Taylor Swift is headed back to the big screen in The Giver, out August 15. The Grammy winner is known for writing hit-after-hit by drawing inspiration from her feelings for her boyfriends, and ex-boyfriends.
I was watching the giver on Netflix. I wasn't expecting my girl to be in the movie and when rosemary popped up, I nearly legit passed out and cried at the same time. I was silently screaming.
SPOILER Taylor's character DOES HAVE EMOTIONS she went in to be the new reliever of memory and she had to take in all of the memories from her dad (the former receiver aka the giver) and she ends up releasing herself (killing off) because 5 weeks of the memories destroyed her so she obviously felt pain.
Do you know that Jonas' Grandfather is the Giver? Cause The Giver had the ability to HEAR beyond and Jonas had the ability of SEEING beyond, but at the end of the book it said," across the vast distances of space and time, I thought I heard music, too. But perhaps it was only an echo." Something like that. But maybe Jonas got to hear music from his traits, from The Giver. And, it didn't say anything about The Giver giving him memories of music but he said he wanted to, but then Jonas said to keep it for himself because it was fading away and it was the last scraps of that memory. Oh! And because in the book, The Giver randomly gave him memories of grandparents and family and love, but mainly grandparents cause thats what Jonas did'nt understand. So, Jonas might be Rosemary's son.
Everyone please stop it. the character that Taylor is playing inquires her to have brown hair which means wearing a wig. she is a very good singer and actress because she was able to be " emotionless"
(SPOILERS) This isn't to say I'm a Taylor Swift fan. But to be fair, if you say her character was emotionless, it was because Rosemary only trained for one month with the Giver before she (to put it gently) resigned being the Receiver of Memories. So she was trying to portray an innocent character who had some emotions, but not as much as the ones Jonas developed for nearly a year.
noemistephanie93 Taylors character is not supposed to be attractive and pretty. She looks fine in brown hair she's not supposed to be this goddess with flowing long blonde hair.
"The Giver 2" - Ideas so far. Jonas enters the house were they are singing carols. The people greet him and he stands at the back of the room watching as the singing finishes and they hand out presents. He is told that society is slowly recovering somewhat, but there are bad things still in the world. At the compound there is chaos as people start encountering their emotions. The Giver, meanwhile, is taken to the 'Place of Repose' where he is shown the body of the founder of the community which is frozen. The president (Meryl Streep) said they were instructed to push certain buttons if the community ever came into trouble. She pushes them, and a host of needles are plunged into the leader, who recovers over the next few days. The giver is also shown Rosemary's body, who is then resucitated also. Jonas returns to the compound to see if he can now lead them back into society, but he will encounter a new struggle with the resucitated founder. He becomes friends with Rosemary. The founder takes Jonas aside and tells him of an old wager. Who could rule the world. His wife established, on the other side of the world, a corresponding compound. When a certain time came to pass, both of them would be resucitated (although it has happened early for the founder) and would compete for reclaiming the world. As they decide to now do that anyway, towards the end of the second movie they encouter forces of power from the rival compound. And that is how the second movie ends.
I love love love that Taylor was in the movie but the way they present rosemary as emotionless is so wrong! If anything she had some of the most emotion in the book, she was “released” because of it but i guess I can see why they perceive her this way in this. Also you should watch it and read the book I prefer the book but both give a amazing insight. 💕💕🙏🏽
*spoilers* actually Taylor’s character does have emotion, a to much actually, if you read the book you would know that rosemary (Taylor’s character) was training to be the the next receiver. a receiver is when all the memories that were in the community that the giver was storing in his mind, he is supposed to transfer all the memories into rosemary, but after 5 weeks she couldn’t handle it and ended up releasing herself (essentially TW: committing suicide).
Saw this scene in class yesterday, everyone kept asking “is that Taylor Swift?” and my teacher was like “YES” 😂 Idk why but to me she looks like Lorelai Gilmore with this hairstyle Edit- SPOILERS!! she does have emotion, the whole backstory of Rosemary (the character Taylor plays) is that when she received memories from The Giver (the character’s father) he only gave her happy memories for a while. He knew he had to give her painful memories at some point, but when he did it was too much to bear for her and after 5 weeks of training she decided to release herself (if you want to know what that means you can look it up, I’m not going into detail I don’t want to get flagged) “Emotionless” isn’t correct at all, kinda makes me annoyed. It’s obvious they didn’t read the book which is fine but like DONT SAY SHES EMOTIONLESS
I went to see this movie cuz taylor swift was in it! So I wait patiently and boom, finally in the middle of the movie she shows up for a minute or 2 and that was it for the rest of the movie! wTf?!?! It wasn't even enough time for her to sing about whining or bitching about an ex boyfriend or her enemies ( the one who shall not be named).
If you read the book (which it doesn't sound like you did) you would know that Rosemary only has two parts in the book as well. Rosemary is quite a big character just doesn't have very many scenes. You should have seen it coming.
OMG guys she's not the main character so get over it! I mean the movie was great and all with her but you guys shouldn't be whining about Taylor Swift not being in there a lot. Plus, Rosemary is only supposed to have a few parts and for those of you who don't understand this movie, maybe you should read the book first. Just saying...
Well.. kind of the bond that they made well the Giver giving her the memories.. made the Giver love her more as a daughter. And don’t know if I explained it that good but I hope I helped you out.😊
wait what o.o she is in the movie? i love the book but the movie either sucks because they got a lot wrong or this channel is just not well informed about the story
