Oh wow. Out of all the hundreds of decks I've seen in my almost 40 years, the R-W Radiant deck is my absolute favorite to read with. Many other decks are still really pretty to look at, and get inspiration for artistic and creative purposes, but I can never part with my R.W Radiant. But that's why so many decks exist. We are all so different and there is something out there for everyone.

i've used the i ching on and off since i was a teen. right now i have one physical deck (The Efflorescent Tarot Deck b/w) and a few digital app decks (I mostly use galaxy tarot). i use the pattern app and astromatrix, which i love. co-star wasn't really as helpful to me. i'm slowly learning charts by following the passing of celestial bodies through the year. i have a few favorite teachers i listen to, to learn their insights on what this or that means. i also have dipped into some online pick a card readings, which are super insightful if you let your intuition guide you. i actually like that better than doing my own readings, because i can get the perspective of different minds reading, different decks sharing intuitions, and they are able to piece together a whole concept more easily. when i read for myself i still have to look up each card and just sit with the idea of what it might overall be saying. i guess i don't use much intuition itself yet when i'm doing my own readings just simply bc i'm still learning the cards overall intents. i've been sort of.. a naturalistic animist pagan for most of my life. i don't really dive deeply into established ritual, but i do my own things. i'm very much in tune with nature and i speak to the trees frequently and draw energy from plants. especially thorned plants, i've noticed. and cedar and hawthorn trees. old energy. i celebrate the equinoxes more openly now than i used to and i have kept an altar on and off since i was a teen. i've dabbled in more established things like sigils but mostly i just follow the intent and intuitions as my guide, and send out energy into the universe in focused ways when i want to manifest things. if anyone really wants to give tarot a try to see if it resonates before buying a deck, i'd definitely check out the pick a cards. there's good ones on like your monthly reading, or things you need to hear right now, etc. and you can really just breathe deep, center youself, focus on your questions, and trust the reading to take shape. and then disregard anything that wasn't for you- because as a general online reading they might have messages coming through for some people but not all the people that would see the same reading. you might scoff if you're not comfortable with using intuitions this way, but honestly 99% of the readings i do for myself on youtube pickacards are all telling me the same story unfolding for my life right now.. different readers, different random piles of reading that i've picked, videos that came out yesterday or last year, different decks.. and yet they're all telling me the same story for what's going on in my life right now. with very specific overlapping cards and concepts. so you know, just if you let it in, it will help provide clarity and insight. and if you don't, well, you won't see it working very well unless it wants you to, i'd imagine. anyone can sceptic anything away if they want to. muddy, i'd be super down to buy from your shop, it looks rad as fuck and is juuuuuust my aesthetic. when money comes back man i'm all over it. really want a couple of those rings and i love that deck you were sharing at the end. i agree about cards being too big, my deck is so hard to shuffle and with playing cards i don't really worry so much about if i'm going to bend them, but with tarot i want to be super careful. oh and if anyone is still reading i just remembered you should probably be cleansing the energy of your cards in between readings just so the energy isn't confused and mixing together. so if you're doing readings for someone in a lovelorn situation, you don't want those messages to get confusingly brought into your next one. and they can if you don't center yourself and cleanse the energy of your cards with intention, stones, sage, or whatever you find works for you. man i really don't know how to write a short comment.

Loved your explanation! I recently (very recently) got into reading tarot after working with other divinations like Oracle cards & Throwing Bones. I decided to start working with tarot and Ive watched a lot of deck reviews, I found a deck that I really liked but it’s not released yet lol. My husband was kind enough to pre order it for me. I decided to work with the original Rider-Waite deck while I wait (since a lot of people recommended starting out on that deck). Almost like you said though, I don’t really resonate with it, the meanings are hard for me to connect to the cards and the colors on them are just so bland to me. I’m hoping I resonate with the deck that comes in a few months, however today I saw a deck that really resonated with my young adulthood and it is calling my name 😂 I guess it’s not a crime to have a few decks on hand lol. I appreciate you sharing your story, and telling others the first deck you get might just not be the one and not to feel bad about it! Blessed be 💕

My first tarot cards were "XIII Tarot" by Nekro that I picked up in New Orleans. I like my second set better, "Tarot of Gemstones and Crystals" by AGM Urania.
