Turkey tail fan and beard panels are a great way to make a nice display from your turkey hunt! Most of the items needed can be purchased at your local big box store!
thanks... There was one part at the very end of my fan mount that I could not figure out until I saw your video and it was absolutely perfect thank you so much you just saved me a whole lot of Mental anguish ...lol
Does the borax need to set any amount of time on the skin? I watched another video that said it had to dry out for two weeks before bondo-ing. Thanks for the very helpful video!
Hi, i Have a Falcón wings And tail cutted which i put them spreaded on a wooden board with a lot of salt. Where i live the weather is a little moist so the salt got a little moist too, even It was indoors with heat. After that even the parts and the meat is dry, it has a funny smell like dry meat but maybe rotten, not from magets dough but it smells funny. I wanted to try to make a fan out of the wings And tail. What can i do about the smell? Can it be fixed with a substance or something? What can you recomend? Thanks And awesome video!
I had done this and tails turned out nicely, but had a moth infestation (after 1-2 years of enjoying results), and the moths ate most of the fine "hairs" on the feathers, leaving lots of holes in the fan/stripped quills. Any recommendations on avoiding that in the future, beyond "don't get moths". :) I've been looking into Mount Medix products. PS, nice work!
Ok so I am new to this but thought I would try to preserve a tail....I did not do my research now have a tail that is moving =( My question is can I recover from this? I salted it, but now see Borax is the trick...Would freezing it give me a second chance? Again....I am very new at this and without experience there is no knowledge =)

+Abbyboudreaux Hi Abby! As long as you have cleaned the fat and muscle very well and brush the excess borax off before bondo-ing it will be fine without drying. The bondo isn't an adhesive as much as it acts as a holder to lock the quills in place. If you have the time to let it dry for two weeks it will help it to stay in place as you bondo it but not necessary as long as you are gentle while moving it. Thanks for watching!
