Thank you! Thank you, Petra! Great choice, unexpected choice, but a great one😊 I walk Alone is one of Tarja's biggest hits. Also her first single, ever. Tarja was devastated when she got fired from NW. Plus, the letter damaged Tarja's reputation. At least, in Finland, at some forms, you can still see that. She doesn't perform that much in Finland, especially rock concerts.🙁 She is still mainly known as the ex-Nightwish singer. Most people do respect her, but apparently she is just not asked to play here too often. But I can feel that is starting to change, and I really hope it does change. But don't be sad. She was fired a long time ago. Time heals. Marko and Tarja are good friends again. Tarja and Tuomas are civil and have moved on a long time ago. They all are happy. When you see Tarja perform live (or the live recordings), you can see the joy and it is very infectious 😁 Thank you, again! I love this journey that you are on.

This whole album was fantastic!! It was her first solo album after NW and I agree, there is a certain range of emotions here. I remember having to special order this here in the US, but it was so worth it! Thank you for a wonderful reaction 😊

Someone happy with their own life would have no need to write something like this. And now for the song. I interpret it the same as you. In the lyrics, you can see a lot of references to Nigtwish and how Tarja felt back then. he herself says that her fans are her winter storm, supporting and surrounding her from the beginning. She was truly devastated. Her first Christmas concerts were also scheduled that year, without her knowing that she would no longer be in the band. In the interview, she said how afraid she was then that no one would want to come to her concerts. The letter seriously damaged her reputation at the time. But in the end, she got huge support from the fans. She organizes Christmas concerts every year in Europe. She also wrote in her book that she had no experience in writing rock songs, because in Nightwish she did some vocal arrangements at most, and that was it. That's why her label sent her to a 3 weeks camp with various songwriters, where the foundations for her first album, My Winter Storm, from which this song comes, were created. Most of the lyrics are signed by someone else, but Tarja was there, she collaborated on the songs and nothing came out regardless of what she wanted from the song. First of all, there is no place for the negative comments that you received and be assured that it is only a mindless minority who are, and send messages, like that. Well done for not starting off tiresome debates by comparing the three NW singers too. A favourite song among Tarja fans about starting off on her solo career. As mentioned, the song is performed live at her concerts so there are lots of live versions available. I particularly enjoy the Act I version in Argentina. Even though the song is about walking alone, crowds really get behind Tarja and support her when she sings this song, as though they are saying, “You are not alone. Your Winterstorm are with you and right behind you.” In fact, in her Act II show in Milan, the crowd held up signs to that effect. A very moving part of the concert. Great song and review. If you would like a recommendation from her solo career, “Innocence” from her Circus Life concert is, to me and many of her fans,absolute perfection. 😊

There are other songs that Tarja "dedicated" to Thomas/Nightwish (I say dedicated because of the lyrics of the songs and not because Tarja said so). The strongest one for me is "enough", there is a video where you can feel her sadness and anger (this came out after Nightwish's Master Passion Creed). There are a lot of Tarja's songs where there is pain in lyrics, after those events with the dismissal. Tuomas and Nightwish have almost half of the album Dark Passion Play about Tarja. Many bands lose vocalists, but Nightwish is a special case. Everything going on is like a difficult family divorce.

See if you can ignore those bitter "fans" (or whatever we should call them), that still lives in the Past, its been almost 20 years, its time to move on. This song seems like a responce from being kicked from NW, just as NW had Song called Bye Bye Beautiful (and others). But as others have said, there doesn't seem to be any bad blood between them anymore. Tarja was on the "Nightwish album" Crewwish, which was a album were the NW crew played Nightwish Songs, and the money it made were given to the Crew during Covid (where tech guys etc. were out of Job since they couldn't Tour). Also Tarja and Marco have both been singing (and touring) together recently.

One of the reasons why I prefer Tarja in her solo career is the fact that I can hear her thoughts and feelings in her songs. Nightwish songs are amazing and she sings them beautifully, but it wasn't whole her. I hope one day you will react to her song Diva from the 2020 Circus Life concert. The song is beautifully theatrical, funny and addressed to Tuomas, but in a playful way, nothing at all as angry as Nightwish's Master Passion Greed. She wrote Diva already around 2012, but then she didn't have the courage to release it yet, so she only released it in 2016 on the album The Shadow Self. And ignore the malicious comments. They were and always will be, unfortunately.
