I don’t know if she was knowledgeable enough of the industry at that point to realize the significance. Teenagers signing legally binding contracts doesn’t really sit right with me.
@@Amanda6532her parents would have needed to sign off on the deal too when during the first contract with Big Machine. By this point, she would have definitely understood that she was not the legal owner of the rights to her music. Taylor has stated that she begged Scott Borchetta for years for the opportunity to own her work. Taylor just wanted the fair chance for this, which she was never granted. Her success made that label the viable entity it became and there was no chance Scott would separate her catalogue from his label when he intended to sell it, which is exactly what happened. Taylor always knew she was never going to be freely given the rights to own her work, but what was worse was being denied the opportunity and then to cap it all off, learning that the label (including her masters) were sold to Scooter Braun. Scott Borchetta is the real villain here, because he should’ve know better.
@@Werd24 just because her parents also signed off on it doesn’t mean she completely understood what it meant or think ahead to what she might want at 30. She probably just saw it an opportunity to do what she wanted to do and focused on that. Kids/teens tend to focus on the part they want and worry about the consequences later. This is also what most artists do so she probably thought it was just what is done. I sometimes wonder about Taylor Swift’s parents. The family did invest in the company to give her an opportunity to release music to the general public and they moved very far from home for her possible career. I’m happy they supported her but it also gives me pageant/child actor vibes that just doesn’t sit right. I agree with the rest of your comment though.
19-20 year old Taylor sound so mature about not worrying about her yesterdays, todays or distant future because she knows she gotta make every single day count! look at how far she made it today! SO PROUD OF HER 🥹
That last little bit of her saying she can’t predict her future is so poetic knowing everything she’s been through, and how she came out even stronger on the other side. ❤️
her voice was so much lighter lol! its shocking how different she sounds when speaking now. That said she aged like wine. She looks better now than she did in 2010
I feel really lucky to discover and dive more into Taylor Swift's discography specifically Speak Now that was release in 2010 when i was 5 ane couldn't enjoy the rest of her speak now songs, now that i can really enjoy every song and by listening this interview about the creation of Speak Now it's even more beautiful
@@Orangesparkles166she sadly is more anxious and a bit paranoid :( And that's no wonder, all the shit she's been through... I'd probably also be less chill
this is really sad for me to watch because Tay just sang dear john for the first time in 13 years. Because of some people online she wasn’t able to “Speak Now” because of the hate she was getting on the song
Good for her music 🎶🎶🎶🎶 should be be from the person who sings it not who writes it for you to sing it Manny Money Gonzalez just saying hello 👋 beautiful 🙏🙏👍👍👍👍👍♈👹👑
Thanks for bringing up this interview. I now better understand the Speak Now album and the spirit of the time the songs were written. Her 💖songs are brightening my life. 🦄🎉🪕
I was in deep depression when i was 15, If "Mean" didn't come on MTV that one night, i wouldn't be here today. It's like god gave me a hand to hold on to and to take one small step at a time. Simple lyric from that song gave me hope, that i will be ok. Taylor saved me.

Is it me, or is anyone else getting sick of the commercials before the videos? There used to be only one...nows there's 2. In a year there will be 3....
