From memory, it was temporarily withdrawn from the market due to high radium-226 and other contaminants. I remember Mike Walsh doing a series of ads advising that Taurina Spa was back. I don't think it ever recovered from the scare and other brands quickly took over their market share.
As I recall Taurina Spa mineral water was one of the (if not the) first bottled bottled waters launched in Australia around 1977-78 - the first and possibly last foray of Kerry Packer in FMCG, except, being ahead of its time, like many pioneers it died. Kerry was advised by a European consultant Dr Peter (can't remember). This happened at a time when Kerry was in the early part of his learning curve, and like most of us, it came from considerable pain. Apart from Taurina bombing, the Gold Coast property market in which he'd debt funded investments was on a cyclical dive, and the first year of WSC was a disaster due to it being high cost TV programming relying on daytime TV advertising rates which were around 25% of prime time. WSC displaced the daytime soapies which rated 20's and were a revenue bonanza.
