Wait, is this your first time listening to the folklore/evermore era??? Well, down the rabbit hole you go! Enjoy it, because it's the best two album run that she has EVER done.
Please check out more from Folklore (Long Pond Studio Sessions)! The entire album was written during the pandemic and was a drastic change from her previous albums. I love the vibes!
You are the typical ignorance type of person who says that oh Taylor is not my taste of music without even listening to one album of hers. I don't know why people dogh this with Taylor. Then they jump in and go down that rabbit hole of Taylor, and she just sucks you in with her genius songwriting and storytelling. She has 3 albums full of this style. Folklore, Evermore, and the Anthology part of the torchered poets department double album.
A long time ago Taylor did 2 songs for The Hunger Games "Safe and Sound" and "Eye Open". Safe and Sound is more like this, and Eyes Open is more rockish, Both songs are phenomenal. Carolina is a song she did for the movie "Where the Crawdads Sing" a couple of years ago and is also along the same vein. One thing you should know, on folklore, there is a teenage love triangle, 3 songs, Cardigan (there is a MV), August, and Betty. Cardigan is from the POV of Betty, August is the POV of the other woman (Taylor refers to her as Augustine), and Betty the POV of James. Fun fact in the song Betty the 3 names James, Inez, and Betty are the names of Ryan Renolds and Blake Lively's 3 daughters, when this came out the world didn't know the name or sex of their 3rd baby, and this is how they chose to do it, they are friends of Taylor's. In fact, in Taylor's Reputation album the song Gorgeous, James's voice is at the beginning of the song saying gorgeous. During a visit to Taylor's place in R. I. Taylor sang the song for them and James kept saying gorgeous afterward, Taylor loved it and asked to use her voice, pretty sure James got a paycheck. Most of the songs are made up with a few that are about her life, Marjorie (from evermore) is about her maternal grandmother and epiphany (folklore) is about her paternal grandfather. My Tears Ricochet is about her record label selling her first 6 albums out from under her, I am telling you these things so you will be able to navigate through these 2 albums that are masterpieces, she released these 5 months apart and dropped the whole albums at one time, she calls them sister albums. I hope this doesn't make your head explode or put you off. Also, Taylor's other albums have lots of hidden gems in them, you probably only heard the ones on the radio. At the beginning were you talking to cats or dogs?
If you like this style, you would probably like Carolina, the rest of the Long Pond Studios sessions, and a lot of the Anthology portion (second half) of the tortured poet’s department.
honestly the entire album of Folklore and even Evermore is all Folk music. Folklore is def my fav album of hers so I would love to see you react to more of this album!
The whole point about reacting to the Long Pond versions is that you get to hear her explanation beforehand, which you didn’t play. ??? Anyway, she explains that she didn’t have an affair. But she wanted to write a song from that perspective for once.
there is 2 (pretty much 3 now, if you wanna count the sound of TTPD the anthology) albums of this vibe! you should def check out folklore, evermore and the anthology of TTPD
Honestly (and please reserve the judgment here and raised eyebrows 😂😂) I'm no "swifty" or whatever they call themselves. As a metal-head and one who has opened his mind to other genres.... I actually thought this song was really really good. Definitely adding it to a "chilled-vibes" Playlist
There is much more of "this" type of Taylor Swift. Like, 60 songs more :) I wasn't a fan either (I actually literally hadn't known any of her songs except "Romeo and Juliet") until I discovered her indie-folk albums made during the pandemic. Also her last two albums are not bad - much more synthy and popsy (is that a word) than folksy (although there are some indie/folk sounding songs) but not the pop she used to do when she was in her teens and 20s - more like Lana Del Rey sort of thing musically and lyrically much more mature and serious. I think she needs a collaboration with some very dark, depressing guy to make a perfect album. Thom Yorke of Radiohead maybe.
It's from her folklore album. Which is an album of...... Folktales. ie: made up stories that typically include a life lesson and are passed down from one generation to the next. And I daresay any other songs you've heard and thought were about her being "promiscuous" 🙄 were probably the ones written as a satirical response to the nonsense posted about her by the tabloid media (blank space is probably the most famous one of these)
Folklore and evermore are mostly made-up songs, and definitely for adults, there are plenty of he/she cheated and done did me wrong songs in the country music genre for decades.
