Tasmania's Parliament has seen hundreds of protestors gather outside to oppose the $715 million plans to build a stadium in the state's capital city of Hobart.
The protests follow two Tasmanian MPs quitting the state's elected Liberal Party yesterday which has plunged the nation's last Liberal government into a minority.
The stadium was a key condition from the AFL before they approved a 19th team licence for Tasmania to enter the competition.

I’m not convinced gun draftees from especially northern and west Australia will want to go there anyway. Especially if they’re crap the first few years. They might want to be going home to mum. Interesting how it all pans out.

@@petersanders2815 - Will make a big difference to have adequate conditions and facilities. Some won't want to go anyways, but its better than having nobody want to go. More likely to be most appealing to dudes with families I think, for a more low-key lifestyle. The team needs to be brought into the comp differently than GC and GWS were, to be at least 6-14 on the ladder early years.

You have to ask yourself over the past approximately 130 years how much has Aussie rules contributed to the coffers and society of Tasmania. Outside of things like health, security and the like if any organisation is worthy one would have to think no further than.......

You have to invest in the economy to be able to afford welfare. Many governments have failed at building houses as it depends on local governments and the same people calling for it don’t want the development in their areas. Investors are keeping houses empty. Throwing money at the problem won’t fix it.

If some people are entitled to public housing, then a home owner like myself should be entitled to it aswell. I'll live rent-free in public housing while I rent my own house out to renters. How does that sound? See where this is going? You want to hand out freebies to some people, then you need to hand out freebies to to everyone.

That's like being mad that you can't get money from centrelink, even though you have a full time job and thus aren't entitled to any financial assistance from the government. These social services are designed to help people in need - not well-off homeowners.
