Why doesn't she just start her own music streaming service and keep all the money? She must be rich enough by now to afford to do that. And why does she sell her records/CDs through Big Machine Records with distribution by Universal? I think she's just naive really. Oh well, I'm sure the other artists who make deals with music streamers won't mind not having her as competition. Without her dominating the market like she does in the record industry maybe somebody else can actually make some money from their work. I don't know how fair the payments would be, probably not very fair, especialliy from Apple, but if not many people are buying your actual records then these services may be another possible income source. If you already sell enough records, like Tayor, then I guess you don't need streaming services. Good for her. Everybody ain't Taylor Swift though.

Taylor Swift is smart as hell. She obviously has a lot of control over her music. She's also riding hard for Tidal cuz she's pretty much exclusively available through them.

Apple isn't paying people for the three months they are offering their apple music trial for free. Meanwhile artists are getting streams of their music during that period of time on apple music. She's saying, Apple should pay the artists for those streams, and it's not fair that artists have to go without royalties because Apple wants to give it away for free for three months. Think of any one hit wonder who has one hit in them. They might have a short window where they are popular. If they get the majority of their streams when Apple is offering it for free then they don't get any benefit or revenue for their streams. Think about a big hit out today that NO ONE plays a year from now. Is it going to be streamed to any degree when it's no longer popular? So then, swift is standing for artists, not just herself, who are entitled to get the royalties apple owes them for streaming on apples service. The sole issue is Apple making the artists forgo royalties because Apple wants to give away three months of the service for free. Apple is the biggest company in the world right now. If Apple wants to promote this service, shouldn't they pay the royalties and not make the artists suck up the costs?
