I wish) A mini topic to cover in your excellent series on formatting. Laying out for repeats, DC DS and codas. A compact part versus the chances of it all going wrong on the gig.
