I'm starting to regain my faith in Sheffield made pocket knives due to these videos and the new generation of makers that appear to be coming through. "Sheffield England" is starting to have a value again.

This is my favourite carry knife. It’s not perfect, or even easy to use, but I just love it, because it’s so beautiful. This one is ram’s horn, but the mother of pearl one’s absolutely stunning! Unfortunately, I’m very attached to it; too much to trust it to Royal Mail, especially as it was a gift from my wonderful wife.

Absolutely understandable! Even if they recompensated you, it wouldn't be the one your wife bought you, must be a true treasure. Cheers! -Al

Good video :) I've seen 'Slicers previous Barlow vids. His channel is ace! I share his love for the design. Probably my favourite of any design, the clip point blade, the 'bulb-like' handle, the simplicity and tradition of it, absolutely love them. I'm not bothered about the disputed origins of the design, although the weight of evidence does suggest it was British, so I suppose it's a little more 'authentic' for us to be carrying one here in Blighty as our ancestors (probably) did. My only wish was that there was one built for tougher use and bigger hands. One with 3" cutting edge (or 2.9", to keep everyone legally happy) an oversized ricasso which would act as a choil, (Like the Tony Bose Lanny's Clip) a 3-4mm thick blade, super strong backspring and a handle that offers a full-palm, four finger grip. Ideally finished to the quality of the one in this video. I can dream. Anyway, top work, keep it up.

Thank you very much! Perhaps a custom order for Mr. White? Slick slicers and his channel are great, lovely gent! -Al

That sounds like a Grandaddy Barlow. Good luck finding one, but it’s something that does exist. All that being said, this is a pretty big Barlow. It’s significantly bigger than a Case, a Böker or a Rough Rider. I’m pretty sure RR did a Grandaddy at one time.

That pull tab is very interesting. My A. Wright & Son farmer's knife is also VERY difficult to open, so I'm going to put a pull tab on it. It sort of messes up the aesthetics of the knife and, like you said, could hinder some cutting, but the pull tab might make me carry the knife more often.

Great knife, I have a few Barlows from TEW. The handle material is rams horn incidentally. Keep the reviews coming.

If I could only keep one of my knives it would be this knife’s mother of pearl sister. From a user’s point of view, it is very flawed, but, just as a thing of beauty to own, these would be very, very hard to beat!

Agreed - you shouldn't need winch to open your pocket knife. I'm tempted to try one of these though, for no other reason than to convince me that at least one Sheffield knifemaker is making something of decent quality.

I had one of these from the same brand...... The spring spine snapped whilst opening the knife, it had only ever been used to cut paper

Hi! Great review mate! Just a question, is It more a collection piece or a daily use pocket knife? Is It comfortable un tour pocket?
@UKLegalCarryKnives
@UKLegalCarryKnives 4 года назад
I've no doubt this would be a fantastic user, it seems very robust although it's nice enough to be a collector's piece anyway, is fine in the hand and pocket, Slick Slicers has a more comprehensive review as he owns this

I found a couple website where Taylor's are sold. But I don't see any with that brass pull tab. Is that something that's sold separately?
@UKLegalCarryKnives
@UKLegalCarryKnives 4 года назад
Yes, the pull tab/ thumb bar was added on by slick slicers to aid opening, they aren't too expensive, an example can be found here: Thumb bar,hunting knives thumb stud,pack of 2 sets - 1" (Mix color) smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07HNSNWKQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_TJkqEbHDRWTER
