I just listen to "Notion" for the first time 2 days ago. I listen and look for everything Tash is doing now or has done, I must say she has great taste in music, the moment she said "dreams" I instantly understood why I have to hear everything she has done! Many blessings Tash~~~

This is a really illuminating list for understanding their sound, actually... reminds me of Stephin Merritt talking about how David Bowie's "Low" completely changed the way drums were recorded-- it uses these like superlayered drums. Tash thinks about songs as composed of all these pieces because they have the technology to put them together in real time. Awesome

Apparently "Taro" by Alt-J is about the process of a war photographer(Robert Capa) dying after stepping on a land mine and getting his leg blown off. He reunites with his partner, Gerda Taro, who was also a war photographer and died earlier. It's a very weird song. Tash, I don't know if you ever looked at the lyrics, but if you did and still liked the song, you got weird tastes. But I respect that. I actually did like the song more when I read the lyrics and knew what the song was about because I'm in to weird, disgusting poetry.

All great songs, I was anticipating Purple Rain being one of them. Tasha's guitar playing is probably the only one that I've ever heard that resembles Prince, especially the guitar solos in Notion and Jungle.

If only that Phil Collins story was true. It's not at all true. The man himself has said it's about his bitterness with the end of his first marriage. It's very symbolic but the lack of specificity in the lyrics allows for varied interpretations.
