The difference with the other Islands in the South Pacific compared to Tasmania is that Tasmania is in Australia which have a strong and steady economy compared to Island countries who depend on aid. Excluding Papua New Guinea too much politics.

Sad the you had to endure the feral wildlife in Tasmania ( noisy protestors ). Unfortunately Tasmania has the dubious distinction of being the home of the worldwide Greens movement with their extremist anti everything politics. I hope you enjoy Australia regardless of their obnoxious behaviour
