Thanks for the great review. This song truly demonstrates Tarja’s phenomenally creative arrangement abilities. She has ideas that most never even think or dream of. She also thrives on contrasts that most ordinary people would think should never work but they always do with her (like the beautiful strings and piano with the powerful crunching guitar chords). I have always felt that Tarja has many wonderful attributes but, as you highlighted, her control when singing is the greatest among them. She works and controls every note that she sings. I totally agree about Christians piano playing too. In the full uncut concert version , he even opens the song before the guitars come in. This is a song that leaves me emotional with its brilliance. Probably my favourite song in this wonderful concert but it isn’t easy to decide with the quality of songs throughout. A truly amazing artist but a big thumbs up to the whole band too.

This was a bit modified version from the album version, but I chose this one because it's my favourite version.😊 Innocence is from Tarja's 4th rock album, Shadow Self. Innocence was a single and one of the biggest hits from Tarja. It also has a music video that deals with domestic violence. And a tip: you can just use her first name Tarja. You don't need to add her last name (I mean you can if you want to, up to you of course🙂), Turunen, to the tittle. Tarja is her stage name that she uses with her solo career. Yes, I think you got it! I think this song was to highlight the band, especially the pianist. During Tarja's concert, she always performs some songs that highlight the band or specific members of the band. The pianist is Cristian Chretschmar (sorry, not sure if I wrote the name correctly). He has been Tarja's pianist for quite a long time. He is great! About Tarja's song writing: she mostly writes her own songs. Innocence was collaboration with someone else though. In the beginning of her solo career she did need help and more people would write songs for her. And usually her guitarists come up guitar riffs for her and she creates the rest nowadays. Tarja composes with a piano, so there can be a lot of piano melodies in her songs. I think Tarja has gotten really good at writing music. Her latest rock album, In The Raw (2019), is golden! It's my favourite! She has said that there will be a new rock album for this year, so I am very excited about that😄 About the back up singers here: One of them is Tarja's brother, Toni Turunen. And one of them is Clementine from Exit Eden and Visons of Atlantis
Thanks for this great reaction to this fantastic song. The whole concert is amazing. The Piano/Keyboard player is Christian Kretschmar from Germany. He works with Tarja for many years. He is a former member of the German Band ‚Schiller‘ Tarja met him when she does the song ‚Tired Of Being Alone‘ with them. The song was nominated for a Grammy in 2009.
I adore Tarja's solo work, she's so free and creative with it! And it's wonderful to hear how much her chest voice has developed. Thank you for doing some Tarja solo in this channel, I would love to see more! :)

TARJA has become a musical genius of sorts, perhaps she always was. Incredible that she has put out 4 new albums in the last 13 months, one being a best of with a truly exquisite new song ☮☮💥💥💘💘
It's not that she put out 4 albums in 13 months, but she put out 4 great albums in 13 months. Even if that is a lot, you can hear how much work has gone into it. She didn't do it sloppy.

I think its obvious she had outgrown Nightwish she needed the freedom to create not be on constant tour with no time to care for her voice. An instrument she has been perfecting for 40+ years. She went solo in 2006. End of.an Era was the name of the DVD of that last night of the concert in Helsinki, that wrapped the world tour of Once. Tarja composes the songs herself often. She plays piano and does so at the end of this show. You won't see pyro as it effects her voice. This was recorded in Bucharest Hungary.
