In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

Jeremy being so good at the guessing and causing everyone to fail last episode gives his taskmaster the vibe of being the crowned the task master because he himself has overcome and mastered all the tasks.

Upon rewatch I also realized that with the end point as the start that the fact that the compass was broken was irrelevant as long as it always pointed in the same direction.

@@xipheonj the compass wasn't broken, it was being affected by the magnet that was in Paul's jacket. So whenever Paul got close enough, the compass would point towards him.

@@xipheonj magnets f up the normal functioning of compasses. his was very big so it could have been strong enough to mess up the directions from more than a meter away, as well was confuse guy with randomly changing directions (paul is first in front, then behind his right)

The banter in all NZ series is hilarious. UK TM banter has legendary moments but I feel like the contestants in NZ dive right into it, get into arguments/bits about their tasks constantly and it's super entertaining. I feel like Jeremy is underwhelming as Taskmaster - huge shoes to fill comparing to Greg. Paul WIlliams is crushing it as assistant, took Alex's style of comedy and gave it his own twist without it feeling like a cheap copy which I'm sure is really hard to to.

@@hannibotI think the best banter in UK was season 7 and even that was part banter, part Acaster/Rhod ridiculousness in the best kind of way. Although Jessica's "my agent said it would be a good career opportunity" and of course "A LAMINATOR!!!" do hold their own. And whatever bullshit Phil came up with for his prize task haggling I guess lol.

@@NoahStew Exactly. TM NZ lets their comedians shine and it really worked well in this series, but it also suffers when the chemistry is not there. Greg, on the other hand, has to do the heavy lifting in the studio to mask the lack of banter or "boring" task attempts with his larger than life Taskmaster persona.

Paul is an amazing assistant TM. I was thinking the other day how his bro Guy from S01 would have maybe made an interesting TM especialy with paul as his assistant. Jeremy is a good presenter, but I think Guy would have brought more energy/enthusiasm too the roll. But it could have also been horrible, who knows lol.

@@tsurutom Wrong. First of all a headband is a tie-shaped object, not the other way around, so it is innovative to use an object in a different way than it ever has before. Second of all, her tie innovation wasn't JUST a headband - it was also as shoe laces too! While it's in the realm of possibility for someone to have seen a tie used as a headband before - absolutely no one has seen a tie used as shoelaces!

I have been loving TM NZ. I tried the other subtitled shows but this series is my favorite, kind of hope we also get to see Australia too. Love David's frustration, Guy rocks mega creativity in movie type tasks, Ursala seems to not care about the game, Matt tends to be aloof but works well in team challenges, Laura is just so damn cute 😊

For more Taskmaster shenanigans I'm recommending the Taskmaster Minnesota University fan series here on RU-vid! It's really funny and some of the tasks rival the original series. And there are even cameos of the UK Taskmaster cast and crew. Series 2 is out now I also recommend headphones in a noisy room, as the audio is not always perfect.

I like how the show is getting better and better. After all the chemistry between the Hosts is now much tighter and closer to the show from the UK. I may have claimed harsh commentary in the past but it was given as I felt that way. Now I see an show that has two hosts suporting each other and the cast to fire it all up. You reached the status of the original show and I am happy to never skipped an single show on RU-vid. And.. Yes! - I always leave a like and I try to do my best of giving Commentary to what I see to keep pushing everyone involved to keep up for the best. Here I go: You are the best. As for the spelling bee, it's "Guy Montgomery's Guy Mont-Spelling Bee 2021 #1" (only the five contestants). Edit: This is my assumption when it came to the "commentary." I'm not sure if there's been other commentaries done through other mediums.

I like that they all understand the prize task differently. Matt: Something never meant to be eaten that just looks edible David: makes something look like food via the container Guy: Decorations that just happen to look like candy Ursula: actual food that tastes horrible Laura: Plush made in the shape of food I feel that Matt and Guy were the only ones who understood the task, but maybe my brain just works like theirs, and it is entertaining to see how everyone else thinks. I still would've liked to see other examples of inedible things that accidentally looked like food, such as windshield wiper fluid that looks like blue energy drink or potpourri that looks like ground nuts.
