I know what you are talking about when you really get into doing a piece of art. The whole world fades away and it's just me and the machine. It's very calming and good for the soul. Plus the feeling you get when you see the smile on the persons face when they first see the finished piece. Nothing like it it's like X-mas every time.
Glad to hear someone explaining the difference between the fake skin and the real thing. It's much denser and when i started in human skin i found it accepted ink much better and was in a sense easier for the artist to move faster causing less trauma to the skin. The fake skin almost seems violent and can be intimidating for newer artist or at the least a little confusing when switching over to live clients. Never heard an instructional artist explain it properly. Great videos and always recommend for newer artist to watch all of your instructionals!
Real time video is more beneficial than time lapse. With skipping I don't understand what's going on. I feel after learning basics, it's all about decisions. You have to know your limits and you have to decide accordingly. The tattoo artist I am working with teaches me a lesson very valuable to me: "if you don't mean it, don't do it". Seeing real time both the tattoo artist that teaches me how to tattoo and you (another tattoo artist) decide what to do next or how to approach one thing compare to another, teaches me more than I could want. Thank you very much sharing your experience and wisdom. I am really grateful for your videos. And must say you are a great teacher.
Loved the training and info. Thank you. It is helpful to see the full length of video (real time). Can’t wait to be able to determine what needles I need to be able to do a specific tattoo. Just starting….

I'd like to get your feedback on technique. I've tried packing black using my wrist, which didn't yield the best results...haha! I heard that packing black from your elbow helps, so I tried it on fake things first, of course, then on a tattoo my husband had me do in his thigh. I designed a lil creepy black-eyed girl peeking out through cracked skin. I had to pack her eyes black- aside from shiny parts and made sure to not move my wrist at all- which was hard to do...haha! I tell you what- it made such a HUGE difference! I made the circles- all motion coming from my elbow and that black is nice and saturated with one pass over every area! His skin never puffed up or got red and angry! We healed his tattoo using Tegaderm and Ink Eeze (Purple Glide- the non petroleum one) He didn't even get a scab or anything! I'm amazed! I did get a few tiny spots of blood, but nothing that's not normal. What are your thoughts on using the elbow instead of the wrist for packing black?
Hmm that’s a tough one. For me when I approach packing black I use the same hold and motions or similar motions as any other approach, if you will. What I like to do is hang my needles out just enough to where my tube never touches the skin and I work off the tips of my needles with nice steady and easy consistent motions. It’s rather hard to explain upfront, so what I can do is make a video on how I go about packing black, sharing my process. This way you can kind of take what you want and leave what you don’t. I’m also glad to hear the healing went smooth and well! I personally love to use Inkeeze products for the aftercare of the tattoo. I feel you played those cards nice. How did he like the tattoo?

I'm pretty confused,so much more to learn than I ever imagined. Also notice so many artists use rotary nowadays. I have never got on with rotary machines... I will keep learning. I'm a long way off from real skin. Also which is the best fake skin to use?
I feel different machines will suit different hands. If it feels right in your hand who is to tell you as the artist otherwise ? Is how I see it. In terms of the best fake skin this would be 110% subjective and to each their own. I feel the Yuelong skins I use have provided me with the best learning experience for needle depth, the reelskin to practice shading , and frankenskins for color packing and more, you get my drift. So what I am saying is I feel every fake skin will have something different to offer, and not 1 is better over another. Think of fake skins like human skin, we are going to get all types of skin felts over our time tattooing so I personally like to keep the same approach when practicing by using various types of skins I can get my hands on.
@@DanielYuck OK wow thanks I never thought of it like that. Excellent I will try a few different ones out and pig skin, even my dad's oranges! 😀 I really appreciate your time and your vids. Will watch some more later, very cool

Your good at this!! I get so messy with petroleum jelly all on my gloves. Mayb im putting too much. Your station stays dry and not that messy.. im wiping off all over the place lol!!??
Haha I used to get that way as well. I used to get dirty, and have ink on my face from touching my face when practicing! Lol thank goodness I practiced on fake skin as much as I did because now I know exactly why I don’t do. What type of fake skins are you using?
@@DanielYuck Im using the Uelong Silicone now. But i was really messy with the rubber ones at first lol.. But still kinda messy with silicone.. All though it's better silicone but im still messy bcuz i hold my machine like you, and I tend to drag my pinky on the platform when bracing. Mayb its too hot in my garage at times for the jelly.. but i see you wipe more often. Thanks for replying and your advise.. Im learning a lot from you!! What u think?
@@charlessims9160 ahhh heat will make the petroleum a bit more runny and a bit of maybe even a for lack of a better word “liquidish” if you will. Every time I pull a line I always wipe after with Vaseline so I keep my area near and clean. That’s just how I prefer my station upon tattooing. If we ride the tube it will become messy very quickly which is also why I like to hang my needle out a good ways. I am genuinely happy that I was able to help you in one way or another upon my journey. Should you ever have any questions at all don’t hesitate to reach out to me. Hey daniel, another question: how do you do your designs? On a computer? How can i create nice designs (mandala for example)? If i try to draw them, they aren’t even, or synchron.
I use vaseline when it comes to fake skin. Depending on the amount of ink I'll typically get a thin layer of vaseline and place it over the area that needs to be cleaned and wipe away lightly. It also depends on the fake skin being used.
Thank you for the feedback and support! I appreciate you. Should you have any questions at all don’t hesitate to let me know and I will do my best to assist you in the best possible direction🤝
Using the shader makes those lines super soft. Not bold. Your technique is good and the lines are smooth, but I think round liners would make a much bolder line.
Hi Daniel. Can you recommend a good tattoo machine without having to pay a fortune? I got a 80€ thing at home. Yes it works, i learned on it straight solid lines. But for shading it’s not good
That is a good question! To me I would call my approach just lining haha simply because these style of tattoos require mostly lining with shading and or dot work in subjective areas. I line with a shader because it provides me with bolder lines with a single pass versus bold lines by filling them in. I am not certain if there actually is a different term for lining with a shader but for me I would reference any lining approach as lining, wether we are using a round shader or round liner.
@@DanielYuck great... I can't wait to try it out tomorrow and all that I've learnt from you so far. I never thought I'd line with this type of needle. You make it look so easy! Learning so much from your vids even my dad is interested and watching he's 73. Really interesting he said.... thankyou! 😀
@@fluke808state4 haha wow that means a lot to me! I never would have thought my videos would be helping and reaching ears from people I never would have imagined. It is a great feeling and sense of accomplishment. One thing I’ve learned in tattooing is there are “rules” but they can be bent and broken to better suit what we are trying to achieve. Don’t be afraid to use your fake skins and try out new techniques and methods you can achieve with your needles.
That’s a good question! For me I used to feel that Vaseline was more for mechanical in which it still makes sense to me like for machines that require lubricant of some sort and applications to this extent, it’s always worked well and I’ve never had issues. I also feel Vaseline clogs pores which is something that’s not ideal for the healing process of any tattoo as we want to allow the tattoo to breathe. I personally like to use products from Inkeeze like Green Glide. They have a bunch of glide you can check out. I would highly recommend using Inkeeze glides over petroleum based products.
how you kept it so clean do you put vaselin before lining it so ...perfect without mess each time i do it made so much mess with ink my fake skin become grey you doing a great job good video
Hello master 😊 I want to consult you about something. when I copy the pattern I will work on onto the silicon, it is immediately deleted. How should I do this? can you help me? my english is a bit bad i hope you can understand me🙏🏼 greetings..
Great video. I just started a few weeks ago and I seem to have issues with the skin soaking in the ink and it's making it difficult to wipe off. Is there a reason? Is it the fake skin I'n using or over saturating and not wiping it off as rfrequesntly?
Hey Daniel, I've recently started tattling fake skin and the stencil doesn't stick on the silicon as yours do. How do you do it? Because I see yours does not come out when you wipe it. Does it have anything to do with the type of fake skin I'm using? Or maybe the stencil stuff?
Haha you’re welcome! Thank you for your feedback and support! I appreciate you. Should you have any questions at all don’t hesitate to let me know and I will do my best to assist you in the best possible direction🤝
hi ! this video was extremely informative for me thanku i was wondering the voltage - what voltage do you use and how do you choose what is good for that area? i have most trouble on this and it takes me a while to feel comfortable finding the right setting - i think i make the lines too weak in fear of scarring but by doing that i have to go over the lines again i know thats bad ! ah pls help , i get a little nervous bumping it up
Ahhhh this is actually a great question and point! So for me this was a process to develop into as well. I was always doubting myself , I doubted the needle configurations I chose, I doubted the way I put in lines but thankfully this doubt was happening over fake skin and not human skin. This question you ask I feel doesn’t have a one off answer but more so a series of steps that need to be taken and developed to be able to make these calculated choices. Where I would start is get say a 09 or 11 RL, start at say around 7.5 volts and pull some lines on fake skin. Do small comfortable lines and focus on getting nice, full saturated lines. Once you get comfortable with pulling lines , we now have more skills to try different needles, different voltage settings, etc. I would start here and just chip away at that block until you get to where you want to be, if this makes sense haha
i need tips, i have very shaky hands but i want to tattoo so bad but the nerves in my hand disagree. i am an artist and i have a machine and i tattooed my friend (yes ive practiced on fake skin before needling away at my friends skin lol) and it looked alright and they loved it but the main thing that got in the way no matter how much i practice is my shaky hand. could i literally have a nerve problem in my hands or is this fixable?
Also your grip appears super thick, why is that? Is it more comfortable than a thinner grip? Or is it to absorb vibration? Thanks if you do respond!! I'm just starting off
it does both, try wrapping some papertowel/ memoryfoam underneath your grip tape for extra vibration absorption it makes it a lot easier to hold the machine steady.
Find what is most comfortable for you. I don't like a big fat grip. I like one about 3/4 to 1inch. I have small hand. Try some different sizes and see what works best for you...
Thank you for the support and feedback! I appreciate you 🤝 Should you ever have any questions don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I will do my absolute best to assist you in the best possible direction.
I have a couple questions, I am a newbie sorry ;( 1. what’s the difference between a 18rl and a 1218rl? are they the same thing? 2. do you change your needles into the same gun while working on someone or do you just have multiple guns with the needles set up?
The first number you see on a needle configuration is the diameter of the individual needle themselves, meaning if it’s a bugpin or not. 18RL usually means standard diameter which is also a 1218RL. #12 diameter needles are .35mm In diameter a #10 diameter needle is .30mm diameter or a bugpin needle. There are needles smaller than #10s buts those are the 2 most commonly used diameters. I hope that makes sense and helps. Also, he has 2 machines set up because one is more powerful and can push bigger needle configurations easier but with rotary machines it’s super convenient because you can change the needle cartridges as needed throughout the tattoo on 1 machine if you wanted too. Just make sure you keep the cartridges clean with a cup of distilled water to help prevent them from clogging up throughout a big tattoo.
That’s actually a great question and 1 I recently made a review on. Round Liners Vs Round Shaders m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iDZs_a6en10.html Usually needles will have a listed code such as 12-18RL. In that video I linked you too I explain more on this which would be far more effective. The 2nd question is a good question as well! Upon setting up the design am doing would determine my setup. Typically I will use my cnc Q1, or Q2 or my CNC WE. I will pick 1 of those machines and use that for the session. This again would come down to the design. Say I will be doing a bigger piece I will typically always setup 2, 1 dedicated to lining and 1 dedicated to shading. I appreciate you reaching out, don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions at all.
@@emmy16661 So informative!! 🎯🎯 Thank you for responding when I wasn’t able to do so! I genuinely appreciate that, I also appreciate your accurate information and kind delivery. Thank you again 🤝
Thank you! I also don't like filling my tube's reservoir to the brim. I feel it creates a nasty base, and it's hard to allow the client to view the work as it's created. It seems to keep them at ease to follow along with the artwork process. Makes the entire experience easier.
You’re welcome! Thank you for your feedback and support. Yea I agree! I don’t really like those pools under my needles. It makes it super hard to really be fully confident upon tattooing. I don’t mind going back a bit more for ink fills if it means to have a cleaner smoother process. It comes down to being a bit more patient for me. If I slow things down I can be at ease the entire process which may help me make better choices along my way.

Great Question! Just about anytime I apply ink into a practice skin I am always using simple vaseline to remove the excess ink that remains. It is the type of practice that is used that will determine how the ink cleans up. A silicone felt practice skin will clean much nicer over say a rubber felt practice skin.
After graduating to real human skin, I cringe when I practice in fake things now...haha! Every time I pull a line, I know that if I were to do it the same way in real skin, I'd be really hurting someone. Such a difference! Even the sound of the fake skin sweet spot makes my teeth clench...haha! I know I've thanked you lots over several videos, but man! That’s not a dumb question! Thank you for reaching out and asking. I am using an assortment of both round liners and round shaders to achieve my desired effects. Round shaders I use for bold lines and round liners I use for more fine lines, dense lining and details.
@@ricefrappuccino7875 haha you’re welcome! I can fully understand, prior to me tattooing I always wondered how they got the bold lines. Hi Daniel. Thanks so much for your videos, I am learning a lot. I am also practicing on fake skin so I have a question. I am reusing my needles every time I practice, rinse it, clean it ( just because it is fake skin only) but some of the ink always stays in, so every time my needle touches the skin it releases a drop of ink, is this because of reusing the needles? or maybe because my settings are too high (usually running the machine at 9 volts for lining) ?. Btw, also watching you from Japan. Cheers
First and foremost thank you so much for your support and feedback I appreciate you! 🤝 This is a great question I feel others may have wanted to ask. So depending on how you’re storing your needles in between when you’re not using them. So if you’re storing them in a liquid when not in use, there maybe excess amounts of ink which can come pooling out. Or if the needles are stored in a dry manor there maybe dried ink inside not allowing the smooth flow of ink, there can even be some build up inside the middle of the configuration that can potentially cause issues. It’s hard to say at the moment. How do you store the needles when not in use? I personally don’t see anything wrong with this approach of reusing a needle on a practice skin but there is also somethings we should be mindful of. 1 major thing I would pay attention to is the needle sharpness. When the needles are used they get more dull which can cause adverse effects upon tattooing. The lines will look more rough, the needles won’t penetrate and perform as they should. This is a major key I would just be mindful of.

Nice to see your approach to lining, I have a very similar mindset when tattooing, it was interesting to see the limitation of the Q2 compared to the q3, I use coils for my tattooing and run 2 machines one for needles up to 9rl and another with thicker springs for thicker needles

@@lukedorrington7455 ahhh dang what made you question your autoclave? For me I’ll do a ultrasonic chemical bath using cavacide or something to this extent. I am never worried about sterilizing when using chemicals.
@@lukedorrington7455 hahaha yea I know what you mean. There is always that lingering “but what if” lol I think as we go over time and get more confident with the process this goes away I feel, unless the worrier in is completely takes over haha
I am just starting out and don't want to break the bank. So in your opinion, what size needle cartridges should I buy to get started practicing on fake skin? What ab out brands? Also do you recommend one brand/ thickness practice skin over another?
You should definitely spend money 💰 on your tattoo supplies. It’s worth it. I just spend $900 at a tattoo convention on supplies. You’ll get that back. If you do good quality work
Well it really depends on what you want to practice. I started learning with thicker liners like a 14 Round shader cuz they're way fatter and needles that are bigger help hide any kind of shake in your hand so you can get smooth crisp lines. Super small needles are much harder. Like using only a 3rl or a 5rl and even a 7rl cuz be tough if ur not already experienced with the movement of a tattoo machine. You'll notice that ur lines will be way more wobbly looking. I'd reccomend anywhere from a 7rl to to like 13 rl or shader. Most brands of needles are pretty good. Just make sure you look at reviews and ratings to make sure the brand is reliable.
I just got started with a $99 Dragonhawk kit with plans to invest in better equipment down the road. It came with 1203RL and 1205RS which has been fine for me! Although ultimately it depends on your style. I think just starting with one liner and one shader to practice is nice because it’s not overwhelming, and through your practice you’ll realize what kind of needles would benefit your work most. Also, an experienced tattoo artist advised me that fake skin isn’t actually that helpful, so instead I just began by practicing on oranges, which also got me accustomed to working on a 3-dimensional surface. It’s also cheaper. Pig skin is also a good option since it’s actual skin.
These are very good questions!! It’s hard to give a direct easy to consume answer because there is no 1 answer to the questions at hand. This will be fully subjective and range from person to person, I feel. Why I say that is because 1 artist may do entire tattoos with just a 3RL because of the style they do, another artist may need multiple needle configurations because of the style they do and so on. Brands would also be something that is 110% subjective and to each their own. For me personally now I use Police Needles almost exclusively until I use up the needles I currently have. I personally love these needles and for reasons in which I state in this video I made on them. You can learn more about the police needles in my review here m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HdkB_bPRv4k.html For brands of skin there are many many types of skins in the market and all of them will teach you something different. I wouldn’t recommend looking at fake skin like which one is better but more so getting different ones from different companies and using them all to learn and grow. No human skin will ever be alike so I feel this would be one of the best approaches to take. What style of tattoos will you be doing ? I maybe able to tell you how I would go about approaching it and why I would approach it that way
@@distinctiveartflow4197 I agree bro! Investing into ourselves is the only way to go. There is no way around it. I feel we should all do our own research and look into our budgets and what we want out of our gear and kind of let that guide our choices.
I would love to know how to get the stencil even after wiping the ink ??? its like ill let the stencil dry and itll be stuck on the fake skin or tattoo on it too soon and wipe now the stencil is gone now i have to go almost freestyle
That’s a great question! So how I look at this is the ink should always live inside of the dermis, that is where we will input the pigment into. Now what does vary is the dermis and the layers on top of the dermis and below the dermis. This is the part that will vary, everyone has a dermis but 1 person may have a bit more top skin over another. The needle tip should be adjusted as each and every dermis is felt and you find your groove. For me I always begin off of the tip of my needle, work my way and get more comfortable. After about 5-15 mins I’ll be pulling single pass lines the rest of the way. Of course this is in a nutshell as we’d have to consider many variables upon tattooing. I’ve heard numerous artist say they spend the first 10-20 mins getting used to that persons skin and now I understand what that means.
I want to thank you for all the helpful tips and tutorials to tattooing that I really need to improve my art. I'm looking into taking your course but I am a terminal cancer patient and I can't know if I won't be able to make it through the course and Tattoo after. The videos on you Tube well as not as advanced as the course you have, they still help a heck of a lot. I am doing a Doberman facing another Doberman on Fake skin now it's just the heads above the collars with spikes I got off a flash sheet. I am going to attempt to do it in Black and grey and I got a premixed set of grey wash and different tones of black from very soft to heavy black I will most likely have to use some Holy water from Quantum to thin some of the darker ink but I'm really having a blast on the REAl SKIN brand fake skin I see you are using a different brand I didn't catch the name of but it looks like it might be even better. Just wanted to thank you again for helping us who just don't have the expendable cash to make payments on your awesome course. I bought the best equipment I could afford and got what I read was rated highly by pro's and all the the top of the line cartridges and Inks. I like Paul Booth and he uses Quantum INK so I went with his recommendation and got a starter kit of 12 bottles of assorted color INK. I gota Bishop machine and a Mast machine for practice and an Inkjecta Nano for when I go onto Human skin if I last that long and can still do them . I'm really starting to see results that to me look nice. I have a lot of work to do but you are so easy to understand and the videos are great I feel like I'm on my way.
I went ahead and linked you to my PDF document in your previous comment but I will go ahead and link it here for you again. Don't hesitate to reach out should you have any questions. www.mediafire.com/file/uly3foepglaohsc/Daniel_Yuck_Gear_List_1.6.pdf
That’s a great question! For practicing on fake skin I will always use Scott Shop Towels/Wipes. They are a blue color and very absorbent. I also apply small layers of Vaseline after I pull a line to easily clean the excess ink off. Should you have any questions at all please feel free to reach out to me and I will do my best to assist you in the best possible direction 🤝
These are some great informative videos. Comfort is definitely key! As a right handed person I think one should sit to the left of the tattoo when ever possible and always work from the bottom up. Reasoning? Accidently erasing your stencil can be a catastrophic nightmare.
Haha I can see why some may see it that way. Me personally this is where it’s at for me, this style that consists of dense lining and different needle configurations, the fact that I have to hyper focus, all of these variables I love. I am certain not everyone is going to feel that way.

Yeah it's that symmetry that Freaks me out. One mistake and it's ruined
Yesss! Daniel Yuck does so great but I’d have a panic attack with a mandala, atleast right now! Haha. Maybe in a year I’ll feel so much better about it though.
Very nice! How do you get the stencil to stay through the wipes😭😂 I use the stencil cream and let it dry for a friggin while and soon as a little a and d hits and gets wiped it’s gone
Haha I hated when this would happen to me. I would start the tattoo soon after the stencil was placed and lost everything. I started to learn that if I left the stencil on to air dry for 24 in advance the dark part of the stencil would come off but the light layer would stay behind. On some skins it’s next to impossible to remove the dark stencil after it’s placed which is leaving it to dry for too long. Haha so we have to find that balance with it all. It took me a goood while to catch onto not loosing my stencil. It’s definitely process to learn but don’t get discouraged. Keep pushing and do what you can for today. Should you ever have any questions along your way don’t hesitate to reach out to me and I will do my best to assist you in the best possible direction 🤝
i love your content but if you did this on real skin you would shred them to pieces! silicone rubber is not good for any practice! tat yourself or a a pigs ear,,,,,,,,ive been a pro artist for 38 years with many awards and have 6 shops
I am an old man and i am new at tattooing but plenty of experience in graphic arts. I am interested in getting as good as possible on fake skin as an art form ( and might do the occasional real tattoo . Your vids are a great learning tool for my goal. Does anyone sell large patches of silicone based fake skin ? Had me going with keeping the skin clean but i get it now. Clean often seems to be the ticket... no more goo gone or wd40 ....lol
Shit honestly I wouldn't get a tattoo from someone trying to rush it or willing to rush it, cause for 1 they don't care about what you're getting on your body and 2 they're most likely not going to do it correctly and either they will go to deep and blow out my skin or not go the right depth and I end up with a faded ass tattoo or lines disappearing after a while. I just started tattooing and I've already had hella people ask if I would do one for them and I told them no because I just started and I'm not going to fuck anyone up because I'm not fully able to do what I want or what your tattoo needs and I'm not trying to ruin a relationship because I fucked up on your tattoo because I tried to rush the process and I wasn't capable of doing what you wanted and you let me do it anyway. I'd rather you be mad because I didn't do it rather than you hate me because I fucked up your skin.
Dan I have just starting out and have learned more from your style of teaching than from anybody else thank you so much and of coarse I've subscribed for any and all further instruction James.
Thank you for tuning in first and foremost. I actually made a full video on how I apply stencils to practice fake skin and that video is right here m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ahaMqzQc3k8.html Don’t hesitate to let me know if you ever have any questions at all. Haha this very statement crosses my mind often. It’s hard to narrow it down as I feel each needle contributes to the overall quality, readability, and look of the tattoo. If I had to absolutely narrow it down I would use 03RL, 05RL, 09RL, 11RL, & 09RS and 14RS. Haha that’s for this specific type of tattoo. The needles I choose will vary from tattoo to tattoo and it’s really all based on the design at hand.
That’s a good 1! Honestly from the Q1, Q2, and Q3 its hard for me to pick just 1 because they are all great machines. I don’t like 1 more over the other but for certain instances I’ll reach for a different Q series machine. What I will say is that the Q2 and Q3 are a powerful duo.
@@DanielYuck Ya.. I did a Tatt on my leg and with the 9rl reihn needle with my Q2, i didn't even feel it, it felt real smooth and soft.. But i was also drunk lol!!🤔
For the fake skin should the needle be going all the way through and hitting the table? It sounds like it is and I dont believe the material is 2 mm thick
Just watching on the way you hold the gun is very helpfull i will be trying to put my finger on the tip to help with depth keep up the videos brother very helpfull content 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Thank you so much for your time and support. It means a lot to me. It took me a bit to figure out how I was most comfortable holding my machine and after a while this is kind of where I worked up too. This is what’s most comfortable for me personally. I am glad I was able to help you in a better direction. I also Made a video on how I hold my machine up close I will link you to that video here Holding A Tattoo Machine ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-adLxECurGgs.html Should you have any questions at all don’t hesitate to reach out to me and I will do my best to assist you in the best possible direction 🤝

Sick vid dude! The one and only problem I have that really bugs me with tattooing is the carbon coming off 😡😡 something that really does me. One little wipe and poof - gone😭 massively frustrating
You might appreciate Pirate face stencil paper, and a stencil medium. I appreciate Stencil Stuff, it's affordable and helps the stencil stay almost perfect. I've heard Stencil goo works good, I've just never used it directly.
I remember when this used to happen to me I used to tell myself “this isn’t even worth it” haha. After a while I started to catch onto a flow that worked for me. I have a couple of questions if I may. What type of skins are you using? How long do you let the stencil dry for?
@@kerstoncampbell2535 ahh that’s very insightful information! I have never personally used that brand of paper or the stencil goo but it’s something I will look into. I appreciate your response and time. Thank you 🙏
I appreciate you reaching out thank you! How long are you allowing the stencil to dry for? When I do a tattoo on fake skin, I allow the stencil to sit for about 12-24 hours. When I use reelskin fake skin I will allow it to sit for about 6 - 8 hours and I am good to tattoo.
Thank you for sharing this enlightening video on line works. I have a question , every time I run a line it’s never solid enough, I have to run the same line a few more times before the ink shows on the skin. Am I doing something wrong? Is it me, or my ink or my machine? Please advise

Thank you for this video I been shooting 20+ years at home and around the country for a while. I'm still learning everyday. This is a art you never stop learning
I was a tattoo artist back in the 70's and we didn't have almost any of the same precautions they have today and I'm really glad that tattooing has come out into the daylight and is done safe and clean and good. Not like the old way of slapping an acetate stencil on and doing a tattoo in 5 min. I am SO lucky that I never got many tattoo's back then, I didn't start getting heavily tattooed until the 2000's when the shops started cleaning up their act. I'm happy now to be coming back into the tattoo community to do great work that's safe. Your videos have taught me a lot of what I wasn't taught right back then, it's a whole different world now. I'm really grateful for the help you have given me to relearn how to tattoo the right way. I haven't done any yet on anyone, I have all of my equipment ready to go but I am doing a self-apprenticeship for a few months so I can do them again with confidence I would NEVER want to give a bad tattoo. Back in the day it was all fly by the seat of your pants and they even re used needles back then. I'm proud to be able to go back into this knowing i am doing it the right way and not rushing things.
What’s up Daniel , question , so I did a tattoo on myself the other day and my line work looks good and saturated, but when I go to wipe it down with green soap most the ink looks like it disappeared and my lines look like a scratch and very low amount of ink in the skin. But the next day the lines look darker than the day I tattoo it ??? Any suggestions, I’m using 9RL at like 8V. Not to fast and not to slow and using inkjecta x1
You have to let the stencil sit, I usually let the stencil sit overnight with a book on it so it will stain the practice skin. If you place the stencil and start working once you’ve taken it off the stencil will wipe away with the first wipe. Prep your practice skins and let them sit, the longer they sit the more stencil will stay.
@@hoanglo9560 no worries! I hope it will help you! I had the same issues when I first started and just tried a few different things and that way seemed the best. It will stain the practice skin and if you don’t cover the stencil it will show through, but it is practice and that shouldn’t be a deal breaker. Good luck! 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
