This franchise could go a decade or more. It's number 1 everywhere, we can all appreciate and at some level know the feelings the creators gave us in character form. I really hope Yellowstone does not stop at season 6 like planned. But if we're killing off characters at this rate we need new ones now too make this show be a long lived story.
I love Isabel's accent or narration she is is if not one of the best narrators of this show she speaks from the heart when she talks she sounds so authentic I can listen to her all day keep up the good work
I was emotionally tied to Elsa’s character in 1883 so hearing her narration on 1923 immediately tied my emotions to the next generation! ❤️. Instead of feeling like a whole new show, it actually feels like a continuation of first show.
She's buried on the land. She's the first Dutton buried there, so you can say it's her spirit that is narrating 1923. It makes for a perfect connection in bringing 1883 and 1923 together. Her brothers are still part of the story.
I was surprised to hear her voice too……but it’s sweet. As a girl who writes, it’s believable. As a girl from the south, there are soooo many dialects, so it’s ok.
l loved Elsa's voice in 1883 .lt seemed to be another character.l can't imagine 1883 without the narration.That's what drew you into the movie almost making you part of it.Same with 1923.l think Taylor Sheridan is quite the writer.l hope he continues to bring the old west storytelling.He does have a way with it and his passion is overwhelming.I could go forever but will choose to stop.Keep it coming Taylor!!! Elsa is wonderful! She brings together 1883 and 1923. Instead of being two separate series, she melds the two together. I love 1923! Elsa's narration would only make it better.
She was amazing as both the protagonist and narrator in 1883. It’s great to have her still connected to Yellowstone. She has such a young but sad sounding narration which fits with her gradual exposure to the harsh realities of life on the trails. Also her life and death both bless and haunt the Dutton family. It gave the family the beautiful paradise valley, but make it so each generation has to fight and can never leave the ranch because their loved ones are buried there.
Loved Elsa. I was so happy to hear her voice in 1923 and I thought it brought the two shows together. Some characters you always remember and Isabel May as Elsa is one if them. I still get tears in my eyes when I think of her and 1883.
Yes she should narrate 1923. I loved her character and I loved her voice. Everything about 1883 was done brilliantly. These people just want to have something negative to say about a great show. It’s called nit picking. This show and Yellowstone are the best shows out in long while. And 1923 is going to be another great show. Taylor Sheridan is the man!
It makes sense that Elsa narrates because where she does is where the Dutton family legacy begins. Elsa is the heart of the entire Dutton family legacy. It’s symbolic.

Elsa is the narrator because we all LOVE her voice. Her voice carries the story of the Duttons and resonates for all of us. Yeah, I love her voice and it brings to my mind soo many mindsets of her family unit. Their struggle. Their strength. Their continuity. (Isabel May should narrate 1923.)
I believe there IS a Spiritual significance to Elsa's voice in 1923... she married a Native husband and it was a covenant that I believe is unbroken to modern day!! I believe there is a very strong connection there and I think it should be her voice as the narrator l. Leave it as it is!!
1883 concentrating on Elsa is what ruined 1883 to me. I don't know it's just took me out of it it annoyed me. They could have had her story and still showing the struggle of the Caravan and the duttons and not it been the focal point
Yes I thought the others was great, and outperformed the girl by miles but she’s also young and learning. I think her voice felt perfect for the show and feel, and think she should do more of it.
I loved Elsa's narration in both 1883 & 1923. I was so disappointed when her character died. I'd like to see the actress show up again maybe in Yellowstone as yet another Dutton family member as her aunt did (only NOT a Dutton family member; but still one whose lifestyle was in opposition to the Duttons).
There are different Southern Accents. Some Accents have even changed through the South over the years. I doubt many of us are even that familiar with Accents of that time period.
Elsa's narration was brilliant and beautiful in 1883 & it doesn't matter that she died. It's haunting and moving to hear her voice in the beginning of each showing of 1923. Off point, but I'm disappointed in 1923, it's confusing. The characters are not as memorable. By the time the show returns in February Elsa should reintroduce the characters one by one, so the viewers can remember who they are.
I liked the character but her narration was awful in my opinion and brought the series down a notch for me. When I heard her narration in 1923 I rolled my eyes and I really hope it's not a regular thing. Why would she be the narrator to events that happened 40 years after her death? That's stupid. Regardless, I love the first episode of 1923.
Elsa voice in 1883 and in 1923 is one of the best thing in the shows, her voice is perfect to tell the story and it create a more deeper link between the 2 series ! People who complain about Elsa voice don't understand anything about the Yellowstone Universe or storytelling ! She is the beginning and the end of the ranch because of the prophecy !
It’s hard to enjoy this show when the narration is happening. The other parts are great, but it’s very annoying having a “dear diary” segment every episode. I get what’s going on and I have my own feeling as the plot unfolds. I don’t need it explained to me how to feel or what’s going on.
That’s bs. The gal who plays Elsa is a brilliant actor. I think it would be haunting to have her narrate all of them, including the ending of Yellowstone
Ok this comment is for the fans. If you don’t like her voice narrating that’s fine but don’t let get to you and the show of 1923. So far 1923 is very good and I don’t mind her narrating.
I don’t get it!?. All I’m seeing is people love her voice over and I thought it was the worst part of 1883. It got so annoying we got to a point of muting her at those points!. It was just a word salad every time and I don’t think it added to the story. We endured the last few episodes as it was to much.. I was so mad to find out that she’s narrating 1923 too.. 🙉
Contrary on what few said about the narrating of Elsa character it was great .: in 1883- ! The actor was marvelous as Elsa not sure what anyone complained about far as her southern accent .. I’m a southern gal and it was perfect ! Bottom line some have thicker accent than others and be in same family ./ and then when you settle out west as the Duttons do well kindA loose that . The. Pick up the more ranch hand country talk which similar to us southerners .. you have country southerners , then city snooty lol .. Sorry don’t know how else to say .. then you the ones we’ll just can’t speak proper English . Anyways, Great writing Great actors all the around for all sheridans shows
If you must replace Costner...why not use Sam Elliot? He would at least be an A lister actor that is Kevin's equal. for heavens sake if matthew gets the role I will not watch yellowstone anymore...and I absolutely love the show. The prequels are interesting but Yellowstone is addictive
