I had the same problem with the fuel tank, with the carby linkage, so put alloy tank in which sits lower, I say you could cut the lower rubber grommets so the plastic tank sits lower. I broke my pull starter cord trying to start the first time. I brought that wj71 reed block set up, but I will not put it on until I do a few runs on it. It would be good to see how yours run with the two speed.

I still kick my self today cuz I didn't wait for the reed my 35 is the 1.5 version not used it yet not had the money to buy the carb I need and few other things
That usually means it’s not getting fuel or it’s getting too much. You should check the plug after five or six poles and see if it’s wet. Once I put the Taylor easy starter on it I get a pop every time now👍🏼💯
@charlesbartlebaugh yep also crack the throttle when you pull it that helps as well. The 35 likes the throttle cracked just a bit💯 Mike Taylor made a video on it. I will probably do the same 👍🏼
