It’s always interesting to watch this with so many leading gifts flow together. I admire the humility and teamwork yet as a worship leader it also grieves me to think of how their gifts have to be suppressed because someone had the idea to put them all on one stage at the same time on a regular basis, just interesting.

Latoya Boggans I disagree that it is about suppression. When people in the congregation go to church they are not supposed to care about who has a Dove-worthy vocal ability or talent! This is worship service. The ONLY person worthy and deserving of their undivided attention from start to finish is Jesus! Full stop. Worship leaders are LEADERS there to serve the congregation, by leading them into the presence to prepare their hearts to receive the seed of the word of God so that healing, forgiveness, transformation and conviction can take place. Good worship leaders know how to turn it down for the sake of those they serve. The high notes, falsettos and runs need to be saved for their tours and their solo albums, not Worship Service. A member of the congregation is far too intimidated to attempt to offer worship to God because the worship leader is getting the limelight and has a vocal ability they don’t have. Then it becomes a performance not worship. And idolatry.
