A montage to one of the most famous international badminton players and the most talented player to ever play the sport... a man notorious for his sensational netplay, backhand, nerves of steel, deception and general love for the game.
Ever since his win at the 2004 Olympics, he has revolutionized the game and the players that are responsible for having taken the game to the next level, where the tactical and complex game that is seen in today's badminton stemmed from this man's racket. Still competing into his very late 20's and competing at the very top, here are some displays of skill from the Indonesian ace Taufik Hidayat...

What else can I say? He is just so much fun to watch!!! The variety of shots, fluid footwork, sharp tactics, and mental control are hard to matched by any other players. Unlike Chinese players who play like robots, he makes badminton beautiful :)

i don't know why you people always compare LD, LCW and Taufik, sometimes Peter Gade too....every player has their special skill, their better abilities than each other, and of course their weakness..every player has their best era...if you search about taufik biography, he got his first title at 18 years old...i don't remember what it is, but if see nowadays, i can't see any player can do this in MS. In my opinion too...among of the best player in 2000 era - the 4 king (Lin Dan, Lee C. W., Peter Gade, Taufik), Taufik is more complete and unique...he will be remembered as Mr. Back hand smash, who never win All-england i think. 305 km/h fore hand smash in a game, alson something really special from him... respect

There is no one badminton player like Taufik's backhand has although he is not as good as he was a few years ago because of his age. Taufik is the best acrobatic badminton player in the world!! One and only

I don't care Whatever you all said !!!! World knows Taufik Hidayat is the Simply Best of Badminton... he is the One Badminton Player who mixed the SPORT AND ART ! And the most special inspirative words from him is.. When he said : "saat kita kalah Tersenyumlah,dan bangkit kembali !, selama kita masih bisa tersenyum kita belum kalah" "when we lose the match,just smile and get up!, as long as we are still able to smile, we have not lost"

Like the way Taufik plays. His style of play is very different from other top players. I think it is hard for Indonesia to find a replacement for Taufik as he is a complete player during his prime. We hardly find top players relying on their backhand skills like Taufik does which is just extraordinary. I mean how often do we see a backhand smash from Lin Dan or Chong Wei? But however, there is also a negative side to over-rely on the backhand. No matter how good is the backhand, it will never compensate for a strong forehand or smash return. Also, Taufik lacks speed, stamina and determination. But overall, he is indeed a complete package and is one of my favourites.

WOW...guys some of these comments are a bit hectic...lets jus watch this video and appreciate a really good player who yes at times has beaten lin dan and lee chong wei and other times lost...but its jus a video guys...his been in the top 10 for the past 10 years i think it is an achievement...:D were all brothers of badminton...cheers

Ok. Lin Dan have so many medal and achievment. But Taufik have Skill. Taufik show us the art of badminton when he playing. And yes, the backhand smash 😂 only him can do that. Lin Dan Vs Lee Chong Wei (ex), When playing badminton Both of them are bored to see :p

I agree that he is a great player, but stating that he was the single greatest player to walk the earth in his prime is just not true. Personally, I love to watch him play since he has a beautiful style and great technique, but LD and LCW are just on another level concerning speed and agility around the court, and he could never have matched that. I think he would've had a good fighting chance in a prime-vs-prime matchup, but lost the majority as he was never a very physical player.

Had, and he achieved that great smash through his flawless technique, not brute force. Of course he was very very fit, he was a professional athlete after all, but in comparison to players like Lin Dan or Lee Hyun Il he was just not special in that regard. They were both faster and had more stamina. Btw, LHI smashed harder than that in the 2006 World Championships iirc. 308 I think. LD also cracked the 300 in that tournament, I think - and he was the most explosive player in 2005-2010.

yes,LD has won everythng. yes,our badminton nowadays is nothing 2 compare with china. but dude, the only major title that taufik hasn't claim was all england. so at least i can say he barely won everything. i think he deserve some respect for his achievements. people fell in love with taufik cuz his unique style, if u hate him so much why u still watch this video? >_< bottomline LD&LCW is better now but taufik has beat them when he still in his prime. that's the meaning of my previous comment

dude, can u read what i wrote? i say "when he still in his prime".. n yes i admit that nowadays LD & LCW beats him in almost every chance. but your argument makes no sense cuz in athens 2004 & world championship 2005 (taufik still in his prime) both LD & LCW never beats taufik. in fact his head to head with LD was 3-12. all of his victories happens when taufik still in his prime. dude, i respect both LD & LCW cuz they're the best in their era, but when taufik still in his prime, they're nothing.

Lin Dan is better than him. Period. Lin Dan won everything. What has he got? No All England, No Sudirman Cup, No World Cup, No World Super Series titles and so many more. Lin Dan : 50 titles Taufik ? 25 titles with no All England, China, Denmark, Japan, Korea titles ? Not even close. Keep dreaming fools.
