Ok… You hit a home run in this video!! Thank you!! Your explanation was perfect!! Here is another topic… In a recent discussion with my OTR friend in lovely Montana- - she asked for ideas to engage a zipper on a jacket with her student with cortical blindness- including impaired tactile abilities… I mentioned I would refer this topic to you for suggestions… Wishing you an inspired day and thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences with others… Ellen from PA😊

Haha, thank you Ellen! I think you may be my number 1 supporter!!! I am loving all of these video suggestions. I'll brainstorm for your friend and see if I can come up with anything - it sounds like a complicated case

@@TheOTGuide Greetings…You are sharing your knowledge and I respect the time and talent it takes to complete this task … will you be attending the conference in Texas?… years ago Philadelphia was the host and we enjoyed that as it was close… I look forward to watching your next videos… I will “Pass “ your video links to my friendly OT’s… I think that is why OT is so special…Ellen from PA😊

Thank you! Your video really breaks down my task of making task boxes! One question...how do you implement in a classroom setting with several students? Does each student have a color and own set of numbered boxes.....do you create out of numbered sequence strips for students to follow-because they all cant work on #1 at the same time... I have been an MU teacher for decades - but new to the AU world and struggling to make their days as productive and smooth as possible.

Hello and welcome! Thank you for your kind words! And I'm so sorry for completely missing your question, I don't know how it flew under the radar for so long! Anyway, In a classroom setting with many students, here are two of my favorite ways to implement this system- Each student can have an individual task strip or schedule that dictates the order of tasks they should follow. This strip can have a mix of colors and numbers to ensure no two students are working on the same task at the same time. For example, Student A’s strip could be: Red Box 1, Blue Box 3, Green Box 2, etc., while Student B’s strip might be: Blue Box 1, Red Box 3, Green Box 1. This strategy is a bit of work for you to set up, but it ensures that each kid is working on their own box. You could also pair your students up so two students are working together on the same box, which I think makes it a bit easier on the teacher. Other strategy- set up different stations around the classroom, each with a set of task boxes. You can set a timer for 5 minutes, and students in the same group all work together on the same box/activity. This approach not only prevents bottlenecks but also encourages movement and engagement. This one is easier to set up and implement in my opinion. Plus, you wouldn't need so many different activities, you could just create a few different task boxes with the same activity if that makes sense, since more kids will be working on it. By combining these strategies, you can create a more efficient and personalized system for managing task boxes, even with a larger number of students. It's about finding the right balance and routine that works best for your classroom dynamics. If you have any more questions or need further clarification, feel free to ask. Good luck with your task boxes, and thank you for your dedication as a teacher! -Dana

Thank you so much for your great videos! They are so helpful:)Do you have any advice where i could shadow just to see if the job would be for me.I feel like they offer it mostly only to students but not working adults.I am trying though. I live in South Carolina (close to Greenville) Thank you so much😊

Hey Nadine!! Thank you so much for your sweet comment (and sorry for my delayed response!) When I was considering OT, I reached out to as many OT clinics/hospitals in my area I could find to see if they had a shadow or volunteer program. I think it's smart to shadow so you can see if the day-to-day is actually something you'd be interested in!! I'm not familiar with your area, but I'd do a little google search ('OT near me') and call around!! Good luck!! - Dana
