This is a Tool-assisted speedrun. Save states, slow-motion/frame advance, and memory watches were used to optimize playtime. Emulated on Dolphin 5.0-10729, a free and open-source Gamecube and Wii emulator.
Final Time (RTA timing): 33:29.28
Starting at Chariot selection, ending at Bomb Drop Button Press
Final in-game frame(TAS timing): 57557
Dolphin has definitely improved in the last few years. There were no desyncs and few graphical glitches while making this run. I was able to run this game up to 200% speed with a GTX 960M.
I was unable to find any time saving out of bounds tricks. A lot of time was wasted on levels like Rocherath just waiting for timers to finish between objectives. Noticeable saves were in Stalingrad by skipping my allies to have a gate opened early, and in Farmhouse Liberation by grabbing rockets while the bomb timer was counting down.
This run took about 60 hours over 2 months to complete. Weekends are the only time I have to work on these.
I could have saved more time by traveling in straighter lines and optimizing my turns, but that would have meant less entertainment.
LiveSplit did not give accurate times. By the end of the game, it was 2 seconds fast. Possible due to added lag frames when rerecorded with LiveSplit.
Level times are:
