This is a mash up of my own dash cam that I used. Taxis in the Western Cape, coming and going as they please here in South Africa. Yet we ask ourselves how come they get away with it all...
We applaud ur courage to expose lawlessness in our country!!!I suppose many politicians and government workers r investors and partners in these taxi industries.
Overseas they wont get away with it, they will receive citations and even can do time. Here in South Africa, there is no one to report these drivers too, reporting them to the police or traffic department even with evidence is just a waist of ones time. Nothing gets done about it. Even the traffic department has already told me unless there is a serious accident please don't call us again. The police might take a report and not bother further with it as there was no accident The lawlessness will just continue and they add to the road deaths Once in a while they get caught, then they go on a strike action because of outstanding fines
Metropolice started a WhatsApp interface to report and upload video evidence of traffic offences. I was reporting upwards of 20 a day from taxis alone, on a 10km drive to, and from work. I think the sheer overwhelming number killed any hope of the system actually working. The WhatsApp interface is now defunct.
You forgot to mention from 2:47 - 3:30 that they're doing that just to cut in in front (across 4 lanes) cause they need to make a right turn onto the N7 turn off 😂
Such a pity that a few ruin it for the rest beautiful country so much potential but sadly the ANC and there corrupt government killed SAA SAR etc. Sad sad 😔
Love SA. It is truly my favorite country in the entire world. Lived there for years and wish I could move back. Unfortunately this just shows a small glimpse of why I can never live there again. Pure lawlessness and corruption. These guys get to do whatever tf they want and cops will just turn there heads. Meanwhile will set up roadblocks and take innocent working people cool-drink money all day. Shame on this government. The rules do not apply to everyone sadly smh
The police fear the taxi drivers, as sad as that is! That is how much power and influence the taxi industry has in this country. It just pisses me off. This is a good explanation of the situation: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3zjXtsRrmFE.htmlsi=sOTQl7rqxOzPLjAC It's just sad
You're alone in your vehicle, passengers whom some of them are your employees, need to either get home or work in time, you penalise them when they are late for work. You leave your house in your vehicle, on your own, taxi drivers have to ensure 16 passengers jobs and salary are safe each Day. Your life is easy, some passengers have to walk distances from where the taxi drops them off. You can't make a judgement if you haven't used a taxi on a regular basis. Those with that experience don't complain because they know why. You're an outsider looking in. Take a taxi for a month then you'll understand. Don't judge what you never experienced Sir.
You can’t justify a persons life is easy because they own a vehicle number 1. Taxi drivers do not ensure that passengers are safe as you can see in the clip. Normal car drivers have to watch out for more than one vehicle purely because of taxi drivers that are reckless. I think you should watch the video again or wait for more content on the recklessness of these taxi drivers… But taking in to account, the passengers also have a right to ensure that the taxi driver is abiding by the law.
I have ridden in mini bus taxis before, and at times I wondered if I am ever going to get to my destination alive the way some drive. There are a few of them that are friendly and drive safe. They even go out their way for you. The sad truth is money and time, the more people they can drop off the more money, at the end your life is at stake and I have seen dead bodies scattered across roads and the driver is fine. I have footage I cant upload caught on dashcam of a taxi driver who drove too fast and lost control. RU-vid will take the video down

This comment so full of bs! Taxi drivers are NOT safe. They drive reckless and put there passengers at risk everyday. How are you getting to work on time if they get into a car wreck? They are also bullies and intimidators of innocent drivers and even PHYSICALLY HARM Uber drivers who are just trying to make an honest living for their families. They need to be stopped but that will never happen in a country that has no police! And you support this idiotic behavior than YOU are part of the problem!
That's about the only good thing that they did...otherwise they're terrible. I once almost witnessed an accident because the taxi sped in the upcoming traffic lane. It didn't go back to the right lane. Just sped up and tye lady coming up was forced to swerve off of the road because of the taxi
This is what we deal with on a daily basis. They don't even have any regard for their passengers safety, so why would they care about other road users. And you ask yourself where the law enforcement officials are. They should be deployed ESPECIALLY during peak hours, to stop these taxis, but they are happy to stop normal law abiding citizens for no reason
@@cork9884 Lol Rofl I've had two of those, the @#%& head cut from fast lane N2 south to off ramp N3, I rolled down passenger window shot passed a lane of traffic and landed in his lap. Unbelievable, like I willed it or something. >
This is really upsetting, especially because they are not only endangering the lives of other motorists, but the passengers in those very same taxis. And they get away with murder because they always have R20 with them to bribe the officers along the road. Our Justice system has failed us big time.
sbusiso ngobese people hate but they will be crying when their workers and gardeners don’t show up because they have no transport. Taxis contribute massively to our country, it’s just they take their job a bit too seriously sometimes.
I agree with you. You're safer at night to treat a red traffic light as a 4 way STOP street then to actually sit waiting IF THERE ARE NO CARS. You'll get hijacked
I remember after I got my driver's license in 2007, an old white colleague of mine told me that to survive on the road in SA, you must treat taxi drivers like emergency vehicles. Best advice ever.
The SA government should take full responsibility. They have allowed the situation to develop into what it is now by having no policing. Populations require laws and boundaries and transgression of the laws requires consequences. Unfortunately there are no consequences and so the situation has developed.
Our brave Western Cape Traffic Department will Pull over vehicles with big problems.....like reverse lights that only work when in reverse.....but don't see the wrong in the Taxi's drive.....Taxi's should be banned all together,.....there are enough provincial buses with responsible drivers to do the job saver.....
Police?? Police??? Oh yeah it's Western Cape... Here in KZN we have fat slobs who NEVER patrol the roads. When there is loadshedding at peak hour traffic where are they? Probably at some greasy spoon.
And there it is...!!!!!.... . The race card is played....!!!!!.....This nothing at all to do with the colour of anyones skin.... Its got to do with the mantality of these drivers.... Most of them dont belong on any roads..... They have no respect for anyone on the roads..... They are a danger to everyone..... And should be dealt with..... They need to bring back government public transport..... Point....!!!!!
We should slash their tires. In December it gets worse, roads are crazy then when the bastards go back to natal and limpopo. And its clear that its a banana republic system, let a private car owner try out that tipe of driving?! Big fines and maybe even lockup
Hey a taxi driver pointed me with a gun on the n2 near Cape International Airport once. That was because would not let him pass me in the emergency lane with his taxi's. So when he eventually pass me, he pointed the gun at me. I nearly froze. PAARL
The traffic officers only go for soft targets on BS offences. One of them fined me R2500 as he claimed i crossed a solid line which was not the case i had actually waited till i was passed the line he was standing about 800 m away on top of a hill . On boxing day I could not argue otherwise he would lock me up probably till after new year and it being 400km from my home town to contest it in court would have cost me way more then the fine on fuel accomodations days ogf work off etc . And that bastard knew that
This is the perfect example of selfish driving. By pushing in you cause an even larger backlog, thus decreasing efficiency of the transportation system. This decrease in efficiency costs the country an unimaginable amount of money due to people arriving late for work, added stress that debilitates your concentration and efficiency at the workplace as well as built up rage that leads to bad decision-making. The same can be said for people driving 60km/h in a 120km/h zone.
@@jurieccilliers But it is legal unless there is a blue background on a sign that states the minimum you are allowed to drive. 100% legal. I can drive 40km/h on the highway if I want to. Not that I would unless I notice a problem on the car, to slow down and get off of the road. But legal nevertheless.
Once there was real bad traffic on my way to college. There are two of my friends who also take the same highway as I do, but one of them goes via taxi. Me and the other one with the car were late except her. She explained to me that she too was afraid of being late, but since she goes with a taxi, I should understand *why* she wasn't late considering how they drive.
What I know is if there is heavy traffic on ghe road and less/no traffic officers, most taxis drivers knows how to avoid the traffic and get you ahead of most of those who are caught up on it
Heinrich Karsten rather rock up late than not at all. Learn to deal with poorly driven taxis and see the fact that they get 50% of SAs workforce where they need to be every day. Our governments attempts at public transport have, for the most part, failed. The guy that stops in the left lane and blocks your way isn’t gonna kill you, he’s trying to squeeze an extra 50 bucks in for his boss so he can feed his family.
Being a motorcyclist it is so upsetting having to deal with this recklessness. Taxis have no care about other motorists or their passengers and they get away with it. And also they attack uber drivers for doing a better job than them - Uber is safer, less hassle, and no time wasted on corners and circling looking for passengers. Taxis suck and the traffic department too for not enforcing the rules of the road on these thugs. And how they fight with each other over passengers is the worst!! Pulling the potential customer or "helping" with their bags to make sure the person gets in that taxi. Something needs to be done. Police are never there when you need them so they might as well ensure fair use of our roads. #padvarke(road-pigs)
Everyday thing on my way to Parklands each day and nothing is being done. Is this how our New South Africans should drive. If so, please let me know as I would love this new driving style!!!
I wish there was a system to report these minibus offences..... I also wish that if there was a system like this, the officials in charge would be competent enough to enforce it- nevermind I'll just move to Lisbon, Portugal with my Computer Science degree :).
And to think they want all the law obiding citizens to have a retest of their valid divers licence. Is not the licence to drive that is the problem. It is the idiot behind the wheel. His/her attitude is what must be changed. Just another money making sceme
We are not celebrating our taxi drivers enough ✊thanks for this vid mate, thing is you guys don't understand how the taxi business work, the driver has to give the owner a certain amount of money, he must also get his cut, & the petrol is his responsibility, besides the fact that they are getting us to work on time, those guys are bread winners, more people more money, to minimize time & maximum money that's what they do. But you wouldn't understand you got your first car when you were 18, you've never used a taxi in your life
maisha herbert don’t be all judgmental if you don’t know another persons upbringing. I respect the fact that they making an effort to get other people to work. What I don’t appreciate is the fact that they are they main causes of accidents and deaths on the road, to top that put other peoples lives at risk is also not acceptable. So yes. I do not appreciate taxi drivers. Why? They don’t appreciate the rules of the road and the lives of others.
In South Africa when you do your license they teach you if you put your hazards on you can stop wherever you like and also red means go and green means go faster . Then also emergency lanes are there to overtake .
Back in the uk and miss south Africa. But those taxis I do not miss. It's time the police really clamped down on these drivers. Here in the uk I hear that all new cars will eventually be fitted with dash cam as standard. Think that is a good idea, not just the driving incidents but can also be used as evidence for other off road crimes.
Yup, these bastards get away with it everyday!! The cops are either too scared or don’t actually care, and when you question a cop right there when the antics happen you get dirty looks, and when you hoot and flash at the Taxi driver you get sworn at. What a sad state of affairs and a disgrace.
I think it might be worse in "Tshwane". What irritates me is when they switch on all flashing lights and leave it up to you to guess if he's going to turn left or right or if he's going to stop.
Okay, I hate this as much as everyone else but...I can't stop laughing! This is so ridiculous; and what's funnier is that most of us just go on with our day 5 minutes later when our car could have been dented 😠😂😂😂
Same to kenya matatu(publi means)drivers they do the same.reason they do that both SA nd Kenya public means drivers they rush for trips nd meant surtain cash targets for the owner of the taxi, matatu.
Imagine how much money the JMPD can make IF they apprehend this kind of driving - they worry about cell phones - they could really make money - either too scared or ............
I'm from cape town an i hate the taxis with a passion. Because they drive totally kak. But I agree on one thing. An that is using the emergency lane in peak hour traffic . It just makes sense. As long as you can give way to any emergency service if needed
