The chamomile tea would be good for the trenches because of its anti-inflammation characteristics. In Latvian chocolate, you can expect more actual cacao, than junk, like most of the European fake chocklets...it has cacao, milk, sugar, and little salt - that's it,.. no fancy nitrates, colours, etc. So You can even met it with hot water and You have yourself a cacao drink. Rye bread is a really good thing and many cultures should feel jealous that it is not as available as in Baltic countries - it is great with soups, salads... it is great to put fish, salami, all kinds of bacon on it. The bread overpowers tomatoes or eggs on it, so that's more for the white bread. My sister lives in Norway, the rye bread, or we call it rough bread is the thing she always asks to take with us when we visit her... that makes a great home feeling. The rye bread is also much more healthy - has more actual fibres - 3X, less fat, mobe B vitamins and magnesium. It is both sweet and sour with usually some cumin in it.
Brilliant video.... absolutely cracked me up watching you try that chocolate lol..and your coffee. On a more serious note it's interesting watching what these packs have inside them, so thank you 👍
Dan, the Honey is a natural sweetener, put it on/in owt you need to sweeten. It’s also a natural antiseptic. So any open wounds, clean them first and then apply honey to the dressing you are about to apply. Stay safe
Hey Dan. That chocolate disappointment was keenly sharp. Nothing disappoints more than bad chocolate! The bread, as a few others mentioned, is made with the grain called Rye. It's in the same family of plant as Wheat and Barley. While eaten sporadically for a long time, it was only cultivated intentionally about 900 year ago. The benefit it has over wheat and barley is that it will grow farther north into colder lands. Yes, it does have a noticeable taste to it, and some people push hard on that difference adding flavors like caraway or fennel to it. I like it hot toasted and covered in butter myself, going to have to get some honey next time I am out. Some of the other food items enjoyed specifically with rye bread are pastrami, cream cheese, pickled fish and sliced hard boiled eggs. If I did a ration pack with Rye I'd put in a good pâté for it (not sure how cream cheese would hold up in a ration). Here in Canada we make Whiskey from it :) too.
Rye bread is the most popular bread in Latvia. These people don`t eat typical white bread we`re eating out here in Europe. That`s why they don`t have weight problems :D
Give the Mrs that chocolate for Easter 🤣🤣 , great review on the food fella and that green tea, tastea like rubbish really 🤣 you won't sleep tonight with that coffee fix. Keep up the good work pal
i think the honey is multifunctional nice on toast or in coffee and excellent in porridge along with a few cranberries to jazz it up a bit 😋 but its a antifungal too so can be used medicinally! magical stuff honey Dan 🍯 😁
Dan in this day and Age an 8 hour ration pack is full of Air what with the cutbacks, for example......Ear sarge what we got for supper tonight........Laddy a full bag of Crisps and a ten mile Hike
Looks good and would like to try one but their alittle hard to get in the states. Are you sure they didn't put a laxative in your meal instead of a chocolate bar.lol 🤔
These are commercial tourist rations more than actual military grade stuff, hence the colourful packaging. But are often sold on eBay or ration vending sites as military. The official Latvian military ration comes in a brown bag very similar in design and shape to the polish SRG but in a tan coloured bag, the main meals come in a green coloured bag.
Nope man, the old version came in a brown trashbag and this is the new standard issue mre since 2022. We are extremely grateful for this new one, because the food tastes like made in home unlike the old ones that i would not give to my dog. No one would take the old ones out for field drills, everyone would usually take grocery store food with them. Everyone in my company loves the new ones
That actually very illegal to sell Latvian military equipment, including MRE's :) But "pure' coffee sounds about right. Coffee is something to wake you up, it's not about nice coffee drinks... you put honey in a tea, normally it would be black tea, though! cranberries are good for liver... tea, green tea is gross everywhere tbh (also Lloyds isn't Latvian brand) and youŗe absolutely meant to enjoy rye bread with main course! :)
Dan in short love the reviews on ration packs , when yer Hungry cold and wet, it does the job, And sorry for spamming the comment section with my replies lol, can't beat a bit of tinned spam
Love these videos, your reactions are priceless. Maybe add the dried fruit to the porridge? I do that on occasion for more flavour. And maybe they deliberately put the toilet paper in there for the chocolate. They seemed to pair up well.
Miks).
Getting hungry every time you're reviewing food.. actually..always when you're eating 😜.. looking like a child in a candystore! So nice to see! In Belgium we would call you a Bourgondiër..
I'd put the honey in the porridge ... Shame about the chocolate. Wonder if it was American chocolate like hershey which tastes like sick 🤢 Great video again 👏 👍
Hi brother I do believe the Chinese use honey instead of sugar so I’d imagine is for your green tea as for the bread it’s a rye bread (rie bread) it’s more of an American thing from 1 dispastic 😂😂😂😂 to another lol cheers brother
Haha pissed myself laughing mate when you tasted that chocolate lol mayb the honey was to put over the chocolate to disguise how crap it was thanks for sharing but the Latvian s can keep it lol
HI, watching your taste testing at the mo. The green tea might be more to your taste with some of the honey. I was waiting for a pack of butter to come out to go with the bread. but no butter. Was the chocolate a laxative. Your face! Never seen you like that. Glad that the meat and potato meal made up for the terrible chocolate. I am still laughing.
I found someone's geo cache of food last year , decided to try a pack of their salted nuts . Nearly vomitted them straight up , they weren't stale , they were just like eating cheese flavoured peanuts .. they were from a ration pack .. Malt loaf , not a good start . Rye bread . Scabby honey . Heat pack .. can't eat it .. Coffee .. Jesus , enough coffee to kill a rabbit .. Green tea , pointless tea . Hand gel aka vodka Rice porridge with strawberries .. winner Poo roll , enough paper to clean up the honey . Fruit and nut with chocolate .. You're getting the home feeling from that meal bag . I'm thinking it's a scam straight off . Doesn't come with a kettle or a scissors . No bloody milk I'm going to score this bag a minus 4 out of 10 . Put the honey in coffee or porridge.
Please don’t buy a Russian ration pack or anything Russian. I have friends fighting in Ukraine. It’s up to you what you decide but remember every penny spent on Russian stuff goes on the war. 🥺🥺🥺🥺
Thanks for interesting review. Talking about this chocolate I don't understand why do these makers of MRP have put that sh!tty imported chocolate in. We have really good sweets produced in Latvija. Perhaps the cheap price was the reason.
Hi pal tried to message u on Facebook I got a message from utube saying winner and to replay on an app called telegram and its from a comment I put on your channel is it from u or a scam as it was posted at 520am
