In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

This was also during covid, so the audience whilst present was limited due to social distancing practises. It was around the same as UK series 10 but NZ didn't have many if any cases at the time so they had covid protocols in the studio but very much relaxed compared to UK. I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong) it was only the studio filming that was affected by covid

Too much so imho. As a non-NZ viewer with no reference to know if this really is just an act, as I've never seen him anywhere else, he managed to get me close to not wanting to continue watching this after only two episodes (I'm still yet to watch this 3rd one). Act or not, he here displays pretty much every aspect of low-life "alpha" needy dumb people that make me ashamed to be of the same species. So much so that even as a joke or act, it's offputting enough to taint the show very noticably.

People have negative things to say about Jeremy as a Taskmaster compared to the others, but that half point was such a stroke of quirky genius! No other Taskmaster has done something like it and every time the series scores get shown you get to laugh again at the half point. I do like how loose Jeremy's relationship to scoring is - he's even more likely than Greg to go "1st place is 3 out of 5 possible points and nobody really won the task"

@@redhedinsanityYeah, I liked the half point when it shocked me being given, and loved it as it showed up all season. I wasn't thrilled at first with him, but appreciate that it is mostly just to the point & next. No idea if the timing matches, but feels like get more time for the tasks with him.

Most of other versions are good. Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish are great. In Finnish version they tried 4 permanent participants and 1 new guest every episode. Made a lot of sense for team tasks. You only have to avoid Spanish and USA versions.

So much negativity in the comments! It's the first season... they haven't found their groove yet. Even the UK version took some time to figure out what clicked with the audience. I recall that in one of the early UK series, someone got low points for abusing Alex. Now they'd get big points for making Alex standing in a tree naked. I'm sure Paul knows what his future holds as this show finds it's pace and audience.

Here in California, near the very top of highway 198 between San Lucas and Coalinga, we have an underwear tree. Some lonely oak tree was minding its own business when a confused traveler decided that it was a good idea to decorate it with their underwear. It's happened 4 times in the OG as far as I can recall - Mel Giedroyc getting -4 for eating chocolate (also Joe Lycett got the penalty but he got 5 for the task itself, so he ended up with 0), Mark Watson & Nish Kumar getting -2 for voting themselves in the poll and not winning, everyone except Rylan Clarke in the first New Year's Treat getting -1 for picking the same item in the live task and Victoria Coren Mitchell and Desiree Burch getting -5 for not ringing the bell. Although if I'm not mistaken, this came before the latter two.

The one thing that still feels missing is Jeremy's contempt for the competing comedians and diminutive-yet-endearing comments towards Paul. The opening banter is also not quite to par with the rest of the show, but that will smooth out with time to help adjust the audience to the broad sense of humor upcoming in the show.

watched NZ. Its super. The Taskmaster there ist kinda different like a teacher. Greg is more like give me your milkmoney. At this point i like greg more but in the journey of the tasks the other one makes it up, little by little. There are many taskmaster around the world at this Point. I would like a special incl viewer participation (App!?) where very Strong competitor, like the guy with Money or the cunt bathing with taskmaster mother, compete and all taskmaster compete with another. Intro: the host explains the show. Original: Some ridiculous monologue, where Greg Davies regularly cant holt a straight face. Paul Williams Bit: he tried to copy a skit from Alex Horne, where one "drink" was an undiluted sirup and the other water. Paul did... two nice things? When he was sucking his tubes... no comment?! NOTHING funny? You *clearly* did not understand what made the original show funny.
