Top Gear 2 has the player racing on 64 tracks divided among 16 countries, gradually upgrading one's vehicle until it can become competitive in the top tiers.
In this run, Technickle ( tasvideos.org/... ) completes all of the tracks but uses strategic collisions into walls to skip various laps. This run represents an improvement of 04:00.34 minutes over the author's previous submission, achieved through more optimized gear switching and better driving.
We also have a run that starts at the last country with no upgrades and another run that completes the first game in the series.

Road Rash's full gameplay was like that. That was a pity because I liked the game, but it was fucking frustrating to play because of its awkwardness due to the torturous FPS.

A TAS where you barely win some races. Is the rubberbanding that awful?

The rubberbanding will only occur if the player 1 car is slow enough. This is seen in Dooty's TAS with minimal upgrades. The route uses gearbox level 2 at Ayers Rock, and doesn't have an upgrade till Loch Ness. The Sydney race is without wet tires, which is required for this route since the money I'll get is for the Nitro upgrade at Loch Ness. Top Gear 2 Rubberbanding compared to Top Gear 3000 Rubberbanding a lot different as well. Top Gear 3000 rubberbanding is every 1 second if the car has poor upgrades.

@@Technickle i notice in top gear 2, if you hit any car at very high speed, the CPU car is gonna have your speed and you are not able to catch up with him, cuz the game is not like the first one, maybe they forgot to adjust that!

Not related to the speedrun, but how did they make the roads curve up and down in this game? And how did they make those tunnels? I know it's Mode 7, but I want to know a little more on the technical side of it.

None of it is Mode 7 actually. It's all common line scrolling techniques. That's also why the Mega Drive port actually runs smoother too.

this game lags a shit ton, it alternates between like 12 and 24 sometimes i think, could be wrong.

Top Gear 1 also has a similar problem when one of the players goes into the pitstops, suddenly the entire game runs faster or slower.

Top Gear 2 doesn't have the best framerate on SNES. The Mega Drive version runs the smoothest and appears to run on a higher resolution, but I found that version to be worse since it seemed like a direct 68000 port from the Amiga 500 version, complete with having to choose SFX or music, lol. It also had its own issues like the mediocre to awful music renditions thanks to the Sound Images driver used. And before Amiga fanboys begin whining about their version being better, it isn't. It runs in a worse framerate (especially the CD32 version) with worse drawn graphics, though I will concede the music is excellent and is probably better than the SNES version.
