He basically said FAMILY was more important than career. Who are these people disputing that? I am so glad you were not my mother. No wonder we have so many confused kids running around.

As an African American this topic is relevant for me and should be for every American. This discussion needs to start in high school and be further discussed in college. American families are in a crisis and don’t let the deceptive media fool you.

Religious schools should not be forced to adopt secular values. If you arent catholic perhaps choose a different school rather than try to change these institutions.

The guy was speaking at a Catholic school, with family and and family values. He values his wife and what dhe does to make a home, whats the problem. Hes not belittling his wife . I love it when events like this occur. Because, magically, it snowballs into a colossal barrier to identify and separate the righteous from the transgressor, the good from evil, the truth from falsehood, the real from fake, the humble from arrogant, the believer from disbeliever, etc..... A man with love for his wife and family. We need more of this! My hubby and I worked split shifts so one of us was always home with our twins. We made it work that way and let me tell you my hubby will tell you that being a stay at home parent is a lot of work but so rewarding.

Butker is so right. I can tell you that being a mother for 26 years has been one of the great experiences in my life. Even better and more satisfying that the books, movies and plays I have sold and the starring roles I have had. And I am a man whose wife said, look I know how much you hate the movie business so what if you become a stay at home dad and I work. You can play golf and write books and raise the boys. This is what I did. I loved every minute of it.

As always, the media can spin a story and inflate those who were “offended” by this gentleman’s speech. His words were absolutely heartfelt and if one takes a moment or two to hear and contemplate his words, there is profound wisdom and beauty there.

What a great speech, every Catholic man needs to be able to stand up just like that, and lead… And anybody who’s got a problem with it and calls themself Catholic, including the founding sisters, had better reevaluate their lives and either dedicate themselves to Christ or just get lost.

He drew from his experience just like every other speaker. His speech was a love letter to his wife, her sacrifice to her family and him being the man he is because of her. Not sure why this is controversial.

I teach at a collegiate level. I tell all of my female students to never depend upon a man for money, to always have their own bank accounts, and to keep themselves relevant in the job market. Some women are fortunate and stay-at-home-mom works out. Others have to stay in abusive relationships because they allowed themselves to become irrelevant in the job market and are unable to make enough money to take care of themselves and their children.

Butker spoke truth boldly, and especially praised motherhood - those who have with what he said have issues with themselves which they need to address.

I have a master's degree, I'm married 25 years but chose to not have children for personal reasons that have zero to do with a "career". And I applaud this young man's speech. He is 100% right. Women are lied to. My life truly began when I got married. Had I been a mother, that would have been my most important job. Funny if his speech told men to be stay at home dads, the left would be cheering for him. It's disgusting the way the hateful left is treating him. The fact that telling women to value motherhood is controversial today is one of the reasons why we don't have kids. I don't believe this world can be saved.

As a Christian I loved his speech! He didn’t say women HAD to be homemakers…just that he assumed they would feel most satisfied by that accomplishment. As a college educated, working wife/mother…my family is my biggest accomplishment and I wish I could be a full time homemaker.
