*New here?* We've got lots more to share from Croatia, be sure to subscribe and turn on notifications to watch along: goo.gl/SWdJQH PS: 12:20 is the real highlight of this one 🤣
If you stayed in Croatia for a month you still wouldn't have discovered half of it. Good luck on your travels and come back soon to see more of our beautiful country =)
Next time when you came in Europe or Croatia, come in Bosnia too! One of the best food in the world so far I eated is from Bosnia and Herzegovina! AND ITS VERY VERY GOOD!! I mean my recomended!🤗
Thank you for promoting Zagreb! It’s my hometown and I currently live in California...I miss the atmosphere of Zagreb and Croatia so much ❤️🇭🇷Also, go to the island Vis to Komiža and get a taste of heaven on Earth 🌏 much love and have fun, guys! 😊
komandantData Zivio cijeli zivot u Zagrebu i preselio se u North Carolina prije 5-6mjeseci. Imam jos godinu dana dok se ne mogu preselit natrag. How do you manage being in Cali? I mean I just miss Zagreb so much that I’m not even trying to integrate here... How did you get used to Cali??
Hey can you share few things to me since I visited Croatia last year and I loved it . So to spread a word about it in my country India 🇮🇳 I am writing a travel book on Croatia. So for that I want some information about it. Can you help?
Omg i barely watched the whole strukli part without eating my phone. I'm from Zagorje where strukli are originally from and now I'm having breakdowns bc I had to give up lactose 😂 btw great video, subscribed!
nznm kako tvoji to rade, ali meni mama napravi drukcije, ko male struklice, a ne ko neka pita da izgleda pa mislim da ovo sta su oni jeli da nije to to
Yes.. also. The planets are proportionally placed across Zagreb to represent true scale. For example, Earth is placed on the left corridor entrance to Dolac:)
Zagreb actually now has the most tourist in Croatia per year, it is however a year round destination so the crowds are more spread out and in the summer a huge number of the locals are actually on the Croatian coast which has its peak tourist season during the summer months due to the beaches etc and the town are smaller so seem more populated. Croatia has so much to see and so many sites whereas most people that go to Hungary and the Czech republic concentrate on Prague and Budapest. As an Aussie I have to say Croatia is one of the most beautiful countries in the world and I have seen most of Europe and Asia. Make sure you go to the Plitvice Lakes near Zagreb..eight hours of Lakes and waterfalls and one of the most gorgeous places in the world. Also towns of Sibenik, Split, one of the islands like Hvar and obviously you cant miss Game of Thrones land...Dubrovnik. Croatia is an absolute gem
Hi. I'm from Croatia so I can recommned few spots around you. Since you are in Zagreb you can go on Sljeme mountain above it. There is a small castle called Medvedgrad (interesting legend) or you can go on peak Sljeme where people of Zagreb like to go on weekends (also on weekend you can go in nearby town called Samobor - 20km away). Also in the middle of the week is better to go maybe in Maksimir park (nice walking and has a ZOO inside of it). If you rent a car again :) you can go northwest to Varaždin town and to Trakošćan castle (there are few castles in that part of country but this is the best one by my opinion).
We stopped in that craft beer place as well. We thought the same exact thing about how there are tourists... but it's not hectic (Prague is a great example as you said). We really loved Zagreb! - Trevor
jealous of all you guys! craft beer is delish, but unfortunately being gluten free now it's something I have to forego. On the plus, side, Croatian Rakia is always gluten free :) - did you guys get the chance to try that here?
Hi, as they mentioned crowds in Prague I just wanted to suggest to anyone considering visiting places like Prague or Dubrovnik, but worrying about crowds and high prices: tourism in Europe is highly seasonal, don't be afraid to visit during low traffic months like Nov., Jan., Feb., there is also a lot to do and see, you will have all those places (almost) just for yourself and cheaper accommodation as a bonus. Love your vlogs guys, thanks for posting!
My mom makes me strukli soup cause I love it so much (one of my favourite comfort foods). I was so happy to see you try the baked strukli cause I never knew that existed! Going to have to look into that!
"Zagorski Štrukli" in all vays, are our specialty. To me they are so good, that I could eat it almost every day. The beers you drank are the best in Croatia, there is no better than that.
I'm from Zagreb and i love my city so I'm glad that you are enjoying it too. You could also visit Jarun lake, Tuškanac park and Dubravkin put, Samobor, Sljeme, Lotrscak tower.. On Sundays there is a flea market with lots of old stuff being sold on Britanski trg and it's nice just to feel the vibe. If you come to west side of the city (for example if you want to visit lake Jarun its on the west) there is some great places to eat local food such as ćevapi or pljeskavica. Enjoy 😃
You forgot to mention Maksimir park and Mirogoj cemetary. Btw, when in Samobor, everyone goes for kremšnite, but give yourself a treat and try anything veal in Pri Gabreku. And some pancakes, while you're there. You'll thank me later! :)
Nah,I much more prefer kremšnite in Srebrnjak on Kvaternik square. Those famous in Samobor had taste on raw eggs, and consistency was not as it should be.No like. ;-)
@@slavensmolcic I actually poisoned myself with kremšite in Samobor few years ago during fašnik (carneval), at the one "renovned" place there. They were hot, tasteless and I had a stomachache for the next few following days. Never again, and I absolutely love kremšnite. My grandma makes them old school style with whipped cream, out of this world. No one can compare to hers, but few came close.
Cheers guys! I guess YT recommended me your Zagreb video, and since I'm a local and a travel enthusiast I wanted to check it out. I live in Zagreb, but am currently in Zadar on my vacation and will be going through more of your videos in the next few days. Love the style and presentation - subscribed! Good luck going forward!
your Štrukli pronounciation was actually pretty on point, usually foreigners can't pronounce it that well :D (one of the best traditional foods in my country (or at least my part of Croatia, there's pleeeenty of good food in different regions), alongside purica z mlinci :D ...google it it's the best :D)
As always, a perfect blend of feel good factor while keeping it real in this vlog. A colleague of mine has just returned from a train based tour of that part of Europe including Zagreb. He is giving it rave reviews too. All power to latte drinkers (my favourite caffeine fix) and so true about the temperature of coffee and tea served in Europe. In India, we found tea and coffee was always served piping hot - and Indian masala chai is something to dream of!
We can definitely understand why he gave it rave reviews, thoroughly enjoying Zagreb so far! Good to hear India knows how to serve there brews, masala chai sounds interesting.. will have to google that one.
@@DanegerAndStacey I've uploaded a short video to RU-vid on how I make it based on instructions from my relatives in India. Just click on my name and you will see it title "Chai garam chai"
We work from Airbnbs most of the time, cafes on occasions, coworking rarely/never really. We alway make sure to book the most functional house possible for that reason.
Happy 200th Episode Daneger and Stacy! 🍻 I always feel excited everytime I see a notification for your new video. I really feel like I'm there walking around the city with you guys! I'm glad I subscribed to your channel since Boracay PH episode! Cheers for the next 200 episodes and beyond! 🍻👍
Thanks for noticing! We probably should have done something to celebrate 🎉 Thanks for following with us for so long. Hope one day we can go back to Bora and see how much it's improved now! Or maybe we'll be back in the PH for our wedding :P
@@DanegerAndStacey Let's celebrate it with a bottle of San Miguel beer soon!😁 It's nice to know that PH is one of your options to be the venue of your "Big Day!" I'll be looking forward to watch it on your channel or perhaps witness it live! haha👍😄
Glad to see you hit up La Struk! You called it when you said that most people don't come to Zagreb and just stick to the coast. Zagreb is an incredibly beautiful city! IT IS LOVE! The feeling is mutual and don't fight it! haha Would love to know where you plan to visit on the coast and the islands.
If you get time I highly recommend trogir and the kastelas. That's south of trogir heading to split. Well worth a few hours wandering. It's beautiful and quiet and not very touristy.
I have stood inside that cathedral...and it was life altering.❤I wouldnt even know how to begin describing it. Walking into a candle lit cave like hallway to the ancient confessionals..something so special.
by the way to Split, you can find Krka National Park, this is river in Dalmatia hence you can find many places just there like old romans Burnum ruins, Visovac Monastery on lake/island and great waterfalls and nature closer to the sea known as Skradinski Buk.
I’m planning a trip in early June starting in Zagreb unfortunately only one night so your videos have helped me narrow down what I should do. I must applaud you and Stacey as you both are so charismatic to watch and informative at the same time. If I may make a suggestion in the future a map of where you are would be helpful as I had to use my mapquest while watching on my IPad to see where you are. Overall I am a follower and love the way the two of you are going thru life’s journey. My second and third leg of trip is Split then Dubrovnik and was wondering from Split should I hire a car or do bus to get to Dubrovnik?
@ Daneger and Stacey - at the place you had beer you can also have pretty good meals. but you , pretty much, can't miss with any restaurant in center of Zagreb. if you are up for burgers, try them at Submarine in Frankopanska street, if you want sweets try "Torte i to" at Teslina.
Can't believe we didn't see this video until now! In 2015, we did a mini-tour of the Balkans (including Zagreb), and my husband still longs for strukli. We spent several afternoons at La Struk! (If you ever get back there, try the blueberry!!)
Suzana X To each his own, I guess. Don't get me wrong, I like them baked too. ;) But boiled, I just made them the other day and they were delicious... :D
You also have lot of things in the continental croatia, if you like mountains you have Velebit, if you like wine, visit baranja, if you like meat visit slavonija, you also have wine marathon in Zmajevci, mediveal castles in Zagorje.. etc 😀
Glad you loved the city. The štrukli are my all time favourite meal in Zagreb...I could eat it every single day. Next time you are in ZG, stop by to a place called Samobor ( it is quite near Zg) and try their speciality - Kremšnita (very creamy cake)
Heat affects the flavour of the coffee. this is why most of of them are not very hot but that should be the same everywhere not just in europe. Anyways, your trips are amazing
Hot milk in with the coffee doesn't seem to impact the flavour in Australasia, but maybe theres a different method... we're by no means experts, just know how we like it :) Thanks for the comment mate!
@@DanegerAndStacey I used to work as waitress in Croatia and usualy when we do caffe late we don't boil the milk because then you can't get that cream on top, so maybe that is the reason why it is not super hot.
its less people cause alot of people from Zagreb go to the sea for summer :D and next time try the boiled struk,li its in my opinion even better. Have fun at the adriatic sea :D
We also eat boiled at home, they are really tasty. 😁 My grandma makes the best of course, but we try to copy her recipe. 😊 Have a great time in Croatia. 😊
4:10,Back in 1970' and 1980's,that was bar and Pizza place and Zagreb Movie theater inside and behind that building. On the weekends in the summertime when local people would leave city,we would have pizza and large pint of beer while waiting to see movie. At that time,my friends and me we were under age kids, probably no more that 15 years old! And many times movie we watched one of those softcore porno movie like Emmanuelle.
Slovenians do it with towed dough and filling with curd, eggs and whipping cream (not whipped) and sometimes add crushed walnuts we role it up and boil it for 30minutes.
I so love to see people enjoying themselves in my Zagreb. My hometown always looks somehow better through the eyes of our guests... Americans (and French and....) generally butcher the pronunciation of foreign words; not so in your case, dear globetrotters. You pronounced "štrukli" perfectly! (BTW, my favorites are those weird ones, boiled in soup. ) Your "nose" for coffee shops is also impeccable - "cogito" is among my favs, too (all three of their Zagreb locations). BTW, "cogito" is Latin for "I think" or "I am thinking" (Latin has only one present indicative tense). You know that Descartes' "Cogito, ergo sum.) Thank you for visiting, and come back!
Fabulous video! Zagorje is one region of Croatia, that Zagreb is located. Štrukle are a delicacy of Zagorje. You two have to go to Samobor and try Kremšnitu, which is more famous then štrukle.
i am Croatian, just moved from it , after 9 years...i only loved my neoghbour..so sick 6 tired of it, never loved capitals in general, again, except my neighbourhood. but i loooooooooooooove Croatia and whole of the ex- yugoslavia countries.....always suprises me how tourist behave... not the toursit type myself , even after 8 years havent been to many places in Zagreb, although i know 7% of it by heart...you can say its nice....but really sick and tired of traffic and all of that capital means, when you live non stop.. very glad to have moved

Im sorry you are doing the Cruise outside Summer. Hope the weather is okay as Croatia can cool down a bit in the second half of September so it will be a stroke of luck if you get Hot cruising beach weather.
"Štrukli" or ŠTRUKELJ (singular) is a Slovenian dish dating from 17. century Graz, which was a city full of Slovenian people and is also a recepie of a Slovenian cook from a monastery in that area. Štrukelj or Štruklji is a traditional Slovenian dish.

Stacey is the perfect Kiwi woman, gorgeous, loves beer and coffee, eats shit loads, and has a wicked sense of humour, you are so suited for each other. 😊
