Met him when when I worked at the airport. He was standing in the middle of a really long line at Arrivals, never having asked for anyone to escort him or bring him to the front. So sweet and down-to-earth. I jokingly told him he needed to develop his diva skills! (And, yes, he should have been nominated for an Oscar for Rocketman!)
@Farmgirl I agree on your Oscar nomination point.. it'd been at least a decade since I'd watched a film that caused me to weep. I've adored this actor ever since watching Kingsman (I & II). And his role in Rocketman solidly placed him in my personal top 100 actors. And _WTF!?!_ my husband & I hadn't heard about Ray Liotta passing.. I've admired his body of work for thirty years.
@@St.Linguini_of_Pesto I escorted Joaquin Phoenix to the plane one night. Bit of chatting and I mentioned that I was so disappointed Taron had not been nominated. I pointed out that I suspected it was because Rami Malek had won the year before for playing Freddy Mercury and the Academy didn't want to nominate two similar roles (i.e. rock star bios) two years in a row. And I added that Rami had done a wonderful impression. But Taron had done a brilliant acting job - different! He really deserved the nod. Joaquin said he'd spoken to Taron about it recently and energetically agreed with me which was very gracious since he was nominated (and won) shortly after that! I was very impressd with Joaquin's generosity and kindness - there I was praising someone I felt gave an Oscar-worthy performance to someone who was in the running!
@@Farmgirl-iy9zc You’ve met Taron and Joaquin?! You must have an interesting job. Is there anyone else you’ve met that you’d like to share? Joaquin strikes me as an intelligent and intense person. I’m not sure I would have been able to be as level headed as you were around Taron. I would have 100% tripped over my own feet. He seems like a very down to earth and kind guy, besides being easy on the eyes 😉
I love that he gives other people credit, like his dialect coach... never hear that from Hollywood actors, they usually take all the credit themselves.
This might be a weird comment to make, but it’s so sweet to hear how his voice has gotten deeper since the first Kingsmen. As a 27-year old, it’s nice to see people in my age group “grow up” with me. 20’s aren’t easy haha.
I completely adore him, i could watch & listen to him all day long and i'm still upset that he was snubbed at the oscars for such a masterclass performance
LMMFAO 🐑🐑🐑 oh no, I'm recalling a very weird local news bit that I'd heard about 23 years ago, involving: a very perturbed ewe; an adult male human wearing assless leather pants; a gag ball; blindfolds; a shocked farmer; a phone call; law enforcement patrol vehicle "tippy-toeing" with _no_ lights (head & roof); 3 - 4 faces watching in puzzled but amused disbelief; and the mysterious bald patches that had been appearing on the aforementioned ewe.
Loved this guy since The Kingsman! He's so humble, well spoken and a total cutie! Love how he talks with his hands, and constantly grabs his ear while in conversation. :)
I didn't know he is British. I saw him in Blackbird for the first time and I'm blown away with how perfectly he played the American accent!! Superb actor. Wow!!
Whoa… Taran is a great actor. He is so twitchy and slightly nervous here, crossed legs and more delicate mannerisms, but he plays such a swaggery, charismatic American dude perfectly in Black Bird. It is hard for me to believe it is the same person.
Man that is awesome. From what Taron is saying it sounds like Liotta was really into the character, and to have him not only break character and go into his other character from Goodfellas and say that line has to be one hell of compliment. Maybe even a teachable moment form actor to actor. It's nice that Taron appreciated it.
Whenever a talk show host needs to find a substitution, Chelsea Handler should always be the first choice. She's always effortlessly humorous and maintains everyone's attention.
Wales is on the island of Britain, and they're more truly "British" than the English/Anglo Saxons. Edit: I guess what I meant to say was; "one can NOT be "Welsh" WITHOUT being "British", yet one CAN be "British" WITHOUT being "Welsh"... Are people from Northern Ireland "British"? No. Are people from Anglesey "British"? Most thoroughly. Is Ireland a "British Ilse"? NO. Is Skye a British Ilse? Yes? Is Man a British Ilse? I'm sure I'll need to ask a Manx person, if I ever meet one.
Is it possible for Chelsea Handler to speak more loudly without actually shouting? What is that? And her comments about nobody going to Wales. A bit limited on the knowledge front and more than a little patronizing. Gah!
NERDY VENT: Standard American dialects don't shift through vowels as much as others, and we go full-on into vowels. "Cat" has the same sound technically, but the a is softer in more British dialects. It's easier to pick up that difference from the English POV than the American being a "brighter" sound the difference stands out easier. He also makes it seem like dialects are just about changing an individual words pronunciation, but there's placements, melodies, and rhythms to round out an accent. Standard American doesn't really have much specific nuance to it, being more based on the individual and their environment (I have like no melody when I don't have energy, but am very melodic with energy+excitement) A few of our words' pronunciations have also changed throughout the 20th century, as reading turned to listening.
He is very talented, charming and super handsome. I think he would make a excellent wolverine in the MCU. He's also good friends with and kind of a protege of Hugh Jackman. So kinda perfect. That or Johnny Storm AKA The Human Torch of The Fantastic Four. Oops, did I just nerd out.? Oh well. I stand by my statements.
She sort of saved it but for the Americans who don’t know England, Wales and Scotland make up Britain. So English people are English and British, Welsh people are Welsh and British, Scottish people are Scottish and British….for now 😂 they want independence again
I find it so crazy how English guys can just switch into an American accent like he did in blackbird. Never expected to hear him speak like he is in this interview. Black bird was amazing 10/10
Serously the amount of Americans I’ve had to tell England, Wales and Scotland make up Britain lol. And therefore English people are English and British, Welsh people are Welsh and British, Scottish people are Scottish and British….for now 😂 they want independence again
@@jafuni9349 in this setting perhaps but also cause he was born in England like he said I guess he thought he would focus on that, but trust me your experience is limited we are not polite in that way generally 😂 we are very blunt and it often shocks Americans who move here. Think of how Gordon Ramsay, Simon Cowell, Ricky Gervais, Russell Brand etc have been on American tv…and that’s with crazy American censorship lol
Whoever's reading this, I pray that whatever your going through gets better and whatever your struggling with or worrying about is going to be fine and that everyone has a fantastic day! Amen
I'm from Marion, Indiana where the girl was taken in Blackbird and the movie was accurate about the uselessness of our Police Department. Sadly they are pretty slow!
Chelsea deserves a mainstream late night show. Such a natural, I loved Chelsea Lately on the E network. I’m a 37 year old straight male that enjoys her style and comedy, give her a late night show ppl.
Personally, I think CH is half crazy, but that doesn't make her awful. I'm just surprised to see her acting sane.😂 I love him and how he's so bragging about being friends with EJ. Wouldn't that go to anybody's head?😂❤
