I worked my arse off for 48 years, didn't go on holiday, smoke or drink. My wife and I own our modest home in a quiet area of the Westcountry. We bother nobody and have savings. Give up my life's work for a socialist ideal? Never. A jail sentence is less of a deterrent as you get older. Anyone trying to take my home will pay dearly, I'll defend it with my life.
Amen to you, we need to speak out. No illegal immigrants any more, I’m afraid I’d put them in a secure facility until it could be unequivocally proved they had aright to be here. Adverse possession is after 12 years of using a piece of land as your oven to cultivate or for access. You can claim it then. How dare people think they have the right to move in to a piece of real estate, probably expensive, and then it will be trashed by said people. They don’t deserve anything. Are these squatters foreign?
@@user-xi1br6ur1qthey are deliberately turning on taps to flood heritage buildings in order to let it rot and have it bulldozed so they can get the land. Those professional squatters are paid good money to do this, FOLLOW THE MONEY

Why is it some people feel its ok to bash the elderly but get really outraged if you say anything about a black person or a gay person. Whats the difference its all discrimination .
The elderly can’t fight back. Same for disabled people looking for work. It’s not easy for them to get jobs and there are disabled people who want to work unlike many of the Labour voting shirkers sitting around all day ding nothing. Its all the ethnic people and the LGBTQ people get privileges like work handed on a plate or they protest.
Thats it move the elderley out who have paid taxes all their lives and stick them in a flat with Abdul above them selling goodness knows what and playing music till 3am Great idea. I have an even better one,Elderly keep what they legally own and you go and live in a flat.
The classic would-be "socialist". Tax those that have saved something, and scatter it to those that haven't. Then one day we'd be all equally poor. Then what?
@@jane1975 Yes, everyone is equally poor and there is no landowners who, once they 'got theirs' ran away with it and turned everyone else into 'wage slaves'. So what they ended up with is everyone starving to death but equally poor and equally homeowners. (nobody is a 'landowner' though but everyone got a 70 year lease). If you want to FAFO, keep using city councils and layers of government to use rules to make their 'real estate investments' stay high and go up. right now they're just organizing into 'pro squatters' and soon they will start physically defending the land. Ironically, this government powered housing crisis is what will bring about more commie kids. We don't want that. Get back to a real free market and very limited government (get it out) ASAP or we will find out what happens.
@uexodus1 He literally stated that the elderly should pay a bedroom tax along with the outrageous property tax they already pay essentially taxing them out of their homes. He wants older people stacked in disgusting overpriced tiny apartments to make room for the unwelcome, unemployed and illegal often violent migrants who will also be supported through tax dollars. Give your head a shake.
It is incredibly expensive to downsize. We are empty nesters and live in a 5 Bedroom house. If we want to downsize to 3 bedrooms almost all the equity that we have in this property disappears in moving costs, solicitors fees, stamp duty, redecoration costs, etc.etc. It is therefore better to stay here and save it for our children to benefit when we expire rather than giving all these middlemen and chancers part of their inheritance.
its the stamp duty that is the major issue. if the govt was so keen, then they would make a special abolition of stamp duty for over 65s who downsize( subject to criteria). plus your kids should be given the choice to live in your home from inheritance or sell to fund where they want to live
You can also argue that you then leave it to your kids so they can use it for their families when the time comes. That would free them up from buying another one, which would then leave that property they would have bought in the property chain, thus creating the extra home this guy seems to want. Not everybody wants to live in s flat, surrounded by loads of other people, instead of in peace in their own home. This guy is an idiot. No way am I trading my 2 bed rural semi that I've worked all my life to pay for, with a view down to the sea for some grotty flat with no garden, surrounded by who knows who. Edited to add. Cameron's bedroom tax is why I stopped voting and abstained from there on. The method of application penalised the wrong people.
Thing is, intermediaries and other expenses will still need to be paid, by your children, when they sell the property. Other reasons for staying put might be more valid therefore.
Tax the elderly out of their homes? That they've worked ALL their lives for? It doesnt matter whether you use what you own or not use it for. You own it. You worked for it. It belongs to you. You can stand on your head in it, or not use it at all, but ITS YOURS. You own it. Absolutely despicable.
What is happening is the gov is listening to Klaus shwarb..even Prince William has signed up to it all. Masquerading as a charity. Well charity begins at home ...your home.. it's Not the governments.
Why's it's OK for anything negative, turn it on the elderly. If they worked hard all their adult life to pay a mortgage, it's their legal right to live in their property until death.
@junecunningham9262: Ah, but to the left and especially the more left it goes the more they believe "all private property is theft" mantra whilst owning private property themselves.
@noelfleming3567 What on earth do you think compulsory purchase is? The government absolutely has the ability to yeet us, all it need do is twiddle legislation.
Why should people who have worked, saved and paid a mortgage for many many years, not be able to enjoy their nice home for the rest of their lives regardless of how many rooms are used?
Because if they want to enjoy the rest of their lives they depend on young people being born to take care of them. Because that means crowding the world, they will have to make sacrifices. Can't have everything.
No the immgrants don’t have to pay council tax housing rent , gas and electric all they pay is tax on there wage slip while British taxpayers pay for the rest
The police very very rarely deal with trespass... If by breaking and entering you mean burglary then there are specific offences that have to be committed once entering as a trespasser
trespassing is a civil matter. Many abandoned buildings have already had windows smashed from feral youths with nothing better to do. Entering through an already broken window is not breaking and entering. It's simply an act of entering. You aren't necessarily trespassing unless you have been asked to leave by the building owner but refuse to leave but it would still be a civil matter until such a point it becomes aggravated trespass which is a criminal matter.
They’re too busy with other stuff - it’s taking 12 officers to look into Angela Rayner’s housing arrangements and they say that it could take weeks to sort out. 12 officers!!
Older people have paid their own money for their homes doesn’t matter who lives in that home it’s private property and no one has a right to tell them what to do with their own property!!!!!!
Trouble is the gov want to bring in a law of you own nothing and be happy... We'f and new world order are playing their hand with the government. The people need to speak out.
You young man can poke your FLAT where the sun don’t shine I am staying in my 3 bedroom bungalow until I am carried out in my coffin I worked hard all my life and no one is going to tell me to live in a flat
How dare you expect elderly people who have worked hard for their homes most of their lives to downsize, and to tax them to do so!!, My goodness how cruel!!!!!!
At the end of the day it's really insane that we even have a housing crisis...the White British population has not increased since 1973. So for example, when we are told we need foreign staff to keep the NHS going, this is a disingeuous half truth. Loads of foreigners are needed to staff the NHS, because we have loads of foreigners using our healthcare system. You really couldn't make it up. RIP Great Britain.
Child care is horrendous and it’s not aligned with the south at all….child poverty is rocketing…but you can gaurentee that funding for immigration…and all the frightening money that goes into it….the funding for new mosques, medical expenses, housing costs will be high on the agenda with no cuts whatsoever
If child poverty is rocketing, blame the parents. They shack up in rented property, have kids, then wonder why they can't get on the property ladder. In my day, you saved for your first house whilst living with parents, once you achieved that you had your family.
@@fisherman5517 well you can see the results already in society. Kids in the UK are like ferals compared to kids in other nations. Elderly have no value. Christian values are out. Nobody cares about what their previous generations were like.
Novara Media, say no more. People who associate themselves with that dreadful organisation would have us all living in highly spartan communes if they could have it their way.
If someone with a large family is living in cramped accommodation, whose fault is that? Who decided to have lots of children? Why should anyone else be penalised for their decisions? Having children is a life-style choice and if people are having children which they cannot afford, then they have created their own situation.
So he presumes every old person should be living in a flat? That's a recipe for even more of the elderly to feel isolated, and not even having a garden to enjoy.
This guys naive, we do get taxed on the size of the house we live in, including council tax. I don't think forcing pensioners out of their homes to flats is advisable, it's okay for young people but old people rely on their neighbours and their gardens.
If people have bought their property with their money that was taxed it is up to them if they want to stay not for council or government to tax them out.
sadly i live in one of those shite holes called a flat and have done since 1998 , i do not recommend it as im 69 years old now and disabled but it must be better than liveing in a care home being stuffed with pills and people you do not know or understand that treat you like a peace of shite , but an english mans home is his castle so they say.
I’m 33 and live in a 3 bed house by myself. I work hard for it and pay for it myself, I’m not leaving and going into a flat to make room for someone else’s family.
Richardd Simple. (1) Maggie Thatcher sold council houses cheap. (2.) Future govts did not build any replacement houses. (3.) Unlike other European govts such as Denmark, the British govt did not invest in cheap, subsidised affordable pre school nursery places for young mothers who wanted to rerurn to work and/or have more babies. (4.) Mass immigration by offering good benefits to those who wanted to come here.
At £300 a day why would they get the job done !! So, if my elderly mother dies, and her house is empty for a few weeks/months due to legal issues, someone can simply gain entry and take possession? By the way, people DO pay sky high rates if living alone in a six bedroomed house-they pay the same as a family of six living in an identical house next door.
Oh ! Tax folk to the point that they cannot live in their house cause he wants the undeserved to have a house that someone has worked for ? Bell end this guy is .
He has no empathy. Wait till he is old soon be changing his mind. He hasn't been educated. He has been programmed. If this is socialist speak God help us.
When we downsize, it will not be to a flat! Our house it too big for me and my husband now the children have grown up and the stairs will become an issue but If and when I leave my lovely Victorian house, a flat would be the very last option for us.
Are you joking I worked twelve hour shifts to pay for my home why should I have to leave it to make way for the younger generation let them do what I did and work their asses of to buy a home I didnt smoke drink or drink or go on holidays I saved and bough my home. No way would I move into a flat to accomodate the young.
Why should someone like me who worked 52 years be forced by excessive taxes or other laws to leave my home because there are one or two rooms to spare.
You need the spare rooms for family to stay or friends. It's your home not a gov business telling you what to do. They work for us not the other way round.
Socialism is a great idea when you’re taking more out of the system when you’re putting in. It’s not such a great idea when you’re putting more in than you’re getting out. Or when the system decides you’re surplus to requirements.
After working all our lives and being taxed to the limit why in our later years should we be penalized for keeping our homes in a good condition and finally enjoying our retirement. Why should we be moved into flats ,again pensioners are being targeted and made to carry the can for bad government.BEWARE OF VOTING LABOUR IF THEY GET IN WE WILL LOSE EVERYTHING.!! I and my family voted labour all our lives I come from a working class background not MONIED.
They are all the same Labour and tories. The system stinks. It's not broken it is meant to be this way. Immigration and wars spending money like water. People's taxes not going to help communities. We all can see what is going on. Next time they tell you to lockdown don't consent. That's a start.!
I have worked very hard to buy the house that I now live in. It's private, it has a nice garden and I look forward to coming home to it. Why on earth would I want to give this up and move into a flat so that some work-shy socialist, who thinks the country owes them a living can benefit from all the luxuries my home provide. Im close to retirement, and have paid enough in taxes over the years (the high end rates) and I'm sick of listening to these socialists, telling me that I need to pay more. When they pay 50% or more of what they earn in tax, then I may be willing to listen to what they have to say.
They regard older people and pensioners as a nuisance, especially if they actually retire or outlive their "usefulness". The 1970s sci-fi film Logan's Run, is looking increasingly prophetic.
@@johnkitching2248 Does that even need to happen? Don't most of them sit empty except for a few weeks a year? Balmoral and Sandringham and even Windsor alone could house a Lot of illegals and squatters.
England is a joke, now. And people saying it's OK take over a business, a property, or anything else that is not owned by them is ridiculous. Michael, let's see what you say when they do this to you. Things have changed a lot in the last 70 years.
This is not a socialist idea, both labour and tory know the biggest power the people have is in the land they own. Two old council houses could eb turned into ten flats. Both tory and labour want to price us out of owning property.
Most young people I know do to work a full week and even wrangle working from home. This will get our country nowhere. AS for older people making way for the young. The young need to pull their socks up first. If you work hard and achieve something good in life why do you have to give it up for the 'giveme' generation. To tax old people to get them to move is sick, and whoever said that should be ashamed on themselves. They will be old one day. Just because you are old doesn't mean that you should classed as a second class citizen. Many elderly I know will jump over the heads of these youngsters. Do something about the youngsters please! Shape them up!!!!!!
Labour will make you give up any "spare" bedroom for our new "guests", if you upset them in any way, YOU will be the one kicked out....................
If you own your own home they can't do this, but if you're renting council property then they could make you rent out a room!, it was stated that if you have less occupancy than bedrooms in your house ie 2people and 3 bedrooms then you could rent a room out!, how this would fare I don't know as if you're already renting off the council then you will be subletting, against the law.
A better law would to be to tax those who own empty properties a higher rate so it would FORCE them to fill them. There are places in the countryside that are literal ghost towns because those in cities own them.
Land Reform. 95 Percent of people in Laos are land or home owners. Look it up. In UK home ownership includes leasehold and property share. So when government tells you over 60 percent own their own home, the percentage falls drastically when the question is changed to OUTRIGHT OWNERSHIP, it barely exists !
So some bint drops 7 kids, granny Smith gets forced out of her house because of a tax so then for said bint can use her extra rooms. The extra tax is then payed by us the tax payer lol.
Kick MPs out of their second homes and provide dormitories for parliamentary use before you kick anyone out of their only property. They will tax everyone out of their homes. It will of course be an eco-tax, as part of Net zero you will have to comply with a set of rules that cost half the value of the property or sell it to someone who can. The housing crisis is very strange, considering we managed to build over a million homes in 1948 but can't manage a tenth of that now? Could it be that there is no political will to not inflate house prices while importing cheap labour? Would sorting out the corruption and money laundering in the UK property market expose too many party donors or foreign companies buying up the country piecemeal, so we cannot own our own homes. As for single occupancy of houses, do you think that those who bought and paid off their homes never have their children and grandchildren visit? There is always a smug socialist prepared to dispose of other people's wealth, and the fading dream for most is a job where they can earn enough to buy a home to raise a family. Forget holidays let's face it, you won't get a cheap hotel at the seaside any more, those are not for you.
Saw it all today outside my local Sainsbury's store diversity has set himself up with a camp bed, pillows, duvet, top of the range mobile phone and begging bowl right outside the main entrance ...
His squatter defense is horrific on so many fronts. Firstly, why would a man from ENGLAND quote a centuries old tradition from the AMERICAN frontier west to make his argument? (a "tradition" btw that was long since outlawed since it encouraged criminals to burn people out of their homes so they could take their land) Furthermore, the idea that people can't own property if they aren't actively using it is absurd. What if someone is in hospital for a long time because of a long term disease or severe accident? What if a soldier is stationed abroad and doesn't want to sell his home, can someone just grab it? How long is "a long time"? 6 months? 1 year? Can a man spend 5 years working in Thailand for his international company, only returning home once or twice a year, and lose his house? If squatters have rights, what are their responsibilities? If a squatter grabs someone's house, does he have to pay for taxes, fees or maintenance? And my guess is this guy doesn't own a house, or he'd NEVER have this belief.
