[TAS] Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 CE - Cell's Games with Cell + Bonus

This is a TAS (Tool Assisted Superplay) of the PlayStation 2 videogame "Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 Collector's Edition" (european version), played on PCSX2-rr emulator.
Recording this one meant a lot of work for me. I had to record each fight separately, plus the intro part that I TAS'd as well, for a total of 3-4 hours of work.
I found out that next opponent in the tournament isn't fixed, but it's decided by the RNG during the end of the previous match. Not only that, but you can meet up even more than 2 different opponents: in fact, in the scrapped attempts, I could have fought Broly or Teen Gohan instead of Omega Shenron.
As you can briefly see during the intro, I equiped Cell with all his capsules singularly, to lower the damage output and make the matches a little longer (3 HP bars get melted in a heartbeat with "Breakthrough"), plus "Turtle Shell" to avoid CPU teleport spam. In fact, even if CPU during Cell games is set to Hard & Very Hard, they didn't teleport.
Lastly, to get over the 10 minutes threshold, I added a bonus fight, with alt costume, jap dub and a different location. I made it so I could get 3 MAX during the Ultimate struggle, since in the final I couldn't due to RNG reason. I also used "Concentration" instead of "Turtle Shell" to make things more interesting.

that is attributable to the fact Cell is ostensibly voiced by the same guy (Norio Wakamoto) in the original track for anime and games alike, irrespective of forms. Cell’s voice inconsistencies are solely peculiar to the western edition of the game.

Something good ... I like it, especially since there is no tournament in infinite World. I also like budokai3 more because of the dragon rush, because some characters have different cancellations and different attacks, and because of the power clashes and charged hit clashes. And because Cell is one of my favorite characters. 😤 Good vid. 👍👍👍👍👍

Pretty much, you get a new outfit for Goku (Halo I think?), Piccolo (King Piccolo), and Trunks (Saiyan Armor) [Through passwords] and the option to switch to Japanese voices.

"Turtle Shell" is a whole different thing from "Breakthrough": the first halves the Ki needed to dodge&teleport for both opponents, the second equips all the moves a character has while also boosting their damage by 50%.

One thing that i always found lazy is that Cell's voice in his different transformation stages is incorrect.

I mean it makes sense because the same VA in JP was the same person, but I see what you mean for this. It's been like this for a ton of games, cell always uses his imperfect voice usually.

Pretty lame nowdays. Maybe, back in the early 2000, it was cool, or at least bearable, but after B3 came out B2 gameplay showed off all of his flaws.

There are a lot of differences, the main ones are: 1) Supers are now chainable with every move you land. 2) Fatigue gauges works differently. 3) Slot system totally revamped. I prefer IW overall, but some characters are better played on B3.

Well, beside being a TAS, Ultimates struggle minigame has a specific frame during which, if you press X, you get the MAX. Doing it three times fills up the bar completely.

@@likeapeanut3117 The frame exists on the original console as well, but you don't have TASing Tools to help you find it, so you can only press X and hope to get it.

Quite. TASing Tools allow you to slow down and replay every single segment you play, till you get the wanted result. They need knowledge of the emulator AND the game to be used, but once you get the hang of those, gameplay will look like this. ;)
