I am loving your band's music on Spotify 😊 I have a tip for dealing with Swift hate: if any of those gamer bros are Dad's, recommend her song "Never Grow Up". I've yet to fail making a dad bawl their eyes out at that song. For those who say she can't sing or do runs or belt, recommend the live Reputation Tour version of "Don't Blame Me". Then tell them all to get fked 😂
I love Folklore so much. Hearing the conversations with Jack is so interesting and a sneak peek into their history and talents, and what the song means to them. Fabulous. 👏🏻🥰
@@tejai13 aside from her pure talent, she has a way to turn feelings into masterpieces that touch everyone who needs to hear that they are not alone. It’s a huge reason why she is so incredibly loved the world over.
Taylor is considered a good singer with a vocal range of A2 - E6 (3 octaves 6 notes, thats 42 notes in total! ). It was D3- G5 (2 octaves 3 notes) when she started, but she since matured and has trained extensively. However, her octave range is just part of her vocal skill. Her ability to speak passion, sorrow, joy, pain and more into her songs gives them an emotional depth and presence that comes across to the listener in sound and emotion. Your ears hear it, your heart feels it. Taylor is ranked at 102 in Rolling Stone's The 200 Greatest Singers of All Time. She's right behind Gladys Knight and just ahead of Leonard Cohen and Aaron Neville and a slew of others you probably respect. Taylor ranks eighth on Greatest of All Time Artists-a Billboard list ranking music acts based on chart success-as the only 21st-century act in the top 15.
@@stefanor.1771I quoted their list of Greatest of All Time Artists, not greatest guitarists. Does anyone but Rolling Stone rank artists? They have been the definitive music mag since 1967. I don't agree with their list of best to worst T.Swift songs but these are just our opinions. They are the ones with a platform and huge industry influence.
They have to pander to the biggest acts to avoid a backlash, they even ask Beyonce, Taylor ecc..and the biggest producers for their opinion before making their list, it is true they have a say in the list. Of course they must be rewarded with top 100 entries. it is called marketing, if the biggest acts were not on the list Rolling Stones would struggle to sell it, because the fans would be pissed off.
@@AllTheArtsy so what do you listen to millionaires?you’re OK with that? She worked hard she made money like what do you want her to do not make money ? she’s generous with it that’s more than most billionaires can say in the world.
I started really paying attention to Taylor Swift during the pandemic when I listened to "Folklore" all the way through without stopping. I guess at 73 years old you can call me a Latter Day Swifty, and I'm enjoying the ride! Songwriter, singer, performer, designer/producer of videos and films. I also learned recently that she started training for the Eras Tour by running on a treadmill and singing all 44 songs she performs during each concert. Talk about breath control! You can also see the improvement of her singing over the years from album to album.
@@bonniejeanbrown7403 on youtube. There are only four posted here, and if you search for "grammy museum Taylor Swift" you'll probably find all of them. But in case you don't, these are the songs: Blank Space, Wildest Dreams, Out Of The Woods and How You Get The Girl
So she can sing, write, design great videos and sing 44 songs live without a break on tour. She is getting ready to play 6 soldout concerts in Singapore. She is amazing
as a singaporean, I feel bad for her to play 6 concerts straight here. I am happy that she gets to take a break before her next concert location but will miss her 💖
Her vocal is so overrated.she has not vocal😂 that's not singing. simply hitting notes, which each of us can do to a certain extent, some more, others less. But anyone can hit notes
I've played piano since I was a kid, and have a decent singing voice, but my brain ceases to function anytime i try to do both at the same time, so any musician who can sing while playing an instrument, and do it this well, gets an A+ in my grade book.
o no! So I am the pianist in my band and lead-singer, are you looking for any tips or help? If not no worries just figured I'd offer if I have an answer!
That's awesome! I can play guitar and sing at the same time. Left brain right brain. It takes a while to get used to. It's like patting your head and rubbing your belly at the same time. That's the best way to explain that.
I really don't know why people hate her so muuuuch, is frustrating. She is like the full package, she can: sing, play a lot of instruments, writes like nobody (there are courses in Universities about her writing), produces and directs. When I don't like something or someone, I just pass. Why people have the need to hate her so much? it doesn't makes sense, it would exhaust me. Love the sipping while trashing the haters jajajaja just for that you're a Swifty
The thing is, she absolutely has the ability to hit ridiculous high notes, belt, and do umpteen runs in a song if she wanted to. She's proven she can do that on countless occasions. She simply saves those elements for when they can really pack a punch in her storytelling. First and foremost, she is a songwriter and a storyteller, and that's why I respect her so much. Loved your reaction!!! Also, City of Sound's music is exactly my taste! I haven't heard a song I haven't liked. Are you going to be on Pandora anytime soon?
as a vocal coach I can also say her vocal technique NOW compared to 1989 tour is even better. She used to sound great in 1989 but now she has amazing vocal technique. Still sounds great in this video of course, but even better now.
I’m a Swiftie. Swifties don’t expect her to be Beyoncé. But she is one of the greatest songwriters, ever. And those songs came from her life and soul. Thank you for doing this. I did check out your music and it’s great. Folklore was my gateway drug to Taylor but if you like that listen to Evermore and check out the stripped down Pond Sessions. Also for something completely different check out Reputation and Midnights.
@@thinedgeit is crazy because Taylor doesn’t have anything that sounds like that ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1XgTKgsnrbI.htmlsi=onFgVCYCG3SKPwPZ
@@thinedge crazy because Beyonce has a vocal performance 14 years ago no mic and Taylor doesn’t have one of these ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1XgTKgsnrbI.htmlsi=onFgVCYCG3SKPwPZ
I love this song also. I didn’t become a “fan” until this past summer. When I saw the music video, I was shocked. I was actually shocked by how many songs I loved and had zero clue she sang! She’s awesome!
👍👍 Well said.👍👍 For the haters I always ask "have you EVER taken the time to actually listen to her music"? She's a brilliant writer that can paint a visual picture while putting her lyrics to her songs. She plays, acoustic, electric, 12 string guitar, banjo, ukulele & piano, She didn't win the National Poets Award at 13 for writing poorly and 14 Grammys because she can't sing. ❤ Stay safe
Taylor doesn't do vocal gymnastics and hold notes for ridiculous amounts of time or belt -- I believe this is what makes her so accessible to people of all ages, especially young ones because everyone can sing along with ease. We try to sing along with singers who do a lot of runs and holding high notes -- but we don't sound as good doing it. A whole stadium singing a Taylor song with her sounds great.
Rumor has it that she trained for the Eras tour, by singing all 44 songs while running on a treadmill for the full 3.5 hours. She is a beast. If you watch any live performance from that tour, you will see her dance & sing & when the song is over, she is not huffing & puffing, at all.
You can be successful without a record label! My musician friend charted on Billboard 4x (two songs charted twice!) last year and got serious radio play without a label. Tommy Marz. His song ‘15’ and ‘Never Look Back’. And his song ‘15’ has over a million streams on Spotify (I don’t have Spotify so I think I remember that stat correctly). So you CAN do it even in today’s horrible music industry. Nice guy too and I am proud to call him my friend. 😊
i'm a huge swiftie, i'm going to stream your friend's music and share among my swiftie friends too. congrats to your friend for his success. wish him all the luck.
Dude...I can see you really appreciate Taylor's music, do yourself a favor...listen to her song False God, or her song Carolina ...figure out a way to get the Swifties to your site, they will appreciate you...by the way...you are right...f- them...wow...❤ your song
I agree. He needs to start doing more Taylor because he and the band deservers to be seen more. The Swifties will love him and the band. He's not a fake reaction channel and deservers more viewers because he truly loves Taylor.
@@khills I can see how it can be taken that way but he's been fighting people in all his other video on Taylor about her vocals and talent. It really pisses him off when people talk badly about her and her craft. They drag him on sm about her and it really gets to him because he really appreciates her art and likes her music. If you haven't watch his other video's on Taylor definitely give it a look. They're great.
People need to realize that music is art and unique to that person. The way they sing, their lyrics and personal experiences. Taylor is unique in her own way and that is what makes her music beautiful.
I love your reactions, you're real and your expressions are quite entertaining. I'm also voting for you to do Folklore (Long Pond Sessions) The songs on the album are amazing yes, but there is something incredible watching her preform them, her emotion shows through so strongly. On a side note, also I am enjoying your music, added to the library to explore more! Thank you!
I love the way you defend taylor. This is what the swifies have been saying for years. Somehow people love to hate or criticise taylor and that is why the swifies is so protective. And sometimes called crazy
I admit, I was kinda surprised this wasn’t the song you were gonna cover, cuz I know how much you love Wildest Dreams. But also, honestly and selfishly? If you wanna grow City of Sound a little uhm… non organically? Start consistently releasing Taylor Swift reaction videos (continuing the band appeal at the end). And be honest about what you wanna stay independent! Remember that most people don’t understand the predatory contracts from record labels; hell, most Swifties don’t understand, even after everything around the masters. Hell, for that matter, if you wanna bring your expertise to the table: start breaking down some of her bridges and explain WHY they work so well - I recently saw someone explain why Cruel Summer (hahahaa just got to her clear bell belting at the end and your deadass straight stare look at the camera) was designed as a summer hit, and why they could be so confident it would have been a hit (without the pandemic), and it was SO interesting. I’d love to see you sitting at the piano and picking out her bridges and why they’re interesting, powerful, the role they have in songs - we don’t have a lot of reactors going into that kind of depth, or explaining what makes the structure of songs work. (We have a sfx videographer explaining how they do the music videos, we have producers explaining…producer-y things…we have a Brit who cries at the drop of the hat at, well bless Luke, anything…we have vocal coaches explaining her voice’s strengths, weaknesses, and how she’s grown…we have metalheads and rap fans reacting, etc. But AFAIK, we don’t have anyone breaking down her music from a lead singer, writing the songs POV.) Also, off the Taylor topic: the speaking bit in Andromeda reminds me a lot of Jane Siberry’s speaking bit at the start of It Can’t Rain All the Time, from The Crow soundtrack. Yes, I’m old and I’d bet $10 that like Tori Amos, you don’t you don’t know singer or the song. 😝 Go listen to it; it’ll hit you in the feels. 😉
THIS. please. any insight into the bridge or hook or anything. take us to school and follow it up with your music. "I for One" is my favorite so far. Added you on Spotify and iTunes
I have no problem with people that don’t enjoy Taylor’s music (even if I don’t understand why). Not everyone has to like her but what bothers me is when people start using completely false facts to back up why they don’t like her. ‘She can’t sing’, ‘all her songs sounds the same’, ‘she only writes songs about breakups’ like that’s just not true and is easily disproven? Just say she’s not for you and move on, you don’t have to drag her and her fans down in the process.
❤ I really enjoyed this; there are just some people who have to kick the tall poppies down to make themselves feel better. It’s just sad and I am glad you call them out. Also your outro song was great.
Love your videos and your music! If you like folklore, it’s worth checking out the long pond studio sessions, the arrangements really show off the album and her voice
I love your fierce defense of her bc you KNOW the craft. She has worked hard on technique over the years, and it has only gotten better since this video. Your voice is amazing, too! So good!
Taylor has definitely put in the work to be as good as she can. She also does everything people say they want and still gets hate. It's so weird. Here she is singing well, playing her own instruments, writing her own songs, etc. You'd think she'd at least get respect for that.
Loved this reaction but I want to talk about your song at the end. Wow it made me a little emotional. Made me think of my kids. Everything in the world seems so dire and I’m so scared of what the future looks like for them. “I see the hope for the future right here” as I have their faces in my mind’s eye-made me cry! Thanks for giving me a little bit of hope for the future this morning.
I’m not a Swifty, and before a few months ago, I wouldn’t have known a Taylor Swift song from a nursery rhyme. But being a life-long Chiefs fan, she’s been difficult to ignore these past few months, and some of her songs have come more prominent in my radar. While nota huge fan, I can honestly say, I see no reason to put her down. She’s able to adapt to many genres of music, she listens to her fans, she’s an extremely generous person. She may have a few flaws, but who doesn’t. While I don’t listen to a lot of her stuff, I do agree with this guy, she works hard at her craft, and cares enough to do it well.
1st: that title had me upset! I knew you’d totally come through for us. Thank you so much. 😂 2nd: I created a Spotify account just for City of Sound when you first released it and showed the behind the scenes footage. Love the song, you look and sound phenomenal. I’m so incredibly happy for your success! It’s only going to get better from here. You’ve certainly put in the blood, sweat, tears (and every last dollar) into making your dreams a reality. Well done!! 🥳🤗🫶🏼👏🏻 3rd: Taylor is a lyrical genius and has a range that she continues to expand and explore. I’m a huge fan of hers and really enjoy the videos that she produces, directs, writes and sings. Yep, she’s the real deal. There’s so many people on this platform that STILL say “that’s Taylor Swift?” While looking at her female form through wide open fingers barely covering their eyes. “I still picture her with long curly hair, cowgirl boots and a brown guitar, singing with a twang.” It’s like, sure, that’s when she was 15 years old! She’s 34 years old and a full grown woman. Amazing what 19 years of practice does for a determined person like Taylor. It almost seems they’re scared to look at this attractive woman without feeling as if they’re guilty of a sin. 🙄🙈 Ugh. It’s just frustrating because she has a fabulous voice and personality to match it. If only people would stop listening to others and just listen to her for themselves. ❤ Ok. Novel over. Have a fantastic day! 😂🎉
loved the song at the end, added it to my library🫶 also idk why but my brain is having a hard time processing that you're the one singing, like it sounds so different from your talking voice! would love to see a long pond studio sessions reaction or something of the sort :)
I found your channel because of your Taylor videos - please also listen to/include Evermore re Taylor’s songwriting, they’re sister albums - as a swiftie even I slept on Evermore a bit at first 😅 and Midnights!
This performance makes me cry. There are singers with more supposed "vocal ability" that wear me out in like five mins --Beyonce, Christina Aguilera. Taylor has a beautiful instrument, and she paint pictures -not only with her lyrics, but with her tone. She is a master at wielding her vocal palate to let you know exactly how she's feeling and bringing you into it. I wish more vocal coaches would use her vocal stylings as a teaching tool.
I'm from Philippines and we are known for having great singing voices, while I agree that the most of Filipinos do have that quality, I rarely listen to Filipino singers in general regardless if they're Beyonce level with singing. IMO, Being a good singer doesn't measure on how high you can belt, its about connecting to the listener. Taylor does that extremely well and she doesn't have to belt to do that. Granted she's not Adele or Beyonce, but she can sing very well and her voice is so unique. I think the haters should stop honestly its quite embarrassing for them really, seeing the same "reason" for hating her over and over is just exhausting. Like gurl shut up.
People saying she can’t sing are stuck in 2009.. if her tone is not their PREFERENCE that’s different but objectively she is on key and using breath support… she can sing and is good at it. Then add her story telling, emotion, and ability to play musical instruments on top of it BAM SUPERSTAR
john kruk once said 'i am not an athlete. i am a baseball player'. ts is not a singer. ts is far, far more than that. singing is just a small part of the overall human that is her. and she loves life and values life and lives life so much she would not waste a single moment of it on you, much less using a moment to put you down.
I just bought the "Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions" Vinyl for a shitload of money, because it's feckin' awesome. These acoustic versions of the Folklore songs are so great. Her voice really shines there and it makes the lyrical content of the songs even better. She is a hell of a songwriter in my opinion and I come from a rock/metal background. My heroes are normally guys like Lemmy, Ozzy, Maynard,....
I know someone who worked as a food vendor at a stadium TS played at. After the first hour, they weren't really busy so the staff each took turns walking up to the stage and listening to Taylor. She was not per say a fan of Taylor's before but she said Taylor can really sing!!! She was impressed with her performance and said her voice and she put on a heck of a show, Now this friend has had the good forttune of seeing a lot of concerts as a stadium vendor and she said Taylor was by far one of the best she's seen.
If you like folklore you should listen to evermore if you haven’t already it has a lot of similarities songwriting wise! Love your videos and your band btw! Keep up the good work!
Her vocals sounded stronger and more confident around this era indeed, but if you want to hear her vocal prowess while still putting on the emotions and with just her and her guitar, I highly suggest you watch her Cornelia Street Live From Paris performance as it still remains as one of her best acoustic performances to this date, though I think it is an underrated performance within the fandom 💓
Taylor is an amazing songwriter who singing has matured as she has progressed over the years. The live vocals on The Eras Tour have been amazing! All while dancing, being emotionally vulnerable & interacting with the crowd. A smart business woman, director & a generous & kind human too! 😊
If you do a series on folklore you have to do one on evermore as well. She’s folklores sister album, a little more pop to the production but still very underrated and the focus of the Album is the storytelling and lyrics.
You'd probably love her live performance of Lover in Paris (used to be on Disney + but now you can find clips on RU-vid) or her Long Pond Sessions of Folklore (on Disney+)
I also love wildest dreams. This is in my top 10 and I'm familiar with Taylor's entire discography. It's so dreamy and I love the sampling of Taylor's heartbeat in it. Also you're definitely a swiftie. You don't have to hear her entire discography. If you respect her and like her music you're a swiftie. Welcome to the fandom. Also Taylor's vocals have gotten so much stronger over the years. Her work ethic is admirable. She's constantly trying to improve herself and her quality as a singer/songwriter and performer.
People need to learn the difference between "She can't sing" or "She has no talent" and "I don't prefer her type of performance or music". They are vastly different.
