The demeaning task is one of my favourite team tasks to date. It's cleverly constructed with either team able to win if they happen to say demeaning. But the best part is the laid back duo vs the excitable trio. Such a good dynamic.
'Ambassador, you are really spoiling us', is a reference to a famous UK advert for Ferrero Rocher, a type of chocolate balls covered in nuts we were all tricked for years into thinking were fancy. Just one of those cultural things we joke about now.
David and Jo pausing for a little chat and cup of tea is just awesome. Was really hoping they'd accidentally win that, but comparing the distances the teams traveled was hilarious.
I REALLY enjoy this lineup, there seems to be every single type of contestant in this group. They feel like they span the whole spectrum of contestants from the incompetent to the competitive and are all distinct and funny on their own way. (But yes, Rose is my personal favourite too.)
That visual of the old people vs the kids in that team task is so brilliant here lol. I'm glad you're enjoying Jo as much as I thought you would. So many people think she's just an obnoxious old fart, but she embraces that and that's what I love about her lol.
The team task in this one, is one of my all time faves. Any time you see a map showing distances travelled ... I'm in! Boy are you in for a treat with the team tasks in this series 🙂
Love your reactions! This is one of my favourite seasons of Taskmaster - primarily because of Jo Brand (she's a hoot :)). I know this would be outside of your usual, but could you please react to Tim Minchin's song Play It Safe (the song and music video made for the Sydney Opera House 50th Anniversary)? I'd like to see you reaction because it would be A: yours and B: by an Australian :).
This series is so good. I love how you're already getting a great idea of exactly the kind of contestant each of this lot are. Ed's my favourite but rooting for Rose is completely unstandable and the Ed-Rose rivallry is great fun to see. (Especially knowing they are really close friends outside of the show). I also think Jo Brand is an underrated gem this season. I never liked her as a comedian / tv personality in the past but her on this show completely flipped my view of her and truely made me appreciate her wit and (at times) great effort in the tasks despite her attitude this season being "not giving a single fuck".
You’re so hard on the Australian version! Try the American one, my dude, it is a TRAIN WRECK. At least yours is watchable and pretty funny! Our was…. Well they made some format changes that really sucked, but it was doomed once they picked the US taskmaster. (I have my own theories as to how that happened.)
I have said this before, but I think it would be really, REALLY foolish to skip season 1 of New Zeeland Taskmaster, since it has it's charm also. (And yes, I will keep making this same comment for each episode, until I've managed to change your mind. XP)
