Adam Rippon, Tara Lipinski, Kristi Yamaguchi and more athletes are reacting to 15-year-old Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva's controversial participation in the short program portion of the women's singles event at the 2022 Beijing Olympics on Tuesday, after previously reportedly testing positive for a banned substance. The athletes challenged the Olympic committee's response to Valieva's positive test and questioned Olympic integrity.

The rusada marked the test as a no priority one so that's why it took so long, now even if she is not doping anymore and that test is from two months ago the real advantage that these girls have is training, they train and repeat their programs again and again, that's why they're so consistent with the jumps, the coaches probably give the drug so the girls can recover quickly and without much pain.

The field seems generally weak this Olympics, or perhaps there are just no real, big established names. Hard to get into it. Wondering why it took so long for a positive test from Dec. 25 to be reported? It's got to be a disappointing Olympic experience for both Valieva and the remaining competitors. Kamila’s coach and doctors need to be investigated. Do not think Kamila knew what’s going on. The lab which gave delayed results report is responsible for this mess. The whole thing could be avoided had they released the results on time. Suspicious of the timing of this test results release.
@alexandra6864
@alexandra6864 2 года назад
most definitely suspicious. it is a lot harder to take away medals once they are given to the athlete. We saw this in 2002 with the judging scandal with the pairs skaters from Russia. I wouldn’t be surprised if the lab that processed the test was paid or forced to delay releasing the results. The testing lab probably grew to feel very guilty for adhering to the pressure to delay and gave in releasing the results before Valieva would be able to receive her medals. Just speculation; just a theory. We’ve seen cheating from that country before, hence why their athletes cannot compete under the flag.

Now it turns out she had 3 different heart meds in her system and granted only 1 is banned the combination of the 3 increase stamina which could help her perform those quad jumps. The most ridiculous thing I’ve heard is it could have been passed through her grandfather’s saliva if she drank from his glass 😝 that is insane. Come on they couldn’t come out with a better excuse. I guess anyone who fails a drug test now can say they drank from someone else drink.., yeah I’m sure an employer or parole officer will believe that reason. Bottom line she failed the test she should NOT have been allowed to compete no matter her age there are banned substances for a reason. What about the athletes that still don’t know what medals they are going to receive? They have worked all their lives to earn the right to compete for their country at the highest level. I find it suspicious that the sample was taken in December of the previous year and the results were only reported just before the Team event. She is a minor and the officials should be more responsible in handling this case. I am also suspicious of those who will directly benefit if this case goes out of hand. Some athletes and news agencies in a particular country are exaggerating their reports and trying to insinuate something that puts immense pressure on this young athlete. Kamila Valieva causes only respect! Those who speak and write nasty things about her have a black soul. No doping will help you ride so divinely. Adequate people understand that only years of hard work and talent can give a skater such a result. She has repeatedly passed tests, including in Beijing, all tests are negative. As for the positive test that appeared suspiciously immediately after winning the team competition (I don’t believe in such coincidences), we need to investigate how the microdose got in and whether it was at all. So far, everything is at the level of statements and conjectures. Therefore, Camila was allowed to individual competitions as there is no evidence. There would be facts, removed and did not listen!!!

On top of that, those athletes much older. And for sure Kamila didn't cheat. There are so many people with "asthma" get extra help. If people have asthma then they should just quit or try how it is. To get so much pressure at 15 and they still get first place just awesome!

Why are we mentioning asthma out of no where? From what I know, nobody on either of the podiums (men or women) have it. Idk anyone in pairs or ice dance with it either. If you’re talking about who I think you are, they’ve had a history of it since childhood and have said their asthma is much better than when they were a kid and that it’s not an excuse. It’s more common than a 15 year old taking three types of heart medication. Also, if cheating did occur it’s obviously not the child at fault. It’s the team of horrible adults behind them

What do you mean by "rules are rules"? Everyone says that now without looking more into various peculiar details of this case. FYI many athletes with trace-amounts of banned substance were allowed to compete in the past, some even tested DURING Olympics, whilst their legal cases takes time. And everything in the past was done confidentially to protect name of athlete BEFORE court's decision. If Kamila's test was in the "doping" amount range, and not the "trace amount", it wouldn't matter if she was 15 or 13 or 20, she'd be automatically disqualified, because those rules are the same regardless of age (read WADA's protocols). And FYI to test "'trace amount" on a test is not that uncommon for athletes - plenty of cases. But the court will decide later if athlete is guilty or not.

The test is from mid December. The substance does not have a long lasting effect. It produces effect on the heart when is present in the blood stream in sufficient concentration and is washed out with urine rather fast. This is why it is usually taken 2 times a day if prescribed as medication. The recent Kamila's tests, taken before the current competition, did not show the presence of the substance. She is clean. The traces of substance found in her urine-whatever was the cause of it- in December by no way can give her any advantage over the other competing athletes now.

Doesn't matter. If it's a rule for all, it's a rule for all. Also, medication of any kind is still found in traces months after. Just the test rules for quantitive amounts. Not qualitive. Meaning, it could still be in her system, or benefiting her without it giving a read on the test as it tests for a LEVEL. So, if it's low enough, it would pass her. Doesn't mean it isn't there.

While therapeutic use of prohibited substances is possible - why is disease prevention forbidden?.. And I understand she’s 15 and our emotional standpoint I feel bad for this woman, however it’s not fair to the rest of the competitors she should not be allowed to skate. The adults around her need to face consequences. And I think it’s about time we start taking a look at the Olympic ages. Even in the best of circumstances this is a lot of pressure to put on a 15 or 16 year old kid. Perhaps it’s time to take the age back up to 18 and that way you can hold the competitors accountable for their own actions, and not put this undue pressure on a minor. If a teenager is not mature enough to be held accountable for the actions that they take then they have no place being an adult competition and it’s almost inhumane for us to put them in that position for the spectacle of the show.

Lol these amateurs who called em olympic skaters champions do not even come close to her skating skill. Feeling inner jealousy their talking trash. I've seen this girls' performances all I could say is she's a talent born once in a decade. She does not any medication to win a gold, she basically has no competition in the world apart from number 2 skater from Russia.
