not all artist can re-record their old masters bc they dont own the publishing rights. You can only own the copywright if you WRITE YOUR OWN SONGS. I once went to a concert (not Taylor's) and I was told I would get a gift with the ticket because I purchased a floor seat (expense ticket) and a week after the concert I received a CD in the mail. I loved the artist (I won't name) but I would never have purchased that CD. That next week that CD debuted really high in the top 10 on the Top 200 Albums chart because of those bundles. So it's more than just great music.

Don't sign contracts people.... For real, in times like this you don't even need a record label unless us for touring. Secondly, denounce these contracts and put these record labels on blast, it's abusive and it's telling on the blatant crude exploitation artists have to go through. Save your money, create your production company get all the record rights in order, keep your publishing rights at all times, negotiate to the best of your capabilities and if its not going to work, let it go.. Talk to up coming artist and basically get into an agreement that no one signs anything and let's see how they continue to keep up without need talents, while everyone does their thing on their own, and do small releases on their own and small shows and then get together, put a festival on, indie, and boom, there's your capital for an artist own record label... Get everyone in board and that's it. Obviously is not simple, you will need allies and ppl willing to invest, from many other industries, good decent ppl, it will take time, but the machine must be put in place. Don't sign anything. Period.

She did it with bundles and stuff. Other artist would sell more if they did the bundles that she does. She should keep the money and earnings but it should be noted that it isn't original music and should be charted differently. It wouldn't qualify for Grammy awards because it was originally released a different year. And the re-recordings shouldn't qualify for other official awards and accolades. It's like letting someone taking a test twice and saying they're better than the people that only took it one time. It's funny that they waited until she released 4 rerecorded projects to do this.
