The Sugar Apple is a very delicious tropical fruit. It is low maintenance and very easy to grow. Enjoy it straight from the tree or make a delicious shake with vanilla ice cream. One of the most amazing fruits you will ever eat.
I’m totally in awe! We call this fruit anonas in Costa Rica and to know that we can grow these in Tampa is such a joy. Do you have any trees to sell? Thank you, you’re very thorough and easy to comprehend. 🙏🏼
I'm looking to sell maybe in the near future.Next USF garden show is in October. They do sell them there. They can die if the winter gets too cold. So you will need to protect the tree.
I wish we could grow that in Tennessee ! At 5:05 you stated no pest problems ? If you wake up one morning and the trees are without fruit. I just want you to know it wasn't me. Forget I'm fast sleep with a fat belly and wet napkins all around me in the middle of your garden
I germinate the seeds in solo cups with some wholes in the bottom. Germination rate is very high. In Spring when they are about five inches I transplant them to a three gallon pot. They are so easy to grow!
We are new to Florida. Where can I buy that sugar apple tree or the fruit to grow the tree? I live in Lutz too! I have watched a lot of your video’s. I noticed that you have your trees close together. How did you make that choice. Do your have city plumbing or septic? Where I am it’s septic, so I have to be careful where I plant my trees. Let me know. Thank you.
You can buy a tree from Jene's Tropicals in St. Pete. Yes, my trees are close together because I have limited space in the enclosed garden area. Hasn't been a problem up to this point. I have septic and well and I have not planted anything close to my septic tank. Happy growing!
Hi Venelle, Thanks for commenting. We are not having showings at this time but maybe in the near future. Glad you are motivated to grow. Best Hobby ever. God Bless!
You can probably buy them on-line. I had to start growing more trees all over again since I lost my large tree from a winter freeze. So I do not have any seeds at this time. Sugar apples are grown in South Florida so i'm sure if you can get hold of the fruit in the summer time you can get some seeds. USF here in Tampa is have the fall Garden show this weekend so you can always pick up a tree at the show.
Actually I planted a Fuyu persimmons last month. It's dormant now but I hope to get some fruit maybe this summer. My friend just gave me a persimmons yesterday and it was very good. I like the taste of it but I still love my sugar apples more. Which persimmons is better, the Fuyu or the hachiya? Happy Growing.
@@tropicalfruitman4394 hachiya is astringent, fuyu is not. fuyu is squat (pumpkin) shaped and hachiya is more oval (egg) shaped. basically you can eat fuyus even if it's still crunchy (hard) and not get traumatized. with hachiyas, you have to wait till it's absolutely soft and squishy (ripe) before eating - coz if you eat anytime before that, you will get ptsd lmao! personally i think hachiyas are sweeter, though it may be because we have to wait till it reaches the peak of ripeness before eating. it's like eating jam syrup i love it!
You are exactly right. My neighbor picked up a hachiya a couple of years ago and not knowing any better I tried to eat it before it was ripe and yes I am still in therapy today (LOL). I will stick with the Fuyu variety. Happy Growing!
