By the way. It was Stephanie Nicole that first exposed Morphe for what they were. That was a fantastic video, she really went deep on the origins of the brand. It is beyond me that anyone even bought that garbage. People are so easily manipulated to waste their money.
I liked Stephanie Nicole ..how she would break down the ingredients and found that coastal scents and morphe were the same private labeling...and the quality...etc...she was really good...I wish she stayed YouTubing she would be popular ..I honestly think that Linda and her brother made out and got Gazillions and basically kept all their cash while letting forma brand take the hit..they appear to have done the same thing in the UK...leaving the staff in stores in the lurch...wow the repeated poor business behaviors...they were terrible long-term business owners.., their stores wouldn't have lasted due to the bad quality ..anyone could get bad quality..stores only last when the good quality can back it up..
As a Black woman, the Blake Lively shampoo doesn’t give as much sticker shock as it should. Natural hair care products, unfortunately, have always been more expensive than “standard” brands. Some start at $13 for a tiny bottle of shampoo. Edit: All my people with curly hair out there know what I'm talking about. The price we pay to have decent hair days. 🥲
gosh j charles is insufferable. random, but in the video with him fat shaming (like what the actual f... he isn't even trying in the SLIGHTEST to be somewhat of a decent human being) you could see one of his dogs walking by, and i feel so bad for those poor dogs, cos imagine living with a p word.
Every time I get a "clean" beauty ad on facebook I always ask what makes their brand "clean" but I've never gotten a response. I've been doing this for years.
After having clean products go rancid, and actually having even an eyeshadow palette (which we know eyeshadow seems to actually last forever, despite expiration dates), from Pacifica grew mold, I just can’t with no preservatives.
@@girrl88it doesn’t surprise me. Are a lot of the chemicals probably not needed - maybe. But some chemicals like preservatives stop mold from growing. It’s like a double edge sword. I like the thought of cleaner beauty. But depending on how it’s made, it becomes a health concern in another way.
@@hannathehumblebard101 yes, Smokey Glow's video was amazing! it would be a good place to get the more Basic info, since it's a little outdated by now. So it would be amazing to have Jen make a real deep dive on them🤩
As someone who worked in civil litigation, my instincts regarding the Tati lawsuits is that the Westbrooks were BY FAR the more credible litigants. The bottom line is that notwithstanding Plaintiff’s claims, HE was the one in charge of drafting the contracts. And lo and behold, the things he claimed he was “promised” were absent from the contract(s) it was in his interest to ensure were included. Had this gone to trial, Tati would almost certainly have prevailed in court, at the expense of her 👛. And for what? The best case scenario is that she’d be tethered in business to a disreputable individual who soured the whole relationship. I completely understand why she chose to walk away from Halo Beauty - and she made the right decision. Ultimately, I believe Plaintiff recognized he had a “cash cow” in Tati, and was angling for an illegitimate cut of ventures Tati pursued on her own. Contrary to his assertions, it was he who was the greedy partner. 😾
I absolutely love that ELF is creating more accessible products!! There are so many beautiful cosmetics that people with disabilities simply can’t use. Thanks for the great report!
Thank you for talking about how a product "selling out" is directly related to how many were made. I've been screaming this at the internet a lot lately because i keep hearing about how fast things sell out, in order to build hype. One more example of advertisers treating us like we're idiots (and some people falling for it)
16:08 there are too many brands. I’m honestly very fatigued. Even when I walk into a store it’s overwhelming to choose I just end up giving up. I don’t buy anything.
@@lanilynn1227 me too. It’s expensive to try everything out. I also have problems with shades because I’m olive toned and 80% of makeup looks terrible on me.
@@nexx410 Just little tip from one Olive to another... When looking up swatch videos and such, especially for things like lipstick and blush, look up videos of people who are around 2-4 shades darker than you. I am Fair Olive and for the longest time I could not understand why shades that look good on people with the same skintone as me but aren't olive, looked terrible on me, especially the lighter shades. But once I figured out to only watch swatch videos of those who are light warm or darker, it clicked that because of my olive undertone those lighter shades look washed out on me the same way they do on someone with a darker skintone than me.
I LOVED the original Tati palette. I actually just decluttered it last month just because it’s a warmer color story than I normally go for and because I have better formulas now; but it was absolutely revolutionary when it came out! I would definitely consider buying another palette from her as long as I like the formula and color story!
I am starting to think that people involved in the acting career goes hand in hand with becoming an entrepeneur eventually and selling something. It is a annoying..!🤷♀️ Even "The Rock" is selling hair prods and he has NO hair..!🤦♀️
I’m blind and I like make up. Long comment alert! Right now what I do is use an AI photo description application or an OCR scanner to identify my items, then I make a tactile marker or braille label to identify it from thereafter in less time then using an application takes. It isn’t that I haven’t been able to use or enjoy make up and now this will change the world and mean that I can, it is another way of getting the information that I need.. QR codes can be finicky, but having a tactile area where it is should help with that and I’m excited that a mainstream brand is doing something accessibility focused.
Using a hairmask every 2-3 days when you wash your hair is equally good to conditioner IF the price is the same/similar to the shampoo. The difference is that you leave a hair mask on longer, but my Yari Green Curls hairmask also says on the tin you can use it for a shorter amount of time for a quick nurishment, aka the same a conditioner should do
I have extremely dry hair (skin too), and live in the desert, and have been using a hair mask as my conditioner for almost a decade. I wash my hair first thing when I get in the shower, put in the mask, and then cover it with a shower cap while I do the rest of my shower which usually takes me 20 minutes or so. It works wonderfully and I am no longer doing double the work, or using double the product, for the same outcome.
I don't have strong feelings one way or the other toward Tati but I did think it was BS that J* and JC were able to just continue with their lives and Tati was trapped in this lawsuit for 4 years unable to grow her brands. 🤷♀ Glad she's free and I wish her success.
I don't understand why the workers in the UK stores are shocked or surprised that the Morphe stores are closing there. If I heard the news of what happened in the US a year ago I would have made it a point to find another job because of course the Morphe stores in UK would close too. Honestly surprised, they lasted as long as they did.
Because there are labor laws that require notice of at least 30 days there. There are certain exceptions where employers can pay more “redundancy” pay in place if notice, which I think morphe did the bare minimum of, but for the most part employers respect their employees enough to give them proper notice. Also, the UK has both really long notice periods and they are only legally required to pay employees once per month. Without giving the 30-day notice, that means a lot of employees can go 60+ days without a pay check. In this economy, maybe more of it takes longer to find a job. I’m an HR professional from the US but have had global roles at retailers and CPG companies. I know for certain that the decision to close those stores was made MONTHS in advance. They knowingly chose to f*ck over those employees and definitely had legal counsel review their decision to not give notice. It was not a rushed choice nor an oversight
Macy's did the same thing; closing multiple locations, with people coming in to find "store closing" sale signs everywhere. Employees that had worked for over 20 years had zero heads up.
That’s terrible to treat your workers that way. These big corporations are so greedy now. I guess they always have been but they are the reason that the prices are so high.
Jen Ive recently gone to target and they have a few hair care brands which range $15-$30! I was so shocked but even our old school Loreal or pantien runs over $10 each
@@toshabeansagreed, like the pricier brands where more smaller/indie brands or women of color owned. I have mixed kiddos and both different hair textures, I rather support small brand with amazing products so they can expand. ❤
Yeah, I don’t remember what my dove body wash cost before, but i know my old one was 40oz and the new size is 33oz and the price probably didn’t change
I like her. The side stuff with James Charles I don’t care about that much. I think she was correct about him and I don’t know why she took that back. We don’t know behind the scenes on that kind of thing so I digress on that. I didn’t get the chance to buy that pallet and I wanted it so bad lol. I hope she brings it back and I look forward to a new Tati makeup brand.
I agree. Dammed if you do, dammed if you don't. People are still mad at how he's still acting but he will continue to get away since no one is going to try and stop him as they don't want to end up going down like Tati. She tried after she couldn't get through to him behind the scenes. He will continue to cause damage and laugh as he skips down the street. It's ridiculous, IMO. Makes me angry. #mamabear
I am super excited for Tati beauty. I still have my pallet and I sometimes use some of the powdered shadows. It was just a freaking amazing palette, and I am exciting for whatever this woman puts out.
I love Tatis first palette, also the powder puff I still use daily. Who care about any beef in the past. Also good for her she is getting funding for her upcoming makeup. Good for her.
SHES BACCKKKKKK!!! I knew I loved your channel and you but being devoid of what's up in makeup and live chats for so long made me realize how much you're truly one of my favorite RU-vidrs 😂❤
I used to love Tati but after everything that happened and the passage of time, I am not interested at all in her relaunched beauty line. There are so many amazing brands out there today. I’ll pass.
Many people are interested. I never bought a single product from an influencer but I know that she will have success on a relaunch because seems the product was truly good.
I've always enjoyed tati's videos. I dont get into the drama crap so that doesn't affect me. Looking forward to her new product launch and wishing her much success.
I’m a little shocked you didn’t address the controversy around the Blake lively hair care line and the way they’ve chosen to market it…was looking forward to your opinions/thoughts.
Jen, I too was diagnosed with my first round of covid! . I thought it was just a bad case of allergies but low and behold I ended up with covid a couple of weeks ago. It's over now officially except for some lingering cough/allergy symptoms
i got covid for the first time on vacation during the recent spike as well! it’s been over a month and i still have a cough. i wish i had been more careful with masking
@@emiilyshe I wear a mask on public transport. Yesterday a guy told me I couldn't sit next to him because I was wearing a mask. Apparently I'm "weird".
Same! I do a conditioning mask in place of normal conditioner every time I wash my hair. I leave it on for at least 20 minutes under a shower cap while I do the rest of my shower, and it has worked wonderfully for my super dry hair. I live in the desert too, so even with doing a scalp oil treatment at least once a month I have never had any issues with buildup or anything. And it saves me time and money, which is always a plus.
I am afraid I turned on Tati, when she waited with her accusations against JC, until JC took an advertising deal with a competitor of her gummies. Apparently she was fine being besties with him, despite everything she knew, until it affected her bottom line. That was the end of it for me. I was hoping she would honestly stay off the internet, but obviously not.
Can we please talk about the current Raw Beauty Kristi controversy? I’m really curious to hear what the rational minds that follow Jen think about it all
I watch only Tati’s videos on youtube, I don’t have TikTok so I didn’t know about the sales… that’s a bit weird… on youtube she seems like same old Tati that I used to watch in high school 10 years ago 😅 So I was really happy to hear she’s out of court finally
I don’t have TikTok either, it is a dystopia hell so it makes sense she adjusts to that weird world. I think is a brilliant move for her to save money.
I purchased blake beauty. Really nice product. Packaging is nice looking but not functional in the shower. Difficult to put wooden lid back on with wet hands. Too bulky if you have minimal shower storage. Just my thoughts. Love your videos!
Do you realize how many brands are named after a person? 😂 and they sell their brands for millions or billions generally. Just depends if their brand/name is worth something when a company or conglomerate wants to buy the brand.
@@zahedah80 I wrote this comment yesterday but RU-vid deleted it. Most brands are based on someone’s name and they have no issues selling it if that name/brand is popular enough and evaluated as worth something. Estée Lauder for example, Patrick Ta and Patrick Starr also both have brands based of their names. makeup by Mario the list goes on 😂
Love Tati! ❤ I missed the eye shadow palette since I was on a budget and not buying huge makeup palettes since I don’t use them often, or at all. I’m more of a 4-16 color person. But now that she coming back, I’m not going to miss anything FOMO 😂
@@acm22 Yeah I found a couple Pley Beauty items at Ross which is crazy cause the brand is actually decent I still use her Pley Date stick which is a highlighter stick and her lipglosses
Welcome back! So happy to hear you’ve healed ❤ As far as Tati I’ve always liked her and trusted her. I still do. I was on The Tati List at the beginning but quit it because I didn’t like all the notifications and giveaways. 🤷♀️. It was constant. I follow her still but only watch occasionally because I’m not looking for more product and she can talk me into a palette in no time 😂 I love that Tati Beauty is coming back! I still use the OG palette. It sucks Halo went away for her, though, but people who liked it will still buy it I feel
I love Tati’s eyeshadow pallet. I still use it. It’s one of my few pallets. It’s so pretty and I love all the different formulas in one. It’s from everyday to crazy blinged up. I’d buy more from her if it’s that good.
I cant believe you just now had covid for the first time! Ive had it 2x. Got it from my kids both times. My oldest got it while things were still pretty locked down and she went skiing/tubing with 2 friends. She hadnt left the house for an entire month prior to that. Then i ended up with it and missed my father in laws funeral bc of it. Then i got it 1 full year later from my son. Glad you had a nice vacation and are feeling better again.
Neither my husband, son nor I have gotten it yet. Everyone we know has had it, all our family and friends, some multiple times. We flew overseas January 2022 for a death in the family, everyone was staying at my mother in law’s house and we didn’t find out my brother in laws family all had Covid until we had already hugged them and was in close contact for a day. We had to live together for two weeks and they refused to take measures to prevent others from getting sick as well. But somehow the 3 of us still avoided it despite other family catching it. And no, we didn’t have it and didn’t know it either. We did so many tests just in case whenever anyone had any symptoms.
I went on an Alaskan cruise in July and came home with my first covid infection!! I was so fatigued but my symptoms weren’t too rough. I am glad you are recovered! ❤
Morphe are horrible. The decent thing would have been to give your employees a weeks notice with a bonus as a thank you. That way people would respect the company and still buy.
What is Halo without Tati? I wish we’d get more but I’m happy Tati was able to keep the rights to her name and image. I could see her giving up a lot to keep that. I hope Tati Beauty returns!
I got Covid for the first time too! I get sick a lot due to my immune issues but this felt different, the body aches and spasms were terrible! I’m finally on the mend and I never wanna do that again 😅
I sorta accidentally came across you very recently.....became addicted to your content and subscribed! Wow! I thought 'what is it about this woman?', 'why am i falling down these content rabbit holes?' Now i know. IMO, you have such an air of credibility and professionalism. I've found I'm listening to you, not 'listening' for the part that is bullshit. For example, all the James Charles stuff....what a fabulous job you've done putting that together. I'm really, truly impressed, and you haven't tried to sell me anything or tell me pigs fly! With so many channels available, different content lengths, aimed at different generations....you're a find! Great stuff, so thank you. 😊
You know you're good at what you do when your absence is noticed! It's a been a LONG 3 weeks without seeing your beautiful face! So glad you had a wonderful vacation and are feeling better! Hugs!
Halo always seemed like a cash grab. the supplement industry Is notoriously unregulated. It also was a red flag to me. Her palette kicked ass ! I love it! Sadly she turned very anti-science during Covid and unfortunately has continued to go down that dangerous path of misinformation and anti science. Sad.
I'm seriously wondering about the state of UK emploment law in general if a company like Morphe is able to let go of people without prior notice. It's not that shocking for the States, but in Europe the employees are generally protected by laws to prevent this from happening, or they're given a predetermined amount of money, mostly 2-3 months' salary.
I went to a few different Target stores and found the Blake Brown hair care. I really like it. My hair has way less flyaways than normal and it’s very soft and shiny.
Thank you as always for all the work and time you put into these videos. You are so classy. ❤ I'd be so interested in seeing a Morphe deep dive! You are the QUEEN of getting the scoop!
Love Tati, love her TikTok sales lives too-good deals and it’s fun. Excited to see what she launches & hope the TikTok lives help make that possible. Wish them the best.
13:04 Oh, yuck. Jen Phelps mentioned she signed up for TikTok shop just to understand it better, and she mentioned that exact device Tati was pushing saying there are certain things TikTok gives you more commission on, because the companies pay them to push those products. That device was one that gave the highest commission, 30%.
