It's how different people interpret it that's how art works and artists don't like to disclose much about a work of art except for something brief like theme. I’m 14 and I relate too. Literally all of them 😭 especially all too well- I met her on the stairs (it sounds weird) and we have a huge gap With unabashed joy and unrestrained delight, to burst forth into hearty laughter, resonating throughout the surroundings with mirthful exuberance. Obviously this song was written about someone, but what she said is actually pretty truthful and this is one of Taylor's major talents which makes her connect with people, is her ability to tap into the collective and relate to the times, and also reflect what's going on in the broader world and how that psychologically influences people. She's an amazing writer who has a real grasp on language and how it can be used to comfort, empower and bring people together.

I write poems... So the thing with poems and song writing is the story doesn't really need to be ours. As an artist that’s epitope of success when people sing along to your songs and relate to it. Who cares who she thought of when she wrote the song, could be an ex, could be combination of exes, could be fictional… it’s called inspiration, and art. No one would have asked JK Rowling who she thought of when she wrote about Prof Snape or Lord Voldermort.
