I love that, in the space of a little more than 24 hours, Taylor very gently debunked the two most harebrained TS theories- Karma (as a lost album) and Gaylor. Queen shit 💅
@@amberd854 of course, and the fact that all her public relationships have been with men also indicates that she’s straight, or would like to be publicly perceived as straight.
@@elenagerhardy2636 she literally said after being asked why she was advocating for lgbtq+ rights that she, and I quote, didn't realise until recently that she could advocate for a community she was not a part of. not a part of. meaning she is not lgbtq+.
@@amberd854 i genuinely thought it was just speculation so i could see why gaylors were speculating (obviously saying anything like that that harms anyone is not okay in any circumstance so i’m not defending that), but i never realized that she’s actually outright said “i’m straight” in any capacity but now that i do know that i’m so much more ready to shut down gaylors :) thanks for the info!
Before the video comes out I wanted to say thank you Zack for constantly being on the pulse of what Taylor is up to and keeping us fellow Swiftologists up to date on all the tea! We love you ❤️
I’m wondering if Snow on the Beach will build on all the sea/nautical imagery on Evermore… “my waves meet your shore ever and evermore” “guilty guilty reaching out across the sea you put between you and me” “I’m on waves out being tossed” “Eyes like sinking ships on waters” “I’m like the water when your ship rolled in that night” etc etc. and there are more! I feel like she uses this theme to comment on The Cancellation™️ and falling in love during it etc so it’ll be interesting to see if SOTB is about the same subject matter or something else entirely. Insightful commentary as always, ty!!
taylor swift and lana del rey are both among the greatest songwriters of this century and now both of them will be in one song can you imagine the collapse????? im not fucking ready😭😭😭
I can't hear 'Labyrinth' without thinking Bowie and I would actually scream if we got some of his psychedelic and glam sort of sound on that track I also love your break down of Sweet Nothing - that's one I also had trouble picturing but the way you describe it really fits I also think Question is going to be very short and almost like an interlude between the 2 sides
There is a difference between sweet nothings and sweet nothing, I believe. Sweet nothings imply sweet little expressions you say to your lover. Sweet nothing implies just that…nothing, or insincere words.
I loveeee that you mentioned “Sweet nothing” vs. the more common phrase “sweet nothings” classic fountain pen modification of a common phrase! I also really liked your prediction for it-would love if she dived into feeling like a sweet nothing/her whole good girl complex thing. My initial reaction was that it sounded like an unhappy relationship that looks nice on the surface (*cough* Calvin Harris *cough*) like you have all these cute pictures but there’s just a nothingness underneath. Honestly the title is so intriguing that idc if I’m completely wrong!
she has referred to her albums as jewels twice now- my tears ricochet and the bracelet. so im guessing its probably about her first album? like her first jewel and how that made her feel? or obviosuly bout scott. could be about something entirely different but idk y i have a feeling it's gonna be bout her debut. also cus there are already titles that allude to being about the masters situation as of now and she has said it's about 13 sleepless nights scattered across her life so i dont see 2-3 songs being bout the same situation.
I feel like the only time that she came really close to talking about the re recordings and Scooter with more blatancy was in “It’s Time To Go”. I feel like this song gets over looked since it was a bonus butttttt it gives me chills and cuts right into my heart. Very relatable on so many levels. “Fifteen years, fifteen million tears Begging 'til my knees bled I gave it my all, he gave me nothing at all Then wondered why I left Now he sits on his throne in his palace of bones Praying to his greed He's got my past frozen behind glass But I've got me” I cannot wait to see how she will call him out in any way. The classy pettiness is astounding!! I’m super excited about Lavender Haze, Bejeweled, and Labyrinth…These track titles stood out to me. Obviously Snow on the Beach…that’s just a given!!Hail Queen!!!! 🙌🏼
I like your idea for Sweet Nothing! My first thought was something similar to The Way I Loved You. Like 'this person I'm with is super sweet but I'm not feeling anything deeper'
If you look closely, in the video where she announces Bejweled, she's wearing a similar sweater to one that Sadie wears in the all too well short film, and we also have the lyric "a never needy ever lovely jewel" so I think it might be related to that?
I literally screamed when I heard about the Taylana collab... I don't know if I'm emotionaly ready for it! I also don't know if I can handle a new track 5...Im gonna be a wreck on release day! 😅 Great video!
my instinctual feeling about bejeweled was the exact opposite of yours lol. it sounds VERY bitter/accusatory to me. i just can't imagine taylor describing herself as "bejeweled" unironically, she would pick a better word. i feel like it has to be about someone who hurt her and the way they might flaunt their wealth (by bejeweling themselves). i'm excited regardless of what it's about, track 9s tend to be some of her best!
I recently learned that there is a Calvin Harris's song called sweet nothing, which kinda supports the theory of it being about the night she won grammy for 1989!
Ok, before I see this I'm just going to say what my very first thoughts were when seeing the tracklist all in order... It looks like a possible chronological narrative of her side of everything from the beginning of her career to now, I think possibly reflecting on her own image and emotions... 1. Lavender Haze - The start of her career when everything was too good to be true, living in a haze 2. Maroon - Going from being on top of the world and experiencing this first love, fiery, passionate, Red... Then everything goes dark... more like maroon... plus it connects to track 2 on Red being Red 3. Anti-Hero - Taylor went through a tough time for a while before her conflict with Kanye... She was beginning to see the cracks with her record label, her parents went through their divorce, she had been done dirty by every guy she dated, and then attacked by the media for it and painted as if there was something wrong with her bc she couldn't keep a man and was a serial dater = slutty 😔 All this at an age when you really start getting a feel for the world and it had to have hurt so bad, made her realize all her heros weren't what she thought, or possibly she could be referring to herself as the anti-hero 🥺 4. Hopefully about running away to her RI Mansion (about 45 minutes from Meee 🤩🥳 it's amazing, and in such a gorgeous little town and beach, that's the thing she has to be drawn to, for sure!) 5. You're on your own, Kid - moving to New York? 6. Midnight Rain - I'm thinking this is when everything really fell apart and maybe there was a particular night when she knew it was imploding and it was raining 😭 6. Question...? - Self exile - Questioning everything 7. Vigilante Shit - Reputation - Enough said 8. Bejeweled - Coming out on top - Shining/Bejeweled 9. Labyrinth & 10. Karma- I'm thinking are connecting maybe... And we all know what our thoughts are on Karma! 11. Sweet Nothing - Joe - Sweet nothings keeping her up in the night 💚 13. Mastermind - (first off - ending on her number) She's the puppet master - Always in control of E V E R Y T H I N G in every way... Her career is what it is because she has made it that way, and then some "dummies" tried to steal it from her so she yanked their strings and showed them who's the MASTERMIND! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Obviously this could all be wrong, or partially right, but this was my first gut reaction.... Thoughts?
I really hope that vigilante shit is about her regretting bad blood/canceling Katy. Something along the lines of her feeling like she was a vigilante at the time, but regrets it now.
Has anyone mentioned Taylor potentially being inspired by Maggie Rogers putting out Notes From The Archive in Dec of 2021 before putting out her second album Surrender. Looking back before going forward
Lavender Haze - how past loves (romantic, platonic, business relationships) have blinded her to what is actually right in front of her. Maroon - in between purple and red? The conclusion of the first chapter of her career of mainly country music after Speak Now questioning her artistry then moving to her "transitional" album Red. Anti-Hero - using people in her life to create art that people relate to yet make some look bad. Snow on the Beach - didn't know about the 1989 AOTY isolation she felt, but now I think this would be a good place for that. You're on Your Own, Kid - period immediately following her disappearance (snakegate?) from the media after 1989 which Rep didn't touch on specifically. Midnight Rain - Joe Question...? - wondering if fans will still aceept her. Vigilante Shit - most excited for this one. It's giving bad bitch energy. I'd guess it's about how she has stood up for herself and artist's rights. Bejeweled - fairweather friends Labyrinth - music being the one thing that leads to her escape Karma - I kind of want you to be wrong because that would be great to see your reaction. My guess is it's about her success after the purchase of her masters. Sweet Nothing - no clue. Death Mastermind - being the one in control of her life As you can tell, I really want this album to follow some chronological order
Not that she is throwing shade to Calvin Harris but is it a coincendence that Sweet Nothing is track 12. His song Sweet Nothing feat Florence Welch was released Oct 12, 2012. Is it possible this track of Taylor's refers to a sleepless night when she dated Calvin or right after the breakup?
omg our bejeweled predictions are so different. i think it might be of a sad/unpleasant situation/feeling/person that she "bejeweles" to basically gaslight herself into thinking it's something valuable and beautiful. but i do think it's gonna be an upbeat smash pop hit im so excited
Between lavender haze and anti-hero, I feel like this album is very introspective (it's about sleepless nights after all), and I can't wait to see her thoughts on her own fame and the struggles it comes with.
I love your videos! I'm a new swiftie and I'm just so enchanted by Taylor's way of telling stories through her writing, I love hearing your thoughts on her and her songwriting, and at the same time learning so many new things about her :) your videos are so interesting to watch, keep it up! also screaming and crying about snow on the beach, I CANT WAIT!!!! love from singapore ❤
I think that snow on the beach could possibly be about the rampant drug use in celebrity circles, Beach as in California? Lana has mentioned drug use in several songs. Whatever the song is about I’m absolutely psyched for the collaboration!!!
"You're on Your Own Kid"....I hear "don't call me kid, don't call me baby", but obviously that can't be a connection...right???? "Midnight Rain", going with your theory could be something similar to "Clean" like I've put that behind me, let's move on....."Labyrinth" makes me think of "And I snuck in through the garden gate, Every night that summer just to seal my fate" Like you said the Labyrinth leads to something/one so maybe what she went through to make the relationship with Joe go or sustain it...."Karma" does feel like it could be Rep era sound...As usual, I think you've knocked it out of the park and I know you are burnt out, but we LOVE your content! I think I'm going to claim Midnight Rain.. I love the imagery it brings to mind...we'll see
I think bejewweled is about m and surrounded by all of her great achievements ( being « bejewelled » by her success ) or a confident bop about being dressed beautifully on the red carpet ( after all it’s a sleepless night )
Based on titles alone, I claim Lavender Haze and Snow on the Beach, because I love lavender and there's something about the phrase "Snow on the Beach." Maybe it reminds me of my beloved "tis the damn season," idk.
I have no thoughts about how Snow on the Beach will sound sonically, but I suspect it will be lyrically *very* strong. I think that because Taylor respects Lana so much, she did something similar to what she did with Imogen Heap and Clean- rock up with a fully formed, fantastic song that Imogen just needed to produce and find the right sound for. But I think Lana will definitely get to sing a verse (like Phoebe Bridgers, unlike Imogen Heap).
I thought I had, Sweet Nothing is also song by Calvin Harris, could it be a "this is what you came for" moment, where she wrote part of the song/ had a different concept for the song that he ignored? And, what do you think we will get next? do you think the sped up release of midnight mayhem was only because of the leak, or that she will give us something else before the 21st?
So interesting. I’m picturing the exact opposite. That it will not be cohesive and linear and that it will be very metaphorical. I think she tries to not have songs with similar tempos back to back to avoid mingling of songs and sounds and will apply again to this album. It seems to be what she does. I think she has explained the ones that are very meaningful and that she doesn’t want people assigning different analyses to them esp if worried people would imply things about her relationship with Joe by mistake.
There might be other collabs according to leaks 2 female artists maybe featured on album Other artists maybe featured on remixes of anti hero amd vigilante shit Maybe vigilante shit featuring katy perry
Taylor knows there's younger people she's influencing on each album. I highly doubt she'd put a song about usage ever with this massive scrutiny coming her way. When I googled Lavender Haze, a form of unregulated mary jane popped up with pictures of it on screen. I'm also thinking besides addressing the weird rumors upfront, it also defused about people claiming it's about weed or related to Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze, big in acid culture.
Me being wild here but just want to beg the question - could snow on the beach be a double entendre to a bag of adult “snow” since we know lana has explored that theme in song before? 😈
You're growing fast😍, I'm so happy for you but ngl at the same time I'm worried that as long as you keep growing, more annoying swiffers will intrude into our secret little swiftologists community😭.
