This is the rematch after Tawanchai KO'd Sangmanee in their first fight. In this epic rematch Tawanchai was paid 200,000 baht and Sangmanee was paid 270,000 baht. Any fight where both fighters are paid at least 100,000 baht is a fight of epic proportions.
The first fight between these two legends was a heavily hyped fight that even old school Muay Thai fans were excited for, going so far as to compare it to insane matchups between the elite GOATs of the golden era of Muay Thai. In that fight Sangmanee was winning on points until Tawanchai launched a perfectly timed headkick and Sangmanee, who usually takes brutal attacks to the head without getting phased, went down. Sangmanee actually tried to block it with his hand but Tawanchai kicked through it. It was the first time in Sangmanee's life that he lost by KO. Everyone was shocked.
After this fight, Sangmanee would go on to defeat the horrifying KO artist Yodlekphet Or. Pitisak (Or. Atchariya) nicknamed "The Destroyer" and Yodpanomrung Jitmuangnon AKA "The Lightning Knee". Sangmanee started declining afterwards because he started studying law not to mention that the corrupt gamblers forced him to move up to 140-145 lbs when he was originally fighting at 135 lbs. Sangmanee graduated in February 2023 and is pursuing his master's degree in law which is why he hasn't been training seriously ever since 2018 probably. Because of this, Sangmanee suffered one of the biggest falls from grace in Muay Thai history...
Sangmanee temporarily retired from Muay Thai after getting knocked out by Fabio Reis and is now training at the Evolve MMA gym in Singapore. This means that Sangmanee is now training with an excellent strength and condition program so I'm eagerly waiting for what awaits Sangmanee should he ever come back to Muay Thai. UPDATE MAY 2024: Sangmanee got fired from Evolve MMA after he accused them of mistreating him. They also mistreated Nong-O and Sam-A and I suspect they mistreated Panpayak Jitmuangnon too. They have no shame.
