I totally agree with you. I think Buzzfeed did a video once where several people got their first ever tattoos and one of the tattoo artists was SO disinterested and a lot of people seemed to notice it. It was like he thought he was too good to be doing the video and I think that attitude can put a lot of people off going to someone a sharing their ideas for a tattoo with artists.
What he said at the end was really interesting. About how they spend hours working on this design, only to see it walk out the door. I never thought about it that way. It’s kinda sad! Sure they can take a picture but that’s not the same.
I had to have emergency surgery on my back and they had to cut right through my tattoo. The person who stitched me up did an AMAZING job! I have a straight red line right down the middle of my tattoo but my tattoo is completely intact. I wish I knew who it was so I could thank them!
when i hear stories like yours i can only imagine the surgeon taking their time and using your tattoo to help them in creating a perfect stitch. but then you hear stories of people’s tattoos being misaligned and i can only think the surgeon just didn’t care enough to try to make it straight. glad yours was amazing!
Zombie comment: While I was getting wrist surgery, my surgeon commented on my ink, and mentioned that it made it super easy for him to realign all the tissues when putting me back together.
@@theprofound4156 yeah true. If you're religious, get tattoos of it if you want, just make them look good. Thankfully his do look good, very renaissance-ish
I dont understand all these people saying you need to tip. if you're going to a good artist they will charge what they expect because they are professionals not waiters.
Also, it’s such an American question. Tipping just isn’t really done here- not for waiters, and not for tattoo artists. They charge what they expect you to pay, and that’s it. Edit: “here” is Australia, forgot to mention that.
@@katherinemorelle7115 here in Mexico it is expected to tip pretty much everyone; waiters, drivers, gas sellers, food stands, etc. But I have never in my life heard of someone tipping their tattoo artists, it'd be like tipping yout doctor? Or a teacher? It just feels like way too weird.
@@taniaisabel9207 yeah it seemed weird like tipping a medical professional to me too. plus, it's more of a case-by-case deal that you discuss beforehand and not usually a generic transaction off a menu
Same. I have 4 different text tattoos, done at 2 different shops, and for each one I had to sign a form stating that I looked it over and was satisfied with the spelling, etc. Also, definitely, definitely double-check before your artist starts, because for one of mine the artist misspelled a word on the stencil and I had to correct it.
This is actually surprisingly interesting, I never thought I'd be as hooked on a 12 minute video about tatoos as this. Clearly this man is a master of his craft ;)
His shirt definitely fits him. Seems like a dude who knows (and is comfortable) in himself. He has a calm/quiet sense of confidence and peace about him. I see why he is in demand.
I think it’s weird to not have art on the walls of a tattoo shop. When I get tattooed, I like to pick a spot on the wall to look at and just breathe. It’s a lot harder if there’s nothing to look at.
Not to mention he owns a tattoo studio that is well known for dainty, "won't-last-at-all" tattoos that are smaller than a bottle cap, with a $400 minimum. Also, Justin Biebers tattoos are bad not just because of subject matter, but quality as well.
I got laser hair remover and the lady went over my tattoo. A chunk of my tattoo LITERaLLY PEELED OFF LIKE A STICKER. I’m left with a half tattoo half scar thing
I love talented, trustworthy and knowledgeable tattoo artists. Its a beautiful relationship when you've found someone you can trust with putting art on your body for life
My mom had surgery on her shoulder and the doctors actually tried to sew her tattoo together nice enough for her. After a few years you can barely even tell and I’m sure that was a lot of added stress on the doctors part because they chose to do a cleaner job.
I fuckin love this guy! How honest and open he is about the profession and the decisions that need to be made by the artist/tattooer to create the piece of art the customer is asking for!? I have watched several videos that he has been apart of and have reconsidered my own choices for my next tattoo. A big thank you to the people who found this person to be a spokesman for the tattoo community and the real artists who are dedicated and set themselves apart.
the fact that i didn't realize it was still bang bang when they would switch to clips of him working on the tattoo is concerning.. like i seriously thought it was a completely different person until at the end when they showed the clip of him in the shop saying "i'm bang bang" lmaooo
Saw this video after getting my 2nd tattoo, and it makes me appreciate that my artist worked with me to change my design so that it would age better but still give me something I loved
When he talked about preparedness, it reminded me of a quote by someone - can't remember who - that went something like, "If I have five hours to chop down a tree, I'll spend four hours sharpening my saw."
i’d love for him to tattoo me just for the convos we’d have while i’m getting tatted. that’s sometimes the best part is talking with your artist. the pain doesn’t feel so bad if you’re distracted too😄
Got my tattoo artist a bottle of Jack Daniels after a tattoo once, he was over the moon with it and I actually got a free tattoo out of it as well... Never hurts to be nice and appreciative people
I dont have tattoos nor do i consider getting some now. But if Bang Bang came to me and asked me to have one, I would agree. Just because he knows what he is doing. Also the 2 videos of him answering questions. 150% worth my time. I loved every second of it.
people always come across as surprised as to how cool the professionals are in these series but don't realise that maybe that's why they got chosen for the videos.... because they are awesome people.
watching these types of videos are really good for me because i really wanna be a tattoo artist when i’m older but no one around me thinks tattoos are as interesting as i do so finding this type of this stuff is amazing
You can do it! Everyone is anxious about the first time. It will hurt no matter where you get it, but they understand and it’s not anything unbearable.
That person asking about how to find good tattoo artists....it's hard to believe that they're even a tattooed person because there are artists everywhere!!
Jesus man.....I've wanted a new tattoo for ages now. Already have 2, but it's been about 8 years since the last one. This video just makes me want a new one so SO badly.... It's crazy how addictive they can be. Just wish I could get this guy to do it lol....though I assume his waiting list _and_ rates are insane.....
As far as finding an artist I found this app TATTOODO and it shows local shops and artists with their portfolios. Found my artist in Chicago and I set up my apt for the 20th of July. Super excited!!
