Target cutting prices on thousands of household items

Target is slashing prices on more than 5,000 items by this summer. Prices for household items like milk, bagels, diapers and even pet food are dropping, but there are concerns the move could hurt small businesses struggling to compete with larger chains. Columbia's retail studies director Mark Cohen joins to discuss.

Inflation is due to Profit over Employees. Stockholders & Corporations have been making record-breaking profits as they keep wages low for average employees. Price gouging, not inflation.

In March Target said they're planning on opening 300 stores. Their operating income went up by 2 billion dollars from the previous year. Profits are at an all time high and the stock jumped 12%. People are finally catching on to corporations price gouging. Inflation is because of their corporate greed not worker wages.

90-95% of the products offered at large retailers, doesn't really cost much at all. It is a hard transition to understand the fabrication of our economy being more communalistic; everyone puts in and gets out more. Rather than a few large retailers being able to dictate and control the entire market value of specific products and industries.

It is a complex dance buying Chinese products here. Brick and mortar provides local jobs, and feeds the local tax base, especially school taxes, but American based online only like Amazon much less so - Teh-moo, Tick-Talk shop etc, direct from China shopping gives back even less. Dump tariff/tax all goes to the federal government, which given his preaching about federal overreach is a strange solution. Of course we could stop pretending it is someone else's fault, but that won't happen...

Love Target, I hope the store survives, hope neighborhood Walgreens survives also. We need a change the 1k rule of thief. All states should try to keepkeep stores safe. Target doesn't sell too much of chemical packaged so called food like Costco and Walmart

I don't know about anyone else, I'm still boycotting Target. Last year's sales trend when they targeted the rainbow alphabet ideals towards children and babies turned me off. So disgustingly irresponsible and I haven't forgotten. I'm sure I'm not the only person to feel this way. Could their struggles be from their own foolishness?
