This comment made me feel emotions I had never felt before: Listening to the music, I was beginning to weep. Yet, reading your comment made me lough out loudly while being sad at the same time. It's hard to describe...
He didn't take his soul. The devil wanted to take him as his student and the guy didn't take the deal but he did try to compose what he remembered from the dream
for the rest, google translate gives this translation: "One night, in 1713, I dreamed that I had made a pact with the Devil and he was at my command. Everything was going wonderfully well for me; all my desires were anticipated and more than satisfied by my new servant. It happened that, at a certain moment, I gave him my violin and challenged him to play some romantic piece for me. My astonishment was enormous when I heard him play, with great bravery and intelligence, a sonata as singular and romantic as I had never heard before. Such was my wonder, ecstasy and delight that I was astonished and a violent emotion awakened me. I immediately took up my violin wishing to remember at least a part of what I had just heard, but it was in vain. The sonata that I composed then is, by far, the best that I have ever written and I still call it "The Devil's Sonata", but it turned out to be so inferior to what I had heard in the dream that I would have liked to break my violin into pieces and abandon music forever..."
Thank god i got 4 30 second ads before the video was over, tartini's making bank off that one, it should be against community guidelines to put ads on anything composed before ww1
Sad thing is this is not the REAL sonata, as Tartini woke up struggling to remember all what he heard, but couldnt remember everything exactly, and after he composed it he stated: "This has been by far the best piece I have composed, yet its nowhere near as beautiful as what I heard in my dream".
listening to this makes me truly envious of Tartini for having heard the original. If _this_ is what he considers 'so inferior to what I had heard, that if I could have subsisted on other means, I would have broken my violin and abandoned music forever' whatever the Devil played must have been soul-destroyingly beautiful.
Honestly I dont think Lucifer punishes the unholy. 1) Why would he follow the orders of someone who betrayed him? and 2) He likes sin apparently so he would love unholy people. Cool pfp btw, I love peep
@@charliefrown6206 I always had it explained to me that the devil hates God and all his creation. It isn't his job to punish the unholy, they're just the only ones he can get his hands on because when you die, there's only two places to go, and only one out of millions will lead to Heaven. Or something like that..
It sounds like a journey from the innocence of a child to the overwhelming challenges in the later years. From soothing calmness, unexpected detours, and difficult moments that a persona faced personally, it sounded like a history converted to music.
fierce 175 blade from what I heard it was more of an interpretation, he tried to compose it as best as he could but claimed it was no where even close to its full beauty in the dream
I am well aware that this is a joke, but if you think about it, why is it so hard for the generations that grew up with technology to memorize certain subjects, while past generations could do it with much ease. To those who still can't comprehend on what I am stating here, what is the main difference between the era of today compared to the past era's. Technology, modern entertainment, the ability to reach to someone thousands if not millions of miles away, in just a click of a button. Humans of today are constantly filled with distraction, whether if it is of importance, or just plain irrelevance.
You know what? I actually do want to believe that the story behind this piece is legitimate. This is a true, otherworldly masterpiece, and NO human would deny having written it. The fact that Tartini totally could've just said "Hehe, look at what a genius I am!" instead of insisting that he DID hear this in a dream from the "devil" (or whichever entity he might've dreamed of) speaks volumes. No way would anyone refuse to take credit for such a masterpiece in favor of making up a "cute little story".
It actually makes more sense that it's a made-up story. Even if he had said "Look how smart I am", he probably wouldn't have been listened to as much and become famous. The fact that he put a story with the devil and religious motifs into this composition is what makes the song memorable and interesting. After all, people care about supernatural and religious imagery. That's why religious stories have been told for years.
People do have vivid dreams of music, I am one of them. There wasn't an entity playing it for me but music I heard as if being played on a radio. I'm just not artistic enough to put it on paper to bring it to the masses.
Imagine if what the Devil played in Tartini's dream was deadass just a violin cover of a rock song or something which is why Tartini had such trouble writing it down because he had never heard any music like that before.
This work started out so peaceful but then became dramatic to down right chaotic. It made me flash image of intrusive thoughts and want me to play when I have finally lost it. Why does this catches my heart?
@@ZoroSinpay Before rock was "satanic", blues were considered "satanic" and before that some classical composers. Forty years from now, a new genre will appear and claim the "satanic" position and rock will be a music for old people.
Imagine when paganini died he went to hell and the first thing he saw was tartini and the devil playing a sick violin duo, then he just casually joins them
This artpiece would certainly represent what the devil knows would be man's greatest weakness. Their self doubts. The dancing of the chords makes it sound as if it is chasing around something, playing with you, and exploiting what you bury in the subconcious. The anxiety inducing buildup towards a somber upending brings out the full ugliness of the mind, in a small yet potent form. When you think it could be over it happens again, with your doubts growing bigger. And around the third time the trilling of the violins and other instruments make you feel a moment of true despair in a cathartic fashion. I may not know much about music, but it took a real orchestral genious to remember what played in his very nightmares that haunted him until his demise.
My god you can hear the fury and the desperate romanticism of all one after the other in beautiful crashing psychotic waves I just can’t get enough. Enormous props to the orchestra and conductor as well this rendition is incredible.
"There is room on the stage for one beast and one alone. All others are destined for a night that is eternal and without name. One by one they will step down into the darkness before the floodlamps. Bears that dance, bears that dont."

Imagine if you actually lived in the baroque period and heard this for the first time. Never having heard romantic embellishments like this or the dissonences in this pioneering masterwork. It would have sounded like punk rock and you would have either loved it or hated it.
This has to be one of the most intense musical compositions ever written, classical music has plenty of hard hitters, this one does not stop, and even if it's cheerfull it turns out to be a buildup to a heart breaking melody.
@Zababa YoMama how are you gonna say he probably broken ALL of the commandments. you're accusing the man of theft, murder, and cheating on a spouse💀💀💀 do you know how much commitment that would take
"One night, in the year 1713 I dreamed I had made a pact with the devil for my soul. Everything went as I wished: my new servant anticipated my every desire. Among other things, I gave him my violin to see if he could play. How great was my astonishment on hearing a sonata so wonderful and so beautiful, played with such great art and intelligence, as I had never even conceived in my boldest flights of fantasy. I felt enraptured, transported, enchanted: my breath failed me, and - I awoke. I immediately grasped my violin in order to retain, in part at least, the impression of my dream. In vain! The music which I at this time composed is indeed the best that I ever wrote, and I still call it the "Devil's Trill", but the difference between it and that which so moved me is so great that I would have destroyed my instrument and have said farewell to music forever if it had been possible for me to live without the enjoyment it affords me."

Bro the Corer lord himself gave a little piece of his musical art, have you not had a dream and wake up almost forced by yoursel to remember a piece of the dream or to get a sketch in your jead about what happened ,the devil gave him the mosy precious thing that great artist could ever take as a gift , tartini told us that ,still dreaming, stoped his breath , cause he knew he will kill himself if he cant reproduce that beauty , the devil approved himd and gave him in exchange of his soul , or what the deal was,the devil let him that minuntes after wake up with some of the notes , to give him a little piece of cake , that wil fill tartini s soul a little
@@jeanfelipe1505 Not only is this just part of the full thing he heard, but there was much more that was just impossible for him to replicate. So there are parts to this we will never even know about and parts that were so complex that it was literally impossible to replicate.
Didn't he listened to something different but sound like this? I was told the music he heard was like the best piece ever, but he couldn't remember it, but composed something similar.
Apparently this isn't even half as good as the devil showed Tartini. It was lost once he woke up and this was his best attempt to transpose the song. It's insane.
it actually was written after the devil supposedly visited him in a dream and the devil played the most beautiful sonata said "i can make you the best violinist ever but for a price...your soul after you die." and he said no, and when he woke up the next day he wrote down every note he remembered put he could never match the beauty and elegance of the devil's sonata and it drove him into insanity, this is his most famous piece of music ironically, such a beautiful piece of music with a dark past.
Tartini sold his soul to the devil in a dream of his. He exchanged his soul for the devil to be his servant and teacher. At the end of the music lesson Tartini handed the violin to the devil to see if he could play. The devil started playing with virtuosity; delivering an intense and magnificent performance. Tartini described it like this: "I gave him my violin to see if he could play. How great was my astonishment on hearing a sonata so wonderful and so beautiful, played with such great art and intelligence, as I had never even conceived in my boldest flights of fantasy. I felt enraptured, transported, enchanted: my breath failed me, and I awoke." Mesmerized by the devil’s brilliant and awe-inspiring playing, Tartini immediately attempted to recreate what he had heard. However, despite having said that the sonata was his favorite, Tartini later wrote that it was "so inferior to what I had heard, that if I could have subsisted on other means, I would have broken my violin and abandoned music forever." I can barely imagine how good the actual sonata must have been that he heard the devil play in his dream.
@@miguelsalas8583 he was the musical choir director of all the angelic hosts. They say he had 13 pipes and sounds. He could also play in octaves with each of his angelic instruments. The other angels described Lucifers body as the perfect musical instrument that God had ever created. When Lucifer played all the angels would weep hearing the sounds he would create. That's the thing ive found about him.
@@miguelsalas8583 Ezekiel 28:13 check for yourself but here is the whole verse, "Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the stardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the saphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created." Hope this helps you out.
Lucifer In all his power could not be comprehended by a meere mortal so his song is pretty much an Eldritch ballad of temptation mallace and individualality
I newly learned about the story of this song. The surprising thing is, when I was a teenager, I also heard a beautiful guitar composition in my dream. My dream wasn't as complicated as Tartini's, there was a fall leaves moving on a laying down lady, as the lady closed her eyes, my sight angle was getting closer to her and a beautiful, extremely beautiful guitar composition was playing with an angelic reverb, the lady was either dead or sleeping but in front of everything, there was yellow leaves was moving in deadly peace. I also couldn't remember exactly how it was when I woke up and made a bad imitation of it like Tartini. Another thing I don't understand of this song is, it's 16 min long but for example in the dream I saw, the melodies were 16 bar long at most. It's impossible to hear very long composition in a dream I guess. So probably this 16 mins is also is like telling a frustration how he can't exactly remember that!
