70s New York is kind of famously grimy. The Blackout was the last straw, after that the new mayor came in and cleaned everything up. And now New York City is an amusement park.
@@jesusiskingofkingsz everybody that actually lived in New York in the '70s much prefers what it is today. the idea that all that grime was more "authentic" than today hides all the pervasive crime and poverty at that time. I'd much rather deal with annoying Williamsburg trust-fund kids than be constantly in fear of getting mugged
he's not actually that ripped, just strong and lean. his muscles aren't quite as developed as i would call ripped. for example, his rear delts are undeveloped.
Some have Rocky or superhero movies to motivate them to go to the gym. For me Taxi driver is the only movie that motivated's me to keep in shape, even if he's an unstable person.
It's kinda cool but does it mean anything reall?, it just sounds like Travis is trying to be edgy and blame people (palentine and his crew, his security guards wich problably are the "king's men", etc) that have nothing to do with his suffering.
The pullups are actually PERFECT. Slow negatives to dead hang and fully clearing the top of the bar pausing. If more people did them strict like this, they'd see better results.
@@unbekannt6505 - Not true man. This is how I always do my pullups and I weigh 210lbs. If someone has to kip or use momentum they're not ready for unassisted pullups yet.
@@ryandeffley7652 I didnt say its impossible, i just said its no problem if your weight is 50 kg. Years ago i was around 68 kg and 50 pushups were no problem. Now i am around 95 and 50 push ups are not the same anymore. I am glad when i can do 15, even if my strenght is generally increased. Back then it was way more easy.
Glad I’m not the only one who thought this; Ever since I’ve finished Breaking Bad+every time I rewatch Taxi Driver, this shit always plays out in my head lmao
interesting training reigment: -hand over fire -pushups/pull ups -pretend ur an outlaw in the west infron of the mirror pulling guns out -porn rinse and repeat
*Look at the size of that. Oh yeah, Oh yeah. Oh, It Looks so good* She must have been talking about that S&W Model 29 that Travis is holding at 1:16 Seriously, look at that thing, it's a monster!
The Smith and Wesson model 29 in the movie had an 8 & 3/8s inch barrel. The longest standard barrel length available at the time, I think DON'T QUOTE ME on that.
The sound editing has completely removed the *intentionally overstated* sound of the gun hammer when the trigger is pulled. In the original version that was a sound almost like a gunshot itself. Every sound was enhanced, from the ticking of the clock to the squeak and groan of the leather holster as he put the gun away, to the *bang* that happened when he pulled the trigger and the hammer clicked. Here, that extra sound is missing.
@CHAINSofFATE ...or tissue destruction, which doesn't make you stronger, just weaker (so it's pretty stupid, but the character's not that bright, so...).
@Kevin Estrada all physique types have their advantages, but to me lean and athletic is my favorite physique because the unique mix of mobility with strength. Bruce lee is a good example.
@@iliveinsideyourhouse3943 not all big physique mean you are slow, it depends on what exercises and activities you do for that physique. Big people can be mobile as well, however being nimble and lighter to me is a better option.
0:22 Robert DeNiro really loves putting his hands into extreme heat.... he does this again in Cape Fear when he held a road flare which dripped melting plastic in his hand !!!
@@pjansen2010 He didn't work on firing the gun enough for training for the role. I heard Robert Patrick worked on firing guns without flinching for T2 Judgement day and you can see it in the movie he doesnt flinch when firing
To think DeNiro played this character so long ago, like as an adult watching him look at himself in the mirror, showing off his guns, feeling powerful is pretty disturbing. There’s a lot more people like this then we could ever imagine
Oct,6 I gotta get in shape now. Too much sitting has ruined my body. Too much abuse has gone on for too long. From now on, It'll be 50 pushups each morning. Fifty pull-ups. There will be no more pills. There will be no more bad food, no more destroyers of my body. From now on, it'll be total organization. Every muscle must be tight. The idea had been growing in my brain for some time. True force. All the King's man cannot put it back together again.

No Autographs no he actually was a vet in one scene you can see a captured viet-cong flag draped over a rack as a war trophy. (I doubt Travis would buy a VC flag and have it hanging in his room just to better sell the lie when almost nobody ever visits him)
a man desperately searching for a reason to work for... the clear expression of a sick society. a man without an aim in life gets crazy. I guess each person who watched this movie saw himself at least in a couple of scenes. what a movie.....
Hard choice between Taxi Driver, Platoon, Dog Day Afternoon, Apocalypse Now, High Plains Drifter, Shane, Dirty Harry, The Dirty Dozen, The Good the Bad and the Ugly, Up in Smoke, Full Metal Jacket, JFK, Death Wish. My wife doesn't understand how I can watch the same movies over and over. I hate the crap on TV now. I missed all the Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan movies. How can I forget Goodfellas and Casino. But yeah, I'm going to watch Taxi Driver again tonight. The Green Berets, Its a Mad Mad Mad World, The Ghost and Mr Chicken, All the Three Stooges movies, Tribes, The Birdman of Alcatraz, James Cagney movies, Scarface, Half Baked, The Sands of Iwo Jima, The Boys of Company C.
Agree, but it's nice to see movies like joker and parasites that actually treat the audience like they have a freaking brain, but most of the theatres today are filled with cgi coverd crap, And that's coming from a 14 year old marvel fanboy
@@b.d6642 I agree with you!But unfortunatelly this industry is in deep decline and is a shame really! We as people who watch as well as directors etc gave way to easy cgi bullcrap with movies that are in fact ridiculous and have no meaning at all.Of course there will be good movies and still are but the magic of movies is long gone.I am tired of just see the same recycled trash over and over again and movies like these get millions of money! We say oh its the movies or this industry or Hollywood or whatever you want to say but its our fault as well that we dropped the iq from movies to become the definition of garbages that these and not gonna lie shape ourselfs and our world as well
I can't believe it. Robert De Nero had an amazing two decades in the late 20th century, but once the new millennium hit everything just took a nosedive!
