I can’t believe they don’t mention the significance of Galadriel giving Gimli 3 strands of her hair... It goes back to the Second Age, when Feanor, an Elder Elf King asked Galadriel for a lock of her hair because it was said that her hair was so beautiful it contained the light of the two trees. Galadriel sensed a darkness and pride in his request so she denied him. He asked her two more times and each time she denied him. He went on to make the 3 silmaril stones-inspired by her hair. So she denied a Elf King 3 times but gave 3 hairs to a dwarf. Because she knew his heart was pure.
Did u notice that Legolas dad in battle of five armies before he cut her bow and arrow he said that her love for killi was not real but when she asked him why it hurt so much when killi died he said it was because it was real
@@pammelton8107 this was so heartbreaking to watch. At least Thranduil shows compassion at the end and cares about her telling her the truth and appreciating that beautifull love. what a love story !
"I asked for one strand of hair from her golden head. She gave me three." Legolas' smile is perfect because he knows what that her gift meant, because she had refused Faenor thrice.
@@kittycay2145 in super short..feanor or whatever his name ask lady galadriel For hair to fuse with weapon or something..idk..i watch about it in youtube last year but really interesting.
I love Tauriel and Kili. It was a doomed sweet and pure little thing, people act like it’s this horrible awful blasphemous campfest like they rode off into the sunset married with triplets. This coupling is based on compassion and innocence and kindred spirits. What else could a doomed young man ask for? He got to experience these feelings before he died and I think that’s awesome and her last scene with him was so emotional. People can hate her and the romance all they want, it doesn’t bother me because it’s a done deal, their hatred doesn’t take away what’s already on film and I’ll always have it.
The only reason I disliked it so much was because I wanted tauriel to love Legolas. The way they added to his story makes his life so sad after everything he has done for the world and an awesome character he was. He ends up alone and when himli dies even more so.
I enjoyed her character. I know people whined but that scene with Kili talking to her about she dances in starlight and the music during that scene brings a tear to my eye. Every epic film needs love somewhere in it.
I liked the Romance because I was So put off by all the death in LOR I did not want to see Hobbit. One of my friends sW it first and then talked-about how they liked it and I saw it then
That was a beautiful throwback memory of Tolkien and his wife he put into his book. Though that was a much earlier tale he wrote about Beren and Luthien.
"Do you think she could have loved me?" That line in the movie melted my heart. I say it often in my daily life, completely out of place and context, lol.
She's so beautiful it hurts... sorry, but I could definitely see a young sheltered dwarf falling hopelessly in love with her. She's an amazing warrior with a kind heart and Kili is on a perilous journey facing death for the first time and has no idea what awaits him. The chemistry was immediate because they were the right two young open-minded people at the right place and time. I don't care what some people say, I adore these two.
I love that they added Tauriel. There aren't many female characters in Tolkien's tales, but the ones we have are all distinct from each other and powerful in very different ways, and Tauriel just adds to that variety without taking anything away, showing that there are so many ways to be a woman just like there are so many ways to be a man. Controversy aside, I personally think she fits into this universe very very well.
She was a good concept but had a lacklustre execution, if they had excluded the love story and perhaps had she died at the end (explaining her absence in LOTR) than it could have worked
to bad they ruined her entire personality and authenticity by having her randomly fall in love with a dwarf and ignore her own kin (Legolas) for no reason other than the globo-homo agenda
Oh look, another fan that thinks modern writers can somehow improve Tolkien’s legend with feminism. She’s a made-up, shoehorned diversity female that has been completely removed from all fan edits of the trilogy bc it’s god awful.
These drawings are unreal...you would think they would draw that stuff on their tablets or computers but these drawings with pencil are like listening to music on vinyl instead of spotify. There is just such warmth in them. Incredible.
To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? He that has ears to hear, let him hear. Are you saved? Where will you go when you die? Heaven or hell? The Gospel, which means the Good News is the news that God Almighty, the Creator came in the flesh as Jesus Christ to take away the sin of the world. The one God is a trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Son came and laid down his own life to save ours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for our redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him. Although God's creation was created perfect, having no death, sickness and disease, the creation became corrupted through Adam and Eve in them disobeying God. In this rebellion the creation became fallen through the curse of sin and mankind became separated from God. This world is fallen, but God offers reconciliation to him through his provision at the cross. Ultimately God will restore his creation to perfection when he returns but those that who reject his offer of redemption will remain condemned by their sins and go to hell. John 1:1,14 KJV In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD. [14] And THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH, and dwelt among us, 1 John 3:8 KJV He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Isaiah 9:6 KJV For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty GOD, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and THE WORLD KNEW HIM NOT.
People who work on the decoration (like drawings, costumes, makeup, wigs) srsly deserve so much credit because it is truly amazing everything that they do and i wish movies would still use real makeup instead of all made by cgi. They made a great job and elf hair is awesome
I just ... cannot reconcile how buff and angry Legolas looks in the Hobbit ... I cant expect him to look as he was or as gentle as he was in LoTR ... but I simply cannot reconcile 😿
evangeline had really good instinct about the kissing part. i don't think it it would have had the same effect and wouldn't have been in the right time if kili and tauriel kissed so early, compared to what was included in the film
When I heard for the first time that there was going to be this female elf named Tauriel that would fall in love with a dwarf...I was not happy. The whole love triangle thing? Even worse. As an avid Tolkien fan, I didn't get why it was necessary. After watching the movie, I still didn't like it and did not understand why they felt the need to add a character so prominently that did not exist in the books. But after watching these videos, I understand their choice and can find peace with it. These appendices add a lot of depth and meaning to the movies and are invaluable. I grew to love her actually, I think Evangeline did a great job.
+Arianna Deligianni Yeah, the romance really feels rushed and forced. A friendship between her and the dwarf would have been more feasible but a budding romance? In such a short span of time between these two different races? I didn't buy it either.
+Arianna Deligianni Dear Arianna, i never been a fan of Hobbit but unexpectedly, when i was ill, i started to watch Hobbitt. I did not know why, but i had a strange feeling about Tauriel, that she is not elf - not elvish enough. When i saw this video and found out, she was added character, i understood my feeling from that character.
+Eric Raymond Baluyut I completely agree! And I was in the same place as Arianna before until watching these very videos, even though I felt a love for her regardless. But just love her even more now. not to mention the Avangeline is just so charismatic and sweet. But yeah, the romance was rushed. I mean, she was seemingly cold in the beginning and like the video states, she is very curious to the outside of her forest's boarders. Would have loved to see a more slow process.. But I guess the way Kili behaved caught her eye and began to fall for him rather quickly, I mean romance can be a rather instantaneous thing. And if one doesn't criticize to harshly on things, it becomes rather understandable, but I guess could have been conveyed a little better for the audience instead of it being some kind of blockbuster hit. I've always thought certain decisions were made because certain companies that were funding the movie wanted the movie to have some sort of hollywood feel, where you have the same sort of cliche things over and over. y'know? Such as that sand worm when really the goblins could have came out from some ancient pathway like they would have normally done like with Moria.. >>'' I mean.. they could have just reproduced things with the same wonder as from the Trilogy. Worked so well since they kept close to the book, but of course the wonderful work done by the fantastic staff and actors really puts it all together though. I love the films and Tolkien to bits regardless of all the things people say about Tolkien and or about the Hobbit films. ( On a previous note.. Earlier on I couldn't help but get some 7 dwarfs feel to it and it was a bit "disney" Of which are also wonderful but not when it's in a more serious movie even though the hobbit was originally for children, but what it's living up to be is actually quite serious. I've always thought of the hobbit films being a more serious and realistic version of the book since it's set in the very same world as the other films/books. Sort of like how the shire had almost literally no idea and or care for the outside world but out there was a pretty dark and wonderfully deep and vast place.
+Arianna Deligianni I think having Tauriel as like an adopted sister for Legolas would have been better. Then, she falls in love with Kili. Then it creates a scene of not a love triangle, but just an "older brother" looking out for his younger sis and Thranduil telling her to stay away and not fall in love with a Dwarf would also make sense... Then Kili and Tauriel gets killed by Bolg, thus creating a reason for Legolas to fight Bolg and kill him in the Battle of the Five Armies. It also creates a reason why he doesn't like a Dwarf (he thinks Kili got his sis killed by seducing her or whatnot) and also why he would join the fellowship....
+Arianna Deligiannino excuse. I will never forgive peter for putting this drivel in the movies.simply awful. pandering to political correctness and Hollywood. hate it hate it hate it.I am a avid Tolkien fan- this is pathetic.btw. she is very beautiful and charming, did not seduce me/
8:40 so cute haha! I loved Tauriels story and the relationship between her and Kili, I wish they had kissed properly! Its good Evangeline feels like she earned her place in the Hobbit universe, she did a brilliant job despite what some think and she was a kick ass strong character which was very much needed!
I love Tauriel, I'm honestly not bothered by how she wasn't it the book, they embroidered her into the movies so nicely and she's such a badass female character! Thanks for making this video also, it's really interesting :D
Its just that her only reason for existing is to have a female fighting character, so feminazi wouldn't go crazy with hate. Tolkien would have hated her.
JRR Tolkien such a genius author... he create middle earth, with all the creatures and even their languages ... and sometime we even forget that it's fiction ....we think of it as history 😊
+Liz Loch Or just have her character be killed as well. That would close her character ark, and even add to the tragedy for their romance and even for Legolas. Maybe this is just my opinion.
I love every character in the books since I read them for the first time twenty years ago. As a LOTR fan, I think Tauriel is a great character, worthy of the story. 👍
Of all the changes made to the hobbit and lord of the rings, Tauriel is probably the one I enjoyed the most. Unnecessary but brilliant all the same, adding that touch of human emotion.
I've been a hobbit fan since I was old enough to read. Everything about it is great and I thoroughly enjoyed the movies as well. And Tauriel was a nice addition to the story that had no real impact on the overall plot but introduced a strong female character in a movie that was basically a giant sausage fest. So anyone care to explain why they hate her so much?
my Life is over, all the fun years have just been eclipsed..... alienated, I wasted years of my time trying to what actually?!? Thinking it'll go better soon, well guess what, it did not, next time just pack your stuff go to erlien go to PAris go to London go to Zurich or wherever and start over build a new SocialGroup and be happy somewhere else, and I really still want to go - I will at some point
Some 45+ years ago I was a child and the movie, "Excalibur" came out. I watched it so many time in the theater (and later on VHS) that I could (and still can) recite the "Charm of Making" spoken by Merlin in the movie, something he did twice and Morgana said a number of additional times. It is not surprising that an actor, especially a good one (like Evangeline) has permanently memorized a number of her lines. I love the actors they got for all of these movies and series. They nailed the casting again and again, and continue to do so.
@@towelgirl21 Yes, I believe I had my first org___m watching it for the first time. I would buy a ticket for a PG movie, then sneak in. I'm a great grandmother now, but I still find that scene hot. 🙂
Disappointing that none of those actors said a thing about the significance of Galadriel giving Gimli three of her golden hairs, contrasted with what happened with Feanor and the Silmarils.
Well Tauriel the shot is beautiful the snot you mentioned is funny looking at it afterwards. Thanks for sharing Tauriel is still one of my favorite elf! Evangeline Lilly is amazing!
When Evangeline talks about having "knife envy" of Legolas's knives, today that actually got me wondering something storyline-wise. Am I the only one thinking that Tauriel is using a pair of knives that are sort of standard-issue equipment for Hunter Elves of Mirkwood, while Legolas is using a pair of knives that were custom-made for him (considering he's the Prince of Mirkwood, why wouldn't he have equipment and weapons that were custom-made to his specifications)?
Him his brother and Oakenshield all gone along with so many others. All that talent and strength in Coffins way too young! Like so many over the centuries during battles. Really not fiction at all.
Hey there! People placed so much hardowrk and talent in this movie. So appreciate it 😊 Im also an avid reader of Tolkien's and i guess there's nothing wrong with Tauriel.
Now I realized: when talking about the languages, they used Arwen's spell to showcase Quenya, when in fact she is speaking Sindarin. An example of Quenya was Saruman trying to bring the Pass of Caradhras down
It funny and really interesting seeing how hard it was for the actors to learn, pronounce and speak in elvish. That one thing that really captured my interest both in the LOTR and The Hobbit movies.
Fans often create "ships" (romantic relationships) between characters in existing works of fiction, many who have not even the slightest romantic interest or possibility of having one between each other, yet if a fan fancies them together, they will "ship" them in fanart or fanfiction because they can. The way I see it, if any fan of Tolkien fan deserves to create their own love story outside of canon, it's Peter Jackson. He has given many joy with his films and introduced us to a saga we may have never been interested in had we not seem the movies (me for example). The love story between an elf and a dwarf has meaning and is a nod to Tolkien, not an insult. Is it melodramatic and not entirely to pull in more fans? Perhaps. But in a world where orcs and dragons and evil rings exist, why is it so difficult to accept and believe love at first sight between humanoid species can exist? In the end, the outcome was the same. Not much of the story was affected.
+Isela Pena Oh yes! Finally somebody gets it indeed ~__~; That's exactly what it is all up in here. Which is why people should just keep their ships to themselves... XD or at least not get so butthurt about it.. It's to imagine but that's as far as it goes.. I mean.. wouldn't be as bad if they didn't get so hostile then maybe you could get a glimpse of their perspective. Ah well.. x.x
Makkaru112 yes, there's no reason for people to get so upset over what's essentially a fan fiction, especially when the original source material is good on it's own and isn't going anywhere. These same nay sayers and so called Tolkien fans do things that would've upset him if he knew about it. He was very protective of his work. Might even have disapproved of some of the alterations of lotr movies, like making gimli a sillier character and saruman dying. So yeah, can't please everyone. Lets just agree that the books are awesome and if you can't handle movie adaptations, just stick with the books. Problem solved
The more I was watching this here, the sadder I became with an understanding of loss. Thinking about the potential a certain TV show had, brought me to tears. I am truly and deeply sorry!
The dwarf asking for her hair, and she giving it was incredible because if you’ve read the Silmarillion you’d know that she’s been asked before by someone more fair and refused him.
She is a beautiful woman and the red hair makes her even more so. It definitely suits her. She should dye her own hair that same red colour and grow it long.
