Former NIGHTWISH singer Tarja Turunen will perform at a special event to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Finland's independence. The concert will take place on December 6, 2007 at Tapiola LänsiAuto Areena with Tapiola Sinfonietta, conducted by Tuomas Hannikainen. Tarja will perform a program consisting of several different versions of the Finnish national song "Maamme" (Our Land).
Watch Tarja's performance in three parts:
Part 1: This is the first appearance which contains three short operatic songs in Swedish and Finnish.
Part 2: This is the second appearance where Tarja sings "God Save the Queen", the national anthem of England, in Finnish.
Part 3: This is the third appearance where Tarja sings an old version of the Finnish national anthem by F.A. Ehrenström

I am so happy you remastered this performance. It was a huge landmark in Tarja's career. Specially because the opera and classical community in Finland always scuffed at Tarja because of her metal start. A small note for that stunning dress. Still my all time favourite. Thank you Finland for all these amazing artists you birth into the world and gracias una vez más mi amigo por todo éso.

Very interesting video my friend,Lady Tarja Turunen in her most gracious performance of her career in front of Finnish audience in 100th anniversary of independence. Glorious performance, what a dress !!!! God save the Queen 👑 in Finnish, glorious!!!! Thank you Metallwish,we never forget that this woman has two parrarel careers,in classical and metal repertoire and this is very rare and unique and difficult also. Thanks again.!!!!

What sets Tarja apart from other female vocalists in the metal scene? Just yesterday she was singing "Until My Last Breath" and dancing on stage, and today she is singing a classical opera aria in a chamber music hall.))

I watched this in 2007 when it came out and the quality was so bad...Tarja looks like a Queen in this dress! This is the biggest achievement of Tarja so far! Tarja doesn't sing here God Save The Queen, but the old Finnish Royal Hymn from the time when Finland belonged to the Russian Empire and the Russian Emperor acted as the Grand Duke of Finland. The melody is the same as in God Save The Queen but the words are totally different.
